I don't know when it became trendy, much less socially acceptable, to chew food with your mouth open, smack your lips and chomp your food. I love your show but have to mute it because you sound like a pack of wolves eating when you slurp, chomp and smack your lips. Get the microphone away from you mouth at least. As for eating weird stuff, cool, open some minds. Just because we live our lives in America being fed from drive-through windows doesn't make what others eat weird. In fact, I've been all over the world as a pararescue tech and have eaten more "foods" than I care to admit to. In the end, live life to the fullest, just do it with some etiquette.

I hear ya! I will never - NEVER - watch this guy's show again. Watching him eat made me sick to my stomach. Not because of all the weird stuff, but because he looked and sounded like an animal. Disgusting. I don't know how he has a television show.

Just cause you can hear him chewing doesn't make it a bad show!! As a Southerner who has led a sheltered life, I find it really interesting! I have always said that I will try anything once - even though after watching I think I might change that to I will try "almost" anything once... but, well, I guess hearing him chew makes it more "real". I feel more into the show cause of it I guess... I don't know - it doesn't bother me.

There are three bad eating habits that are like nails on a chalkboard for me - chewing with an open mouth, finger-licking and chomping. Andrew isn't as engaging as Anthony Bourdain, who is our all-time TLC favorite for many reasons. But as I understand it, in some cultures, food chomping is high praise to the chef/cook. I first experienced it years ago eating with friends from Hong Kong. It took me by surprise, but then learned it is equivalent to Western culture verbally praising the meal. People like Andrew are something of a food ambassador for us. He should understand the culture of area he visits and respect the mannerisms. It also rubs me the wrong way when he is less discrete about the foods he doesn't like. His facial expressions could be considered insulting. Spitting out the Durian was not what I'd expect from the "Bizarre Foods" guy. That faux paux reminded me of Bobby Flay jumping on the food preparation surface in the Iron Chef America Special.

I have to admit, I joined this site JUST so I could go off on this disgusting habit Mr. Zimmern has. Lets face it, NO ONE wants to listen to you eat with your mouth open. All this poo about how it enhances the flavor - great, do it on your OWN time, not on a TV show promoting wierd foods. Just because the food is wierd, doesn't mean the table manners have to be. The whole "other cultures find it sexy" does not fly either - as you do the show for an american audience- who don't dig pig eating habits. Come on, Bobby Flay can change, so can you Zimmern.

I could care less if I hear him eating. I barely notice it in fact. I prefer he describes the taste and texture before he swallows. It is what makes his show great, the way he personalizes the experience. Bourdain is great, but his descriptions amount to "That was good", or "That tasted bad".
Just deal with it.

Still ticked about your Alaska show...you are offending to me when you eat like a starved maniac, though you are far from starved. I am disgusted by your loud, open-mouthed chewing and smacking. I don't watch your show as much as I use to since you did that joke in Alaska. I now watch Anthony Bourdain and love his style and manners compared to YOU! Did anyone explain to you that in Alaska, particularly with the Tlingit people, that if you make faces and make nasty comments about the food layed before you, that you will be banished from ever being invited to any feast, given any of the best foods? Once you pass the test of respecting the food given you the first time, from then on, you will be given the best and finest food. Not you! You make faces and tell how disgusted you are with the food. Do that to me and I'll dumb all the food over your shiny head!

I consider an honor to be invited to dinner -especially if its cooked for me, in their own home.I love Andrew but I would prefer if he kept a nice complacent face in case he didnt like a food item- instead of making faces or comments-and would give us a true description of the item flavors after leaving the place- I would be offended if I prepare something especially for him and he would say is hideous! I think Bourdain is a drunk- every episode has an abundant helping of him stuffing his face with beer, of course if you drink so much you can eat dodo and find it wonderful!

GG modernists...way to bring your Eaton College manners in to the picture...every consider the rest of the world is not interested in joining a WASP country club? I bet your proletariat ancestors couldn't afford it, anyway.
Just be sure to eat your ramen noodles quietly. Enjoy your corn dogs and fried twinkies. Oh yeah, in wine tasting, you spit it out...classy.

In many cultures, slurping, burping and noisy eating is a sign to the cook that you are enjoying your feast. If you don't like the way Andrew eats, don't watch. Geesh.
