The forum has been slow lately, so I thought I would tell you about my exciting trip coming up a week from Thursday!
I'm flying to Milan Italy, and am going to the opera! One of the things Milan is famous for! Also
I'm going to Venice and the Swiss Alps. As usual, I'm going low season, so I can afford the trip.
If anyone has any suggestions for what to do in Milan that is not quite the usual, please let me know. From what I know about Milan, it may be a huge city, but everything is near the Duomo and doesn't take long to see Milan. I am booked to see The Last Supper. But if there is something different to see that most tourists don't know about, I would love to know.
I will write a blog on this trip so I can share my adventures with you.

Have a fabulous and safe trip! I'm sure we're all looking forward to the blog (aka trip play-by-play!).

Wish I had some great tips on what to do or see...but I'm the typical girl that would be doing the discount label shopping! Smile

LPT is Italy Bound! Woo-hoo!

Thank you mistyleann!
Even the touristy places look like fun in Milan!
It's a good thing I enjoy big cities, because Milan is very big! Not sure how the weather will be like in Venice or the Swiss Alps, but I am bringing warm clothes. I should make it to Lake Como also, since it's only an hour train ride from Milan.
Never give up on your travel dreams. I started traveling to Europe much later than most people, but better late than never!

I'm back from Milan!! I had a wonderful time! Also, the Swiss Alps were so beautiful!
I'll be writing a blog on myspace. I'll let you know when the blog is up.
If I can afford a trip next year, it's a toss up between Paris/London or Barcelona Spain. I've been lucky enough to go to Europe four years in a row. Many people go to Paris and London, but I haven't been there yet!! But Barcelona looks so glorious too! Too bad I can't go to all three cities in one trip! But I'll feel lucky if I can make it to Europe at all in 2009. 2009 could be a tough year for most of us. But I sure do feel good about the trips I've taken so far!
Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Mrs. Lived and I have been fortunate to have visited all three locations and it is very difficult to pick one as our favorite. Barcelon with Antoni Gaudi's architecture (http://www.greatbuildings.com/architects/Antonio_Gaudi.html) is one of the big draws.

Paris, well what bad can be said of Paris? It is a beautiful city, easy to get around, we found the Parisians very helpful and there are a number of very good and inexpensive places to eat.

London, with it's transportation system, is also easy to traverse. It seemed like almost every corner had either a McDonalds, Subway or Starbucks Frown There also appeared to be more Americans in London than in Paris or Barcelona which may be due to the fact there is no (?) translation needed.

If I had to choose for you I would toss a coin between Barcelona and Paris with London as the last option.

Travel safe

. Istanbul is really very beautiful place for your trip.. you can easily savor the different architecture of the Anatolian and the European side, highlighting the way in which the blend of these two cultures underpins the nature of Istanbul.
