The best place for the money I have found is Comfort Inn at Lake Buena Vista. The rooms average 60$ a night and it is around the corner from Downtown Disney. It has all the good food places close by.I have stayed there about seven times over the years.

I ahve been to Walt Disney World - over 15 times

The best place is on Disney Property - ALL Star Resorts - or Pop Century - their value Resorts.

They are amazing - the disney Stadd is incrediable - the food is Great & low proce - I had a chicken Parm with spagetti for $ 10.00. - Huge Heated Pools - very nice places ---- and you stil get the Magic Hours - that all the big disney hotels get - it is worth it - do not go outside & get as hotel room to save 20.00 per night - Spend the money to stay on Disney Property - TOTALLY Worth it

One option, if you have a slightly larger group, is to rent a house. There are many BEAUTIFUL homes, with heated pools, spas, game rooms, large kitchens available for very reasonable prices. We've rented a 5 bedroom house for $1200 for a week, splitting the cost allowed us to stay in much more luxurious accommodations then we could have afforded by ourselves, and we had more room then if it had just been our family in a hotel room! We ate outside the park (except for old favorites like the Fifty's Prime Time Cafe) and it turned out to be a reasonably priced trip. We rented from a local person kvhr.com but I have also used vrbo.com for other rentals across the country. If you have friends or family that you can stand to vacation with, it's a wonderful option.

Once you stay on site, it is really, really hard to go back to staying off property.

The transportation system is excellent.

We have stayed at the Beach Club, and we just love it there.

It is a very short stroll away from Epcot, and right across the lake from the BoardWalk, which has great eateries and shops.

The pool is fabulous, and if you are lucky enough, you can watch Illuminations at night from your room!

I so agree w/melynn44! Once you stay on property, staying anywhere else feels wrong.
My personal favorite is the Contemporary, (an oldie but a goodie.) It's so nice to just hop on the Monorail for that afternoon break from the Kingdom for a quick dip in the pool during peak crowd time.

i also agree, there is no magic outside the property ( i know i lived in Orlando for three years and before that i lived 2 hrs away). my favortie is the Beach Club as well. walking distance from Epcot, Broadwalk, and the Swan and Dolphin not to mention the pool. The pool is the best i've ever been to (and that's a lot). I also recommend the Animal Kingdom Lodge. it's a bit out there, but i love the resturant Jikos located inside the hotel. Fort Wilderness is another great place for people on a budget. You rent a cabin, bring your camper, or as my aunt did pitch a tent. You can't stay there without renting a golf cart. Also, the view from the beach of the fireworks in amazing. It is only a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom as well! I have been going to Disney my whole life and these three are my favorite!

Hi new member here. I just returned from Disney world with my 3 boys and we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. The landscape was beautiful and I loved the free transportation. I have to say I will always stay on Disney property now. Not to mention we flew with Delta and we were able to get our boarding passes and check our luggage in the hotel lobby, this was a great help for a single mom. Plus the staff was very nice and the rooms immaculate.

By far the best place to stay on a budget is Disney's Pop Century Resort. You can take their transportation to anywhere on Disney's property and there's no need to worry about paying for parking. The rooms are very nice. I completely agree once you stay on the property, you can't stay somewhere else.

Good afternoon!

I've been to Walt Disney World eight times, the last seven times solo. Because I cannot drive, it's impractical for me to stay off-property. I try to stay at a different resort on each trip to get a slightly different perspective.

The transportation system is excellent, though it may be a little daunting to those used to driving everywhere.

My favorite resorts, regardless of price, are the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge; but my favorite value resort is Pop Century.

With three kids the Disney on-property options are limited, so we've stayed off property on our last two visits. We've enjoyed Floridays Resort and would definitely stay there again.

Here are articles that list some advantages/disadvantages of both.

Pros/Cons of staying onsite

Pros/Cons of staying offsite

We really prefer one of the Disney Orlando Hotels. Although they are pricey, you can find deals if you are willing to go off-season. There is so much to do (for kids) at the hotel and transportation to the parks is super easy.
