Passport is awesome. Sam at her finest for sure. Where do you think she should go after her European tour? I would like to see an Asian adventure. Culture shock adventure... Wink

I think Sam should continue with Passport to Europe for a lot longer. There is still so much to see and do. Just like Girl Meest Hawaii, she needs to really dig into it and discover it- all the hidden and unique places. There are many more cities and areas to explore and I think she is not even close to finishing!

I think that Sam should go to Slovenia. My fiance is slovenian, and you really never see anything on that country. I would like to visit there some day. You can't even buy a dvd on Slovenia. I heard that it's beautiful. Thanks

I seem to recall a special in which Sam went to Japan. This was several years ago; I think it was during her Girl Meets Hawaii days. I was just channel surfing and happened upon it one night. I must have assumed it'd be repeated because I remember watching only a few minuets. Does anyone else remember this or was I dreaming? Let us hope I have not gotten to the point where I am having delisions featuring Samantha Brown!

I am *not* confusing this with the Hawaiian hotel that featured a Japanese style restraunt where it looks like you're sitting on the floor but really your legs are hanging down below the table. This was Sam with short hair talking to an older gentelman infront of what apeared to be a temple. Anyone?

I am pretty sure Samantha has never filmed anything in Japan. I once visited a place on Oahu's windward coast called the Valley of the Temples.
There is quite an amazing replica there of the
Byodo-in Temple, which is actually near Kyoto in Japan. They have lovely koi ponds and a big brass bell that can be gonged for good luck.
My husband and I both have a faint recollection of Samantha in a segment shot there on a Girl Meets Hawaii episode. I could be wrong, but that's my best guess about what you think you saw, so chances are you are not delusional.
And if you are a fan of the International House of Pancakes, as your username implies, may I ask what is your favorite menu item there?

Orangefan. That must have been the show I was thinking of, thanks. It’s amazing how much Japanese culture has thrived in Hawaii.

I haven’t been to an IHOP in at least five years, perhaps ten! There just isn’t one around. But when I have gone, I’ve enjoyed myself. I am a French toast man, to answer your question; so that’s usually all I order. I do like their purple syrup though, Blueberry I think.

When choosing a username for this forum, I wanted something absolutely random, surreal even. IHOP came to mind for some reason so I chose ihopjunkie. But I must have made a mistake when registering; because after I logged out my first time, I couldn’t log back in. I’d be “bumped” over to the Discovery Channel website and once I clicked my way back to this forum I was asked to log in again only to be bumped back to the Discovery site! For a year this went on. I would vainly try to log in, hoping that I would be able to post on the forum (especially during the “Sam Responds” chats) only to be thwarted. By what, I don’t know; it must have had to do with my computer’s privacy settings. So I tried re-registering using the more descriptive name: Travelpotato, but the same thing happened. I got really frustrated and called it “Post” Traumatic Stress! I tied registering a third and forth time. Eventually, I went off to college and got a new computer. Then, the forth time I registered, using my original name, two years after my first attempt, I got in!!! The reason I’m writing all this, well, partly to get it off my chest, but also to encourage anyone else out there who might be desperately trying to contribute to this forum to keep trying.

I thank you, orangefan, for your vote of confidence in my sanity, but now that you know the lengths to which I went to become a member of an online forum I wouldn’t blame you for rescinding it! Ironically, now that I’m in college, I don’t have a TV let alone cable; so I’ve traded Samantha Brown’s shows for Samantha Brown’s forums. I must say they’re both addictive!

Sincerely,
ihop aka Travelpotato

ihopjunkie/travelpotato,
I can feel your pain.
You have had a rough time.
I went without cable for a six month stretch once and it was hard. But this site is a comfort, isn't it? Especially with all the new additions this year. Sharing your post trauma tales of woe will surely help somebody, and I'm sure it feels good to get it all out. Being a SamFan is not always easy, but hang in there!

