I will probably get 'booed' off this site, but I do not think that gambling, such as World Poker Tour, has any place on the Travel Channel. I tune in to see travel information, not a bunch of poker players and their followers show their lack of intelligence. I have nothing against gambling, but it should be left in Las Vegas, Atlantic City or the players can create their own channel, not on the Travel Channel where some of us are trying to get educated about interesting travel locations, etc. Otherwise, I think that the Travel Channel has a lot to offer for travelers, educators and anyone who enjoys scenic places. Thanks.

I'll defend robbiedoug463...

He has a valid point, perhaps poker shouldn't be on The Travel Channel (WPT) or on ESPN (WSOP) or on FSN (Poker Superstars) or on Bravo (Celebrity Poker Showdown), perhaps if all the poker players got together and each put up a little money each then The Poker Channel could be created. Poker 24/7 on The Poker Channel! You could have WPT, WSOP, PS, CPS, other taped/filmed poker events, movies such as Rounders, Hard Eight, The Cincinati Kid..., Educational Series hosted by the best in the game.

The more I think about it the more robbiedoug might be right. Classic Poker Hour hosted by Doyle Brunson could feature classic games, Where Are They Now on players from yesteryear, classic hands even old WSOPs. The Professors Poker hosted by Howard Lederer would be an educational series (like 26 episodes just like any series) that could teach us about proper play, odds, tells and such. Chip Tricks with a new guest host each week could show us the tricks and techniques behind some of the coolest chip tricks.

Sorry about the length but I could keep going...

Now I am excited about watching The Poker Channel on my TV...anybody know when it starts??? Confused

Don't get me wrong, I love poker and all. But I doubt I will enjoy it enough to want to watch a channel on it 24/7. Smile

That would rule us all... One channel with 24 hour poker a day? In like 1-2 years, everyone would be a pro. It would be insane.

You see, if you ask to take the poker off the other stations, and concentrate it into a single channel, a strong wave of card players will be born. Great players with bad names, such as Sticky McGee, or Tommy 'Toe Tapping' Salami will be 'pro players'. Now we can't have that, so we spread the poker games to several stations.

That Howard Lederer idea sounds great BTW Smile !

But on the other hand, we are trying to take over ESPN, and The Travel Channel, and any other station. SOON THERE WILL BE POKER ON THE DISNEY CHANNEL!!! MWHAHAHAHAHA!!! RUN BOY, RUN!

I don't think they should have poker on the travel channel either, but this is a classic case of cable channel mission creep. Not that I think the players or their followers are dumb. I don't even think poker is really gambling, but I can't comprehend how people can actually be entertained by watching it. We'll be watching some real travel show--maybe one of Samantha Brown's, and then at 9pm poker comes on. It's disconcerting; it's like listening to a jazz station and suddenly having hip-hop music come on.

Roll Eyes Note to mod_ben - I've been looking for the right place to complain about WPT on Travel Channel and I hope I've found it. I don't understand why poker is on television, let alone on a channel that's supposed to be dedicated to travel. This makes as much sense as pro wrestling on the SciFi channel. Show me travel, tours, cruises, trips, vacations. I have found no one (except the folks commenting on this topic) with any interest in poker on television. They would follow it on ESPN2 or A&E, wherever it went after Travel Channel cancels it. Please get rid of it and stick to what you do best. Thanks for your time.

AGREED!!!
The Travel Channel is a dumb place for poker.
It belongs on the Game Channel. What is the
"travel" about poker? Why don't you drop this dumb programming?
The only thing that can be obviously said abut it, is that it is CHEAP programming.
