Does anyone know the name and address of the Bohemian Crystal shop that Samantha Brown was at in Prague or any other recommendations on where to buy crystal in Prague? We are visiting Prague in 2 weeks.

Hi mfritz,

I've been to the crystal store in Prague that Samantha featured. I've bought glassware there and elsewhere in Prague. You can shop around if you like, but I've found Samantha's store offers the best prices. It is a factory outlet for the Crystalex company, and seems to offer only first-quality glass. Other stores in Prague carry Crystalex glass, perhaps at a similar price, but often sell second-quality glass. In my opinion, Samantha and company steered us in the right direction.

The store is called Crystalex and it is located at 6 Male Namesti in the tourist area of Prague. If you visit the famous Astronomical Clock and walk due west from it toward the Charles Bridge, 6 Male Namesti is on your right about a block west of the clock. If you keep the clock on your right shoulder, walk west and follow the curve of the buildings as they bend onto Male Namesti. There are no other streets on the right between the clock and Male Namesti. You will recogize the store instantly from Passport to Europe. Male Namesti is a very short street of just one block and is difficult to spot on most maps.

There is an intersting, but dated, article from the New York Times about buying glassware in Prague. It is found at:
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/04....html?pagewanted=all

Check out the venerable Prague Strudel thread on this board and follow my directions to the best strudel in Europe, according to Samantha. But they do tend to take a vacation for a couple of weeks in July, I think, but it might stretch into August. You should find the shop open when you are going. Please write back about your experiences.

Happy travels,

Father Orange
