No offence, but you come off as a prude, Samantha_fan7. I quite liked seeing this side of Samantha, it was nice to see her use all of her faculties for once. - Aodhan |

It hurts me to say this but...I am not happy with this "new wild" Samantha. I am trying to figure out how to express myself without hurting your feelings, Samantha, really, especially after reading your blog entries. I fully realize that I don't know you personally but having watched your various shows over the past 5 years (caught up in reruns) I am a bit taken aback by the Las Vegas episode as well. Cursing is one thing but the fact that it aired is another. That falls on the shoulders of the production company and the Travel Channel. No wonder they've moved Samantha to 10 pm, a time slot that suggested to me all too well that things were going to "get out of hand" and on purpose. I'll leave it at this message for the suits at the Travel Channel, BRING BACK PINERIDGE! |

I have to agree with the first poster. I actually signed up tonight so I could post about this very thing. I have been a loyal fan for years. I try to arrange my day around the Passport to Europe show. Samantha has always seemed so classy but yet down to earth. I can't say enough about how much I've enjoyed her shows - until tonight. I felt sad after watching the Vegas show and only watched part of the Austin show. I am not a prude, but I think a little less alcohol might have been consumed and - don't we get enough sex from every other show on TV??? I don't think I'll be watching this "Weekend" show again. I'm so disappointed.

You are entiltled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine. I loved it! If Samantha comes to Arizona, she has an open invitation to "b%#$& ride" on the back of my hog. * B%#$& Ride = Passenger (Don't get your panties all in a bunch.) Oh yuh, "hog" is a Harley Davidson. Keep it real Sam. |

I totally agree with Samantha_fan7 & leia_87. My family & I love watching Sam's travel programs. She is the best when it comes to great vacation ideas. My family & I were so looking forward to Passport To Great Weekends in hoping to get travel ideas that we can afford in the United States. I am greatly disappointed in the content of Vegas & Austin, TX. My family & I are not interested in strip joints & bars. We are interested in historical places and fun places to relax & explore. To aodhan: my family & I are not prudes. We are not into the bar/strip joint scene. We are not in favor of getting drunk & getting stupid. We welcome Sam & her crew to come to Louisiana. St. Francisville, Louisiana has quite the history, romance and mystery. The Myrtles bed & breakfast comes to mind. It has been featured on The Travel Channel as the 13th most haunted place in America. My family & I have toured The Myrtles during the 2007 Halloween Extravaganza. Historically scary & fun. There are also other plantation homes to check out in St. Francisville, Louisiana. I also wanted to say that St. Francisville is a family friendly town. Many children do go on the plantation home tours and that includes The Myrtles tour. |

I agree completely. This is not really a NEW Samantha, this is just the Samantha that we have never seen; She's just showing her love and enthusiasm for the good old US of A. |

she let me down tonight, as well. She seems more focused on HERSELF these days than on getting accurate information about the destination. I hope no one noticed her calling the wonderful mosquito eating Mexian fee-tailed bats of Austin Vampires! and then having her think it would be CUTE to direct the camera in such a way that it would appear they were flying out of her butt! Very disrepectful to the citiznes of Autin who revere their beloved bats!! |

I will accept the moderators censorship as a slap on the wrist for my terminology. Sorry, I will choose my words more carefully. Samantha is more than welcome to ride the west on the back of my Harley Davidson. BTW, my wife of 34 years approves this post. KS |

That's awesome sierrakan! You found yourself a good woman there. Also, not to take away from anyone's opinion here, but it's gonna be different than her previous shows. Sam doesn't have a week to get to show us around, she has a couple days. This isn't a marathon, it's a sprint... |

I'm sorry that some people watched only part of the Austin show. Barton Springs Pool has much history. Also the bats are a great attraction. But I have to admit, Austin is a great place for bar hopping, and of course Vegas is known for their bars and gambling, so it's not surprising Sam drank! However,it seems to me, the two shows tonight were for the college kids that love to party, and the weekend get aways would be fun for them! LPT (From Austin) |

I really liked both episodes of the show. All I wanted to say Samantha, is that the bats at the Congress Avenue Bridge aren't Vampire Bats, they are Mexican Free-Tailed Bats, which eat insects, and do not drink blood. There is more information here:
http://www.batcon.org/home/index.asp?idPage=122 I'm not trying to be snippy at all, I'm just a Zoologist that specializes in bats and think that the correct information needs to be distributed about these very misunderstood animals. There are VERY few bats that drink blood (only three of the approximately 1,100 species of bats, and 70% of the rest of those only eat insects) and mostly only go after livestock and other animals rather than humans. They don’t deserve the fear and hate that they often get, they are very beneficial and beautiful animals and deserve respect. Anyway, that is all I had to say, other than thank you for not acting afraid of them and continuing the attitude that they are scary. Keep up the great work with your shows okay? |

Here in Louisiana, we get bikers (HD, etc.) that go on plantation home tours. I see them all the time here in St. Francisville. The are tons of great resturants ranging from creole to cajun, to french, to american and then some. We have great shopping as well. If you are into antiques, we have them as well. From authentic french & english, to primative. St. Francisville is an hour from Baton Rouge (red stick in french)which is our state capital. We are also an hour from Natchez, MS. which has an awesome ghoust tour that kids would love. In Natchez, you can have fine dining in an authentic plantation house dinningroom. Using the same glassware, flatware, chinaware as the original owners did. Monmouth Plantation home cira 1818. Absoultely beautiful. |

I love Samantha.. it's just kind of strange to see this side of her. Is it just me or does it seem like the show is trying to be more like Anthony Bourdain's? It just doesn't go with who she's made herself out to be for all these years. |
