Samantha should really visit the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas. It was built in 1911 and has the elegance of Galveston's Victorian heritage. It was built to revive the beach atmosphere after the Great 1900 Hurricane almost blew Galveston off the map. Across the street from the hotel is the trolley which takes people to the Strand Historic District for shopping. There are beautiful Victorian mansions on the island as well, such as the Bishop's Palace. The hotel faces the Gulf of Mexico---the beach is right across the street. This hotel is every bit as elegant as the hotels in San Francisco or New York. By the way, I love your Great Hotels show!!
