After traveling this past summer to St. Louis, my wife and I were surprized at the ease of getting around by their train and bus systems. For a minor fee, you can have unlimited travel on either, getting to most of the areas to visit. The train goes from Lambert Field (the airport) to downtown, as well as a branch to the south. One can take that to an area, then hop connecting buses to more specific sites. We stayed downtown, never had to rent a car, and visited the A/B brewery (take the bus south from here to Iron Barley Cafe for great food), the zoo (FREE!! admission), the Delmar Loop, Soulard, and the West End with no travel hassels.
