Hello to everyone visiting after tonight's shows. Let us know what you thought. You can also check out Sam's most recent blogs on San Fran and Miami! Click here to read the new blogs.
I'm happy to report that I finally get it. If memory serves me right, Samantha told us all quite some time ago that she wanted to spend more time interacting with people and less time just talking to the camera. I think she said this before or during filming of Passport to Latin America. Without a script per se, Passport to Great Weekends is a slightly different format than what we've become accustomed to. And with each weekend comes a theme: Las Vegas was getting wild (to me it seemed wild), Austin was being a rocker chick, San Francisco was about eating and drinking and Miami was the girls' getaway.
So far, Miami is my favorite and it's not just for the finely cut men but for the fact that Samantha got to spend some quality time with her friends. I'm sure it's difficult for them to see each other often what with work and family and Samantha constantly traveling. All of my girlfriends live in other states. All of them and none are within driving distance.
Samantha, you made me do something you've never made me do before...cry. How? When you were having dinner with Liz and Nancy and told them you loved them, I smiled and I cried. When you didn't really want to let go so she could head to the airport, I nodded and I cried.
I look forward to the rest of the season and I apologise if I came down on you too harshly before.
Awwww, it was nice seeing Sam spend time with her close friends. I mean, she does so much traveling and she never get time to do things just for her. Yeah, she travels to all these countries and places around the world, but she's always filming for us (the viewers); she deserves to enjoy herself once in a while. Also, with these weekend getaways we get to see the REAL Sam; this is the "OFF CAMERA" Sam.
In addition, I thought she did an excellent job capturing the highlights of Miami. In a weekend, she managed to film the Latino/Hispanic culture, the beaches, and the nightlife, and that's what Miami is all about.
Congratulations Sam on another great episode, and I'm glad to see that you're enjoying yourself and meeting up with your old friends. Keep up the good work.
By the way, you look great in a bikini; there's no need to suck in your stomach. lol.
Sam had once blogged about how she admired Anthony Bourdain- his honesty in all its gruff and grumble fashion. She wrote that she was expected to present her travels with a perky and upbeat manner ( and downplaying the negative stuff ). I got the impression that as adorable, witty and smart Sam is- we're not really getting the real Sam as much as she would like.
The Miami episode must have been a refreshing change of pace for her- and I enjoyed it, too.
With all due respect to Sam, I thought this was one of the most boring episodes she has ever done. Obviously this episode was really catered towards woman in their mid-30's to 40's. I understand she wanted to hang with her good frends for 3 days, but the episode was so one-dimensional focusing on bar hopping, drinking mohitos, girl talk and buying dresses. I just couldn't relate to any of it. I would love to go to Miami one day for a weekend, but this episode did nothing for me.
The episode felt way too voyeuristic in the realm of a reality show than an actual guide to Miami. I mean it was cool that she had a good time with her girlfriends, but geez make they could have at least made the episode more broader so that Men would have enjoyed it as well.
I guess there is not a whole lot to do in Miami but go to the beach, eat, drink and shop. A place for a good rest. However, San Francisco is a different story. Many sights to see and to keep busy. I was more disappointed in the SF show.
I think leia_87 explains it all. Go back and re-read their post. While I would love the weekend shows to be more about the city than a particular experience in that city...I think this is the point of the new series. It's different, but I think we're missing the vision of it all.
The whole time I was watching the Miami episode, I kept thinking Cougars!. Samantha and her friends were acting like those annoying 30-40 year old women who get all liquored up for a girl's weekend, laughing way too loudly, and still thinking they can get down on the dance floor. I like Samantha Brown, but this episode was incredibly boring. It was actually kind of painful to watch them because of the embarrassing cougar behavior and I wasn't seeing the fun in going to Miami. It was way too much of Samantha talking and goofing with her friends and totally not caring to try to get the viewer involved. Very voyeristic and not entertaining at all. It was funny to see the one lady who forever had a mojito in her hand and slipped down the stairs though.
The south Beach, Miami show is my favorite so far. I felt like I won a viewer contest that allowed me to spend a weekend with Sam. I got to know who her close friends Liz and Nancy are and to see them have a wonderful time together.
I loved watching Samantha interact with her close friends as if they weren't even being televised and it felt very natural to me. As an outsider, I felt welcomed into their privy circle of friendship and felt a special privilege to witness the bond they have together that has lasted for years.
I enjoyed every moment they spent together and, as an unseen viewer, I say thank you for allowing me to come along for another joyful weekend getaway adventure!

I disagree watching Sam pamper herself, drinking Mohitos and shopping for high heels isn't my idea of good television. I mean I'm glad she had fun, but the segments that featured her having girl talk with her friends was nauseatingly boring. The part with her checking out the hot guys made me cringe. There was zilch in this episode that would compel me to travel to Miami.
I watched this last night. I really liked it. It was cool to see Sam with two of her friends from her comedy/acting background.
I especially liked the one with the great legs. She was wearing what looked like see-through pants during one part and she looked excellent in them. She was the tallest one I think.
I very much enjoyed the Miami episode. Miami is a beach, nightlife, and shopping destination. That is exactly what you got to see in this episode. but it was much more personal because you got to see Samantha with her "girls". it made it more applicable to my life. it was the first episode that i could actually see myself in. Probably one of my favorites so far.
