I wish Samantha had had the chance to stay at the Windsor Hotel in Nice. Many of the rooms were decorated by artists, and this made our time there VERY interesting.
We stayed in the gold room, which felt like sleeping in a bank vault. (They have that room on their home page.) www.hotelwindsornice.com Then we loved the Spa Resort Hotel on Koh Samui island in Thailand. Relaxed, friendly, (most go for the fasting cleanses, which is a shame with a "Top 50" restaurant on site! (That is- "Top 50 Restaurants Around the World") Using a random search on priceline.com, we found a fabulous boutique hotel in Boston that we can't wait to visit again! It is the Hotel Marlowe. Ours was a gorgeous & warm red & yellow room with faux-fur throws on the beds. Classical music was playing in our room when we arrived, which was another nice touch. We can also recommend both the Hotel Villa Maroc (Essaouira, Morocco), and the Riad Oum Kalthoum in Marrakech. (I confess, I can't find the latter online today- perhaps the name has been changed?) Both places were serene, beautiful, well attended, with friendly and helpful owners. We can't wait to go back! Otherwise, the rest of the hotels we've stayed in in the US, Europe, and Asia blend together in my memory- aside from the fact that there always seemed to be construction going on outside our window. One place in Geneva even let us stay there with half the building wrapped in plastic! Men with loud machines & hoses would walk by our windows on scaffolding every few minutes doing construction! I do wish they'd have warned us of that before we arrived! Now, I'm off to find a new hotel in NY! |
