Hey Andrew! I have been inspired greatly by your TV show and it is one of my greatest dreams to travel with you to try out all sorts of strange, exotic foods. I am from Queens, NY and I wanted to know if you could also produce an episode with minors at least 14 years of age. I am 15 and I believe it would be an awesome idea to show how often (or not very often) minors are interested in cultural food that most Americans consider "gross." I am willing and hoping for any opportunity, possible to travel somewhere with my father and meet you. I will also be doing a science project in January about food that no one has ever heard of (like balot, or fugu) and I'm also going to be EATING some of these foods in front of the whole school! My Global History teacher will be really proud. I would like to ask of any advice from you, what's coming up, and if you could please consider my idea. It would be an HONOR to hear from you.

Most inspired fan,
-Randy

Andrew, First of all I must say, thank you! You are an inspiration to many, as well as myself. I watch your show quite regularly and I strive to try as many culinary delicacies that are within my reach. I was especially intrigued by your love of insects and I have become somewhat of a entomophagist myself. I can quite honestly say that I am probably one of a few that actually keep giant water bugs and ant eggs in my freezer. My pantry is also stocked with crunchy fried scorpions, mopane worms, silk worm pupae, and the occasional deliciously spiced batch of crickets (my movie snack). My two part question for you is, "who or what was your inspiration to want to experience new cultural foods such as insects (or for that matter, anything else)"? My second question is, "with all of the famine and people dying from starvation, do you feel that the world would benefit if they were to use insects as a main food source"? I think it would be beneficial for you to have a Bizarre Foods special to help raise awareness of this daily problem with a possible link on your website to be able to send donations or to volunteer time or services. I would definitely be one of the first to apply. Keep up the great work that you are doing and I hope to hear from you soon! Have a great holiday season!

Like most people here, I love your show. My question is: is it hard to get permission to go to other countries and sample their food? I am sure they need money to replace what you ate.

Andrew, I have to ask, and I am sure I am not the first. How often do you get sick from the “food” you eat?. What has made you the “most sick” and where did you eat this food?
I am a police Lieutenant and I “have” the officer watch your show after briefing. We all love it!! (it grosses us out, we can’t stop watching).
Thanks

I just want to know how in the world you find some of the things you eat? I would assume the good ol' internets... but some of it seems like it would be pretty hard to stumble upon. (looks around for the food ninjas to attack me for asking) Razz

I WAS LIKE YOU AT FIRST. IT TOOK ME YEARS TO TRY IT. FINALLY MY BEST FRIEND SHOW ME THIS WAY AND I LOVE IT EVER SINCE. NOW I COULD EAT ANY KINDS OF WAY. SHAKE IS MY FAVORITE.

Andrew, love the show!! But, I also love Anthony Bourdain! You don't seem to take the "processing" of some live animals as hard as he does. Do you or your show take negative feedback or grief on those shows where animals are harvested, processed and consumed? Being a carnivore and hunter myself, you have both prepared me for survival if I ever needed to do it in the field. Anyway, it's been a thought of mine since I've watched both you two on the Travel Channel. Thanks-in-advance, L.A.Dove.

Hi Andrew, Greetings from hometown St. Paul. Just watched your visit to Moracco and Marakesh, great episode (loved the roasted sheep's eyeball). There was one dish you purchased at an open market, a tub of "mystery" meat surrounded by yellow fat that you then cooked for breakfast with eggs. You rubbed your head (like Curly of the 3 Stooges!)it tasted so bad, like rancid rotted meat. Then you took another bite.

My suggestion for the show: You should start having a traveling dog buddy, an Australian Shepard or some other scrawny hungry mutt, and before you eat all that crazy stuff you should let the dog try it first - and see if he passes on it or not before you then try it. It'd be really funny to see a dog turn up their nose and then have you chop down a few bites! Think of the added ratings!

Andrew, does your system ever take any time to acclimate to the foods in foreign countries? I know that most people have a couple of days where their system is a little off when going to say Mexico, so do you have the same problem, or is your body used to eating so many different foods that it has permanently adjusted?

Also, have you ever gotten sick from any of the foods you've eaten on your trips, such as bacteria or parasites? Sometimes the water conditions in some of the places look as though they may not be the healthiest environment for fish, etc.

Sick, sick, sick!!
I would have to assume that you are a vegetarian by your post? I can totally understand your feelings toward those of us who eat meat, but man/woman has been a meat eater since time began. How each society handles the way they kill the animals that they choose to eat has also been happening for thousands of years. Andrew is just there to experience this and to show us the customs/cultures of the different countries. We in the USA can not go out to other places and say, " Hey, the way you kill your food is unethical so now you have to stop!" Hey, eating monkeys, dogs, guinea pigs, etc. just doesn't fit into the all American diet so you can't do that either." No, these are the animals available in abundance to these indigenous peoples like the guinea pigs in the Philippines; easy and fast to breed. If I wanted to I could get Biblical but I won't as that will open a whole can of worms here, but I think that most people are meat eaters (at least those who are fans). Human teeth are made to chew meat. Our digestive systems are designed to digest meat. Personally, I'm very thankful for the show so that I can see how other cultures live and what they do for food. Cool

Not everyone has to be vegetarian to realize that this show exposes some of the horrors of the world. That said, yes humans are natural meat eaters, but that doesn't mean we need to see all the grotesqe details of how this sick person eats animals. There are many people who do not find this entertaining at all and I think it's unfortunate that they dont just show this program at a later time in the day or have more limitations on viewing it. I think it's sad. Especially coming from a channel that has some of my favorite shows!

