I was very upset to watch Samantha's trip to Dallas. She spent nearly the entire episode in towns outside of Dallas and did not showcase any of the wonderful things Dallas has to offer. In addition, her trip only epitomized Texas stereotypes and did not show how diverse Dallas can be. All in all, I was very disappointed.

I’m disappointed that this episode didn’t show us the hospital where Samantha was born. I had also hoped to see the house or apartment where Samantha lived during her first year of life. I did enjoy seeing the baby pictures, although I thought she looked more than one year old in them.

A pink shotgun? overall I love Sam and her shows but was disapointed in a couple of things about the Dallas show mostly leeting her handle ANY gun without proper training was dumb. She would have enjoyed it more and had more fun with alittle training. Secondly giving her a Girly pink shotgun while tollerable was not needed as far as I'm concerned. But it only televison so I'll get over it.

I agree David...it would have been nice to see some of those more personal touches in the show.
I'm just not a fan of Great Weekends, where it seems like they try to shove together as many "crazy" and "unique" experiences into a show as possible, without showing the true heart of a city. Creating a fake debutante ball to show Sam in a big white dress? Boring. Watching her ride around with bikers? Boring. I miss the style of her talking to the screen a la Passport to Europe and Great Hotels. Oh well!

I was very disappointed in the episode! It further perpetuates the stereotype that Dallas is has nothing more to offer than gun toting mammas who are part of "high society" and attend debutante balls while riding long horns!

Come one Samantha, did you even research what there is to do in Dallas? Hell, most of the time she wasn't even in Dallas, Corsicana is 80 miles southwest of here, I should know, I was born there sad to say.

Dallas has one of the largest arts district in America and many cultural exhibits ranging from art and sculpture museums to world class restaurants and not to mention some of the best shopping malls in the country such as Northpark Center which is a cross between an art museum and a shopping center!

Not to mention both the Ft. Worth and Dallas Zoos! I hate to see that we are continued to be stereotyped by those that have no clue what it is like to live here.

Perhaps she should come live here for a year or two and really understand what Dallas is really like (and do a show that is shot entirely in Dallas)!

Why would anyone want to visit Dallas after viewing your "Dallas" episode? Compare it to the elegant laid-back "Chicago" episode and the great restaurant with the ice-age salted steaks, of which I can't wait to visit on my next trip to Chicago. Debutantes and exclusive gun club members will not welcome visitors or even ordinary locals, that's why they are exclusive. Stockyards and riding in big rigs, especially in the heat of summer? I see where the story went astray and tried to be humorous with this being your birth city, but where was the humor? You have an amazing talent and independent spirit to travel and experience wonderful places and people, and in the process take your viewers along and in a small way, let us experience it too. Did it ever occur to you that your independence, spirit, and strength is your Texas heritage? A Texas birthright, despite one's length of residency, evokes pride and a perhaps a small sense of being a maverick deep down. I see a lot more Texas in your personality than you might care to realize, but that's a good thing. Come back and discover the real Dallas and you might discover a sense of yourself in a place you never thought to look.

Likely the wrong person to reply to this, should have been someone in TC management; but now might be the right time and place to point out that SB is no longer the writer of the Passport series as she was when Discovery Communications owned the Travel Channel. In short, smu, et al, you're errantly angry at the messenger instead of the message. Take your shots at the perplexing film style of Cox Communications if continuity is your issue.

SB, if you happen to read this whilst out bumping around the globe, see what it would take to write that book we've discussed. You're decidedly a cut above the rest and we miss your wit.

Best, Intl Doc
