I would love this show, (though it is a less than half-as-good knockoff of No Reservations), but I can not bare to hear the torturous sound of andrew's slobbing on his food and drink. Is it absolutely neccessary to mic his mouth while he eats? It seems as if he tries extra hard to eat obnoxiously loud. Please cancel this show, or stop with the chewing ear torture.

I completely agree, having to listen to Andrew chomp and slurp makes me want to blow chunks.

LMAO! oh thats too funny.... have a hard time bearing it myself. I have to look away when he's chewing some disgusting slimey, gooey, crunchy thing. But he probably has to explain at the moment what it tastes, smells e.t.c, I guess?

LOL!!!! I came on this site to see if i could just write in to the show....then i found this. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who finds this disgusting. When I first started watching the show I found it interesting. Now his slurping, smacking and sucking are just gettin on my last nerve! And if I hear him describe one more thing as "nutty" I'm gonna scream! What? Does he eat a bag of peanuts every night in his hotel room?

The guy's bites are way too big, sometimes his entire mouth is fill with food. Like the show though.

Actually the crunching and slurping noises give us more info about the texture of the food. Those wishing to travel to these locations and experiment with the local cuisine will benefit from this. Sorry, gotta play devil's advocate here, poor Andrew's way outnumbered.

Well, I guess I'm like everyone else that was coming here to post about the obnoxious chewing. I cannot stand the sound of it. We all sit here and cringe everytime just because we can't stand the sound. Something really needs to be done about this. Move the mic down a button or something!!!

Come on people, if you can't stand the sound, mute your TV, or go watch MTV or something.
The added sounds add extra information to viewers, and I for one really find it beneficial to hear the crunchy sound of texture or other sounds.
If you're complaining about this you're not a food adventurer. Someone who is into other foods will enjoy all the facets of eating that food, including the various sounds of eating the food.
Too many people here born and bred eating Big Macs and fries and have no concept of adventure eating.
Get a life people!

Averageguy08, your arguments are ridiculous. What "extra information" does the abhorrent sound of Andrew Zimmern's closely mic'd lips convey to viewers? Crunchy sound? Please. Does it not suffice for him to explain that the food has a crunchy texture? When have you ever watched the show, seen him eat something deep fried or otherwise crunchy and distinctly noticed a "crunch?"
The sound that people here are complaining of is a "smack." It's the sound of his overexaggerated, open-mouthed chomping coupled with the unnecessarily close proximity of the mic that drives everyone crazy. It's obviously intentionally amplified during mixing, and can therefore be turned down before production. If 9 out of 10 viewers find it annoying, chances are, the 10th guy (you) is wrong, and probably annoying himself.
To assert that someone who finds Zimmern's artificial and unnecessary noise-making irritating is not a "food adventurer" is just asinine. Do you eat with your mouth wide open? Do you forcefully make cartoon-like mouth chomps when you eat? Do you purposefully gather saliva at the edges of your mouth and purse your lips to eat? Is that what "adventure eating" entails?

I too am watching an episode that I DVR'd, and have become addicted to the show, but fear i cannot continue to watch it if he keeps smacking and slurping while simultaneously talking. Plenty of entertainers eat and talk, the difference is the others don't slurp or smack, rather they chew the food, swallow, then talk with an empty mouth! This is not meant to be hateful- I love watching Andrew, but the mic-enhanced smacking is a deal-breaker, as evidenced by all these messages (and I thought I was just venting about one of my great pet peeves...apparently I am NOT alone). Thank you!!!