Hi Andrew,

Love your show and I am a fear factor foodie kinda guy myself. I hope to follow in your foodsteps as well.

I travel to both Japan and Philippines on a regular basis, and I LOVE DURIAN (remind me to explain the levels of expertise taste to you).

I also review restaurants in Yelp.com as Frankie J.

Just a quick clarification, on your Osaka trip, the place where you ate the harumon (sounds like 'hormone', pig windpipe, large intestine, pig uterus) was not Dotonbori. The place is called Tsutenkaku.

Believe it or not, it is one of the more dangerous areas to go to. Of course, in Japan, that just means they pick up every OTHER cigarette butt off the sidewalk, and not EVERY one.

Good food hunting!

Hi there.
I have a question regarding the recent Japan episode. Specifically the weird ice creams. Which convenient store (in which area) did you buy that from?

I would like to visit the store and try them out.

Thank you

Andrew, I want to know if you ever get indigestion from the foods you eat and how you handle that? Do you bring a supply of antacids or use local herbs? Are there food items that you have to prepare mentally for before eating or are you able to just try anything without worrying?

Hi Andrew. I am going on a trip to Costa Rica soon, and we were warned about the effects some foods can have on our bodies. I am wondering if you have ever had any ailment similar to "Montezuma's Revenge" with all the crazy things you have eaten? Or has your body build such a tolerance that it can handle everything?

Hi Andrew, My name is Tom. I love the show. I would like to try to get into the contest to cohost a show.Unfortionitly, I don't have the equipment to send a video.I am 46 years old. I have been told I like to eat strange things. Nothing like your show, of course.I'm sure I've seen every episode of your show, more then once. There are a few things I don't think I could eat, but not too, many.I think I would be a good chioce for the guest cohost. I would enjoy it. I was in a bad motorcycle accident, and am on disablitiy. So I would have the time and the ability to do a show. It's tough for me to say why I would be a good chioce. Give me a chance for an interview. Thank You, Tom

I give you much credit for having the guts so to speak to taste things not everyone would consider food or be willing to try. I have an interesting question for you. In some tribal cultures it is not uncommon to eat the body of a deceased tribal member. Yafufla tribe members from New Guinea both men and women still eat human flesh. After tying the tribesman to a tree he is killed with arrows then a stone ax is used to chop off his head. Which is then held in the air and turned away from the body, others chant and dismember the body. They cut out his intestines and break open the rib cage, chopped off the right arm attached to the right rib cage, the left arm and left rib cage, and then both legs. They eat everything but bones, teeth, hair, fingernails and toenails and the penis. Would you be willing to try it?

Andrew,
I love to watch you eat all the bizarre foods around the World and watch you hold back you displeasure as trying not to upset the locals. I do have one request that could make you the "bizarre" food master over Anthony and the guy from "Man vs. Food": On one your Mexico episodes you mention that there aren't many foods that haven't crossed your lips (or something of the sort)...why don't you take this to the next level and go CANNIBAL for us? It would make you the king of bizarre...you already lean on taboo so why not take it there?

Have you ever considered visiting Saint Vincent and the Grenadines? How about Barbados or Antigua? Or Turks and Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, and St. Kitts and Nevis? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE ALASKA LOOK SO STUPID?!!

You made all of alaska look like we live a subsistance life style, while many of us do hunt and fish so that we can spend less money during the winter, most of the population does not eat these things.
I understand that these native dishes are what you came to alaska for, but you didnt show any cities, only Girdwood, and thats not a good representation of what is really in Alaska, we already have enough of a problem with misunderstandings and you certainly didnt help!!

Well, i do think this show is called "bizarre foods" that's Andrew's specialty and whats weird to you, may be natural to others. And besides, he talks about the spots with the least common foods EVERYWHERE he goes, so the way i understand you is that he makes every place misunderstood because they have unusual food. And why does it even matter that Alaskan food is misunderstood? Every place has unusual food, i live in new york, and we don't even have native food, it's all imported or adapted due to cultural diffusion. New York has everything under the sun, so don't be complaining about people thinking that you are weird! Mad

Hi Andrew! I was wondering, first, if you've ever considered trying bizarre foods that have legal restrictions in some countries. What brought this to mind was an article about Casu Marzu, a Sardinian cheese made from Pecorino that has live larvae in it. Also, how do you feel about foods that are prepared in ethically questionable ways. Foie gras gets a lot of attention, but there are some that seem more extreme to me, like Ikizukuri - fish that's served still alive. Where do you draw the line?

Hi Andrew,
Although much exotic food can be masked with sauces and spices, some of the food you eat can be so rank that it's simply gross.

How is it that you never ever gag when something is truly disgusting? (e.g. chinses stinky tofu, alaskan rotted whale fat, and the japanese rice rotted salted dried fish). I can barely type it without gagging....although part of me want to try each one.