But I digress from the topic, and I should address it, before this becomes a runaway thread.
"Where should Samantha go next?"
I think she should be allowed to go home and take a long breather.
Let her sleep in her own bed, feed her cat, make meals in her crockpot and drink from her own glassware. The wonderful Passport to Europe shows aired so far have all exceeded my expectations, and I have been enjoying them immensely. But, the grueling schedule has got to be taking a toll on the Travel goddess and her amazing crew.
I say, give us a "Girl Meets New York" series.
There is plenty to see and do around New York City, and inexpensively. And as Captuttle once said, there are many who would watch even if Samantha was hosting "Great Rest Stops on the New Jersey Turnpike". Wherever she goes, Samantha Brown has the extraordinary ability to make it interesting and worthwhile for us to watch, and make us stay tuned for more.
After she gets re-charged, she can do the rest of the world, and they should let her go wherever she wants!

One of the most interesting and beautiful countries is Norway! I've been waiting for Sam to discover it! The Fjords, mountains, and people are the finest on earth! It would be great for Sam to take the west coast postal cruise from Bergen to the top of the world!!! Stop atTrondheim to see the Nidaros Cathedral. Norway is a very expensive country to visit especially at this time when the dollar is down, but it is money well spent!!!

I would love her to complete Europe as planned. In the future after Houston, maybe Nepal and climb to the basecamp. But you must have nurse accompany the cast and crew. Safety first Ms. Brown.

I agree that Europe needs to be explored more in depth. I also agree that an Asain tour would be awesome. Someday, a holyland tour would interest the bible belt of america also

I have recently discovered the wonders of Sam and with the power of DVR, I get to see about 5-6 shows of hers/day! :-P I'm absolutely addicted to her upbeat and almost childlike reactions to everything around her. I love how she's willing to make a goober out of herself and is obsessed with food as I'm sure we all are! In regards to where I think Sam should check out next or in the near future is Isle of Capri, Italy. GORGEOUS!!

Mod Ben. Are you there?
On 1/22, ihopjunkie spoke of something on this thread that he aptly described as "Post" traumatic stress. It seems that I (and others) have experienced something similar lately, with many hours passing between the time "Post Now" is punched and the time the post appears. What's up with that? Can you clue us in on how to avoid this?
Be aware that the Queen of the Forum her royal self will be coming home soon, and she may be greatly displeased by this turn of events. I fear heads are going to roll! (Just kidding) But really, it would be a shame if fans of this show, particularly new posters, get so frustrated in their efforts to connect here that they give up entirely.

That said, I will get back onto the topic of this thread, concerning where Samantha should go next...
Forget what I said up above about New York. I am amending that, due to the fact that Samantha has more energy and enthusiasm than I ever imagined, and should be allowed to continue on this noble quest to enlighten us all.
Someone surely owes us Venice and Denmark, both shown in the opening montage before Sam's Passport gets slapped down on our TV screen.
I'd also like to see Budapest, St. Petersburg, Athens, and Talinn, Estonia. All of the Scandinavian countries would be nice, with Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo, but maybe some of the smaller cities and towns, as well.
Wales and Northern Ireland also deserve a look, and Samantha night have a particular interest in Derry, one of the finest examples of a walled city in Europe. It has a mile-ling walkable wall complete with cannons. Not far west is the rugged landscape of County Donegal, and cool places like the Giant's Causeway to the east. I'd like to see a variety of accomodations too, like Farmhouse B and B's or a thatched cottage.
Ah..we can only wish..and perhaps write letters (or short notes even) to support the continuation of this very fine effort, perhaps beyond Europe, as well!

Keen observation regarding the Venice and Denmark brochures in the opening montage, for secretly I had thought the same thing. Prior to knowing the schedule of the first 30...and may they remain the first 30...I assumed that both of those places would be apart of the first season. Nevertheless, they seem like obvious choices for future episodes.

It would be most intersting for me to see some of the more obscure European cities, most traveler's find too adventurous or "foreign" for their tastes. Such would include Bucharest, Budapest, Riga, Krakov, Lux. City, among several of the others that have already been mentioned. If one of the goals of the show is to get American tourists to fly to these various destinations, episodes for these cities less-known to American tourists might be worthwhile.

I don't believe that Ms. Brown should embark on new continents until Passport to Europe has surely run its course. I find that this show is exactly what the Travel Channel needs. Too often I wished they had a "Europe Week" or something, since if this show did not exist, the channel would have very little Euro-programming.

This show really has been Ms. Brown's finest accomplishment and if there needs to be any proof, one would only need to look at her Austrian shows to see how far she's come (not to say she was ever not good or anything...). Europe is to diverse and interesting a continent to abandon for another so soon...

SIR
