Surin is a province in the northeast part of Thailand and is around six hours driving from the capital, Bangkok. The locals there are very well known for their weaving skills, and especially their silk weaving skills.

There are overnight stays that you can enjoy in these very well maintained Thai villages that you can really see the Thai traditional culture come to life and live with it and experience it. Of course, this means that you will enjoy the Thai food there that is very traditional in the province.

On to the silk in this province, it is very well known that most national and important occasions use Thai silk from this province. This is not surprising because of the work that is put into silk weaving is very impressive with the detail that it becomes a tourist destination for many foreigners to visit and even stay at the Thai village.

It's more than worth checking it out, so there's more info on this site --> http://www.tourismthailand.org/7wonders/
it's in the "thainess 01" section - under the 'thai way of living' category.

Enjoy!
