I think they should go across the patomac to see roslyn. That's the city across the river that has sort of big buildings. There you can go to freedom park. it is not a park, but it is a walkway. one part shows you a piece of art that has jounalists written all of it. Those journalists are the ones that have died being a journalist. also, there are little things along side the walk like a replica of what's on top of the capital building and there is a thing on women who wanted rights a long time ago in america. Also at the end you can see four slabs that was taken from the berlin wall. it is called the berlin wall at freedom park. Also Iwo jima is a must if you go to roslyn and a must for d.c.

Dude, I can't believe I forgot to mention this: If you guys are still looking for a place to stay, there's a hostel right in the middle of Adams Morgan called the Washington International Students Center(http://www.washingtondchostel.com/index.html).
According to their web site, $23 per night, and private rooms are available. This place is literally in the middle of Adams Morgan right above a restaurant called The Diner. I'm working on finding out about halloween house parties - these are the best because they're laid back (it's at someone's house), economical (drinks are free typically), and they just seem more fun. |

I have lived in the DC area due to the military. One of my favorate places to go is the Washington National Cathedral. Yes I know it's just a church, but it has some of the most diverse stain glass in the world!! The most famous one to look for is the Moon Rock! Check it out!

I know this is a couple of weeks away, but I posted some information on Tennessee and North Carolina on the Memphis thread. As I said in there, I have connections at Biltmore Estate, the largest home in America, and I may be able to get you in for a really good price, if not for free. But this may take a little time to set up, so if you are interested please let me know. And check the Memphis thread for all the details. Enjoy DC!

Greetings,
Try checking out the universities. Georgetown University has a great campus, when I visited I was so overwhelmed! Howard Universityis a Historically Black College with lots of history. You may be able to meet some students from each of these schools and see what they do for fun! Also research a little about GO-GO music and find out where you can experience it. Have fun! |

Mild7s: I am not tending bar at the moment here but when I was, I was at Clyde's of Gallery Place.
As for the go-go, I must say it again, I feel it is that important. You cannot say the phrase, "DC music scene" without at least listening to a go-go cd! Really, it is like going to New Zealand to find out about their dance scene and not seeing the Haka. DC used to be known as the chocolate city and this is definitely a part of that culture. The 'godfather' of go-go is Chuck Brown. He is definitely the easiest for non go-go fans to get down with. At around 70 years old, this guy is a local legend and he's still performing! You absolutely must, even if it is on your own time, listen to at least a cd if you cannot make a performance. As Chuck would say, "It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got that go-go swing..." You will not find anything more uniquely DC than go-go music. I hope you guys arrived safely. Enjoy the city and hopefully I will see you all this week. Peace |

I look forward to watching tonight and I hope you all enjoy the show. Have a great debut! |

In all seriousness. DC is more then Monuments, and statues, and the white house.
I have lived in DC since I could walk in it. And what you really want to see is not going to be in the center of the city. In the shennadoah vally you can really see America. Mabe spot a Eagle flying over the river. or take a swim in the Shennadoah river. For 11 dollars you can take a ferry tour of the potomac, and go from old town, to Mount Vernon(george washingtons house) up the river to the capital itself. America is the modern day roman empire. And I hope you enjoy your stay in the city of Rome. |
