I have lived in Nashville TN all of my life and I was embarassed. Nashville is a great place to live and we are alot more than Honky Tonk Bars and Country music. The history of Nashville should have been covered, we have a beautiful Symphony Hall that is very unique and we have a large museum. Plus many parks and lakes. If a person was visiting Nashville for a weekend they would not be trying to become a country star. The history in Nashville if far more interesting than the Honky Tonk coverage that was done. Oh yes we have an NFL team and a NHL team in our city also. Come back and I would be glad to show you Nashville.

I love watching Samantha. She has an energetic feel to her shows that makes them interesting to watch. However, I am confused at to what these Great Weekend shows are all about. While I enjoyed watching Samantha become a country music recording star in 2 days, that is not only unrealistic for anyone to be able to do in 2 days, but also for making a weekend trip to Nashville. What can I do there? I have never visited Nashville, and would love to know what I, as an average person, could do there.
No one, just by briefly visiting Nashville for the weekend, is going to get to sit in at a record studio with Vince Gill.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE clarify what these Weekend Getaway shows are intended to do. I believe many of Samantha's loyal fans who watched the show to learn about great places to visit are confused by the intention of the Great Weekend Getaway shows. Thank you for listening.

While I can understand how some fans are disappointed with the overall content of this episode; I think it’s notable for showing Samantha’s sweetness, sensitivity, and yes, vulnerability in a way that’s been far too lacking from most of the episodes. If the episode had ended with some insightful closing remarks I would have been totally satisfied with it. On a separate note, I can’t believe that a segment from the Santa Barbara episode where Samantha is mocking a Travel Channel producer trying to convince her to do something dangerous has been taken totally out of context and used in a new promo.

Since SB's programs were sold to Cox, there was a major shift in the new owners' preferred viewer demographics. In other words, during the PineRidge/DC era, programs were written by SB and meant for those who travel - and travel well (actually, a common complaint from then). Nowadays, SB no longer writes the shows and the much younger prefered demographic reflects an economic base of those who typically do not travel; therefore, SB as a traveller is free to do more "fantasy travels" to satisfy the less well-heeled who travel by TV. Therefore, we, who really do travel, are left somewhat flat by many of these episodes designed for the couchbound.

Nevertheless, much of these complaints are downright silly. Please recall from back in the day when SB was castigated herein for staying at 5 star hotels and that few could live as she does on the road. And now, the complaints are very nearly the opposite! And so, at the end of the day please don't blame our intrepid girl - it's merely a shift in production policy.

For the record, SB rarely goes to museums or concert halls and prefers events in which she can meet the locals. It's always been that way - and good for her!

Best, Intl Doc

PS Sam, we miss you here!

You are sooooooo close - bring the crew and come visit CincinnatiUSA. We are the perfect weekend "escape" and unlike the commments that one of the other bloggers made (love2laugh), CincinnatiUSA can give the average traveler A LOT to do in a weekend with a short trip, limited funds, and the desire to have FUN!
