Hi,
I usually don't watch your show, but as I have been to St. Petersburg, Russia several times, have my BA in Russian Studies and am working toward my MA in Russian lit (19th c.)and teach Russian culture, I couldn't wait to watch the St. Petersburg episode. I am enjoying the show especially since I have eaten at several of the restaurants shown and seen many of the tourist places. However, some of your facts about St. Petersburg are wrong. 1> St. Petersburg was named after Saint Peter, not Peter the Great. It was FOUNDED by Peter the Great in 1703. 2) The Catherine Palace was actually constructed originally for Catherine I, the wife of Peter the Great and emperess after his death. Catherine the Great was married to Peter III and ruled after his assassination. She did spend time in the Catherine Palace and did update it some, but it wasn't built for her.
