I've had the pleasure of traveling through Asia for the past 8 years and eating and experiencing all types of foods. This show has inspired me to be more open-minded as a traveler.

It is NOT with astonishment that a lot of people will universalize their values to everyone in the world. It is this ethnocentrism that have allowed those people to judge everyone else based on how they believe the world should operate. I love Andrew Zimmern's "Bizarre Foods" television show. It keeps me informed on other cultures cusines, traditions, and lifestyles. Would I eat animal private parts, brains, fetus, and all anything shown on the show? "Heck No" because that's my personal belief but, it doesn't make me stop supporting Andrew Zimmern by watching him eat up the types of "Bizzare Foods" he is brave enough to test out. I don't think that anyone has a right to insult other peoples heritage, educational background, living arrangements, choice of cultural foods or lifestyle. I don't think anyone would make a big deal whatsoever if Andrew Zimmern was eating animal feces and drinking their urine. You'd probably laugh or nearly puke but, no one would be awwhh he's harming animals. I eat pot roast, kneck bones, fried frog legs and fried alligator tail because I like it but, some cultures may find it groce. Oh' Well then. I'm southern and in my household my family ate possums, pig ears, chitterlings, ox tails, spam, ham, boiled okra, pickled chicken feet, pork rinds, and I wouldn't dare eat those things until this day because I don't care for them at all and thats my choice. I still can laugh with my family at the dinner table while they enjoy them and I eat other things that satisfy my taste buds. Overall I think the show is wonderful and I don't and won't miss and episode for anything or anyone. Like a few other people said before just change the channel like they do when you see that poor little ethiopian, latin or asian child standing in a field of poverty/garbage with no food, tattered clothing and no shoes on "feed the children". There are folks who dont feel comfortable sending money to those organizations because they may feel its a scam, can't afford it or just dont give a hoot. No one is forcing you to watch Mr. Zimmern let the great man with a "Iron Stomach" eat the things the rest of us would not dare. Hey Im scared to even eat street food so, if its what you like then eat it up. You all have a wonderful day I just wanted to say "If it looks good.....EAT IT"

Oh! where can I buy a Bizarre Foods T-Shirt? Last but, not least I gotta know have you ever gotten sick from eating any foods? And if the man enjoyed eating live animals and half of the things he's eaten do you think he'd frown up sometimes or spit out the food or even talk about how rank it can be/ not edible? The man is not money hungry or a possible serial killer he's just exploring other cultures and doing a great job so leave him alone with all this cruelty to animals. Hey they gona just die anyway like every thing else will its inevitable.

I also watched Man Vs. Wild and the man at a dang on funk skunk. Yeah he trapped it with some string and bending branches then found a coat out in the middle of the dessert that he threw over the skunks backside since the skunk was spraying out that horrible odor we all smell at times while driving down the highway or an various roadways. Anyway Bear cut off the skunks head then burned all the hair off the skunk then decided to cut off everything from the hindlegs on back because of its defensive spray glands. Luckily he cooked the skunk due to high risk of possible rabies so ,the high heat over the fire would kill off any viruses. As he ate a piece of the cooked skunk he said it taste like a beef steak rolled around in feces.. NOw thats pretty darn nasty yall. The man was trying to survive but, atleast he did what he had to do for someone else life to be saved. Later on the same episode he killed a snake by cutting off its head the cooking it and saved the snake skin to urine in so, he could drink it therefore, not being dehydrated in the dessert. God Bless the Man because I watch every episode of Man Vs. Wild and its informative. Basically, these shows may not be your cup of tea but they are informative and could possibly save your life one day. Then again your never know what you like until you give it a try. For example I was repulsed by sushi for years until I tried with my friend from trinidad and I eat it quite often although my family thinks its groce.lol

If people are going to defend what Andrew eats, then I think it would only be fair to show how the animal is killed.

Really, the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality by many people on this thread is the zenith of selfishness.

Man is lead by his stomach, and when his food source runs out, watch out...

If you don't like the show then change the channel. I watch the show because I'm curious what other countries eat (bizarre or normal). You know what..I've come to respect other cultures. It's not all about the food, you got to look beyond that. Bizarre Foods is awesome!

Intellectually honest people understand that “Bizarre Foods” is far more than unusual foods. It’s educational and it helps viewers learn and understand the varied cultures and lifestyles around the world and what better way to learn and understand a culture than through the breaking of bread.

What are you talking about? Steve Irwin tortured and teased animals. Neither Andrew Zimmern or anyone on his shows were doing any such thing! And just because someone happens to live in a "3rd World" country does not mean that they are unintelligent or have no education. Asian countries have higher levels of intelligence and higher education scores than the U.S.!

This is very well presented show, that goes beyond just the food, and I learn more about the real food that the citizens of each country eats.

Bravo to the OP for such a compassionate post. For everyone who thinks that animal torture is an entitlement of being human, I ask you to think again. It is not natural to torture an animal for our pleasure. It is kind to make sure that an animal does not suffer if it is going to be killed for food. Where is the compassion in the average person these days?

As a Professional Chef I am highly disgusted at this show and say "Shame on YOU Travel Network, for promoting Animal Cruelty".
