I took my whole family to Disney a few weeks ago and promised to come back and write about my experiences. My son was 4 years old which I felt was the perfect age for a Disney trip.

We got there around 10 o'clock and the park was pretty quiet. We were told to head straight to the back of the park as most people come in and linger around the entrance. We followed this
advice and experienced no lines for many of the rides. My son liked all of these rides including Small World and Peter Pan. He liked going in the boats more than seeing the displays and the music. I think he might of had as much fun if it was just the boat. We took him on the new Disney movie ride called Mickey's PhilharMagic or something. It was a 4-d movie. I thought it was incredible but the 3-d was a little intense for him as he did not understand the items flying off the screen were not going to hit him.

I had been warned that kids this age usually experience a meltdown around midday and that it might be best to return to the hotel for a spell. I did not want to kill a big chunk of the day so we roughed it through this time. There was some rolling around on the floor and whining but then we were right back in it.

We did not use the fast pass very often. With fast pass, my advice is to always be holding one as you can always come back and use it. They have times on them but you can come back anytime after that time slot and hop right on. We used this for Buzz Lightyear (which was awesome) and the jungle ride (ok but a little dated). My son really liked all the train stuff and the waits for them were not bad. We took the train around the whole park and the world of tomorrow train. My recommendation is to take the train around the park when your kid gets tired as they do not kick you off and there is a cool breeze.

The food in the park was pretty bad but we brought our own snacks in which saved the day. My son was not into the characters in costume. "Those are just people" I think he said. The wait to see Mickey was the longest of the day so we decided to skip it.

We were told Lilo and Stitch is scary and bad for smaller kids so we skipped it. We also did not go on any of the coasters. Around 6pm, we were worn and had done the entire park and decided to head off. Outside the park, they have a lot of cool boats you can take to the resort. My son loved this. I think we could have just skipped the park and rode around on the free boats all day.

All in all, it was a great experience and I am sure he will remember it forever. We only did Magic Kingdom as I only planned for 1 day there. I was so worn, I do not understand how people can do a week down there. My one complaint about Magic Kingdom is that Disney has so many parks down there, they try to split the characters up so that you have to go to all of them. There were no signs of many of my son's favorite characters such as Ratatouille, Cars, and Nemo.

I think we will do Islands of Adventure over at Universal from now on which I think is a lot more fun and has more characters (spiderman, shrek, simpsons) that my son likes. I am glad he got his Disney adventure in though.
