I just saw a segment about fried dill pickles in
which The Hollywood Grill? Cafe? in Mississippi
claims to have "invented" this southern treat in
1970.I beg to differ with their claim.I enjoyed
fried dill pickles at the Park and Eat Drive In
on U.S. Hwy 1 between Southern Pines and Aberdeen,NC in 1965.This classic drive-in was
the gathering spot for local teens until the
mid 1970s when it became the victim of "urban sprawl".

My sister called me tonight after having seen a program regarding this same "boast" & informed me that she had eaten same @ Jan-Lynn Drive in in Rogers. AR around the same time as you claim, so I believe someone is NOT checking their facts prior to airing them! If people are eating something in the mid-1960's, it is hard to boast to having "invented" them in the 1970's, isn't it?
