I stayed at Mandalay Bay last time I was in Vegas. I have walked through this hotel many times and wondered what it would be like to stay there.
The cost was a little bit higher than most of the hotels but I was going with a small child and I knew that we would probably be spending more time at the pool than the card table so I decided to find the best pool in Vegas and everything seemed to point toward Mandalay.
The pool was great, pretty crowded but there was enough room to spread out so it never really drove me crazy. They have a lazy river, a heated pool, a normal pool, and a wave pool. The only thing missing was a kiddie pool. I spent most of my time in the wave pool which was pretty long and had some waterfalls and stuff. Nothing more fun than people watching in a Vegas lazy river... If you bring your own raft, they will blow it up for you and you do not have to pay the outrageous rental fees.
The room we had was nice but a little dated. They built a new hotel on the grounds called the Hotel at Mandalay Bay. It is much nicer but has smaller rooms and is more pricey. I decided to go with the bigger space. They bumped me to a sweet for an etra $50 per night which gave me a huge bathroom with a hot tub. The view is excellent. We felt like we were in the middle of the strip and could see everything.
The food at Mandalay Bay great. We tried the buffet, Wolfgang, and a Mexican restaurant. The decor of the restaurants is the highlight and the food does not really live up to the atmosphere but it is still fun.
Overall, I would recommend Mandalay to people who are looking for a hotel that has it all so that they never have to leave. It is also great for families because of the pool.

As an employee of Mandalay Bay, it's very nice to see these kind words about our hotel/casino. You posted in Feb. of your trip with child. Wanted you to know that The Hotel portion has been updated to modernize the rooms since opening in 1999. I may be incorrect, but it is my understanding that all the rooms are now suites with plasmas and upgraded furniture. Having never been in one (before or after renovation), can only rely on scuttle-butt from other employees as to their opulence. Supposed to be super now!!!

I will be staying at Mandalay Bay this summer (Aug.) for my birthday. I have never stayed there before. I usually stay at Ceasars, Venetian, Bellagio. Can you tell me what the best rooms with the best view are please. I enjoy a great room and I would like something special this trip since its my BD. I am rated at the other hotels and usually get comps and up grades. I see you are an employee can you help me?

I have stayed at both sections of Mandalay Bay in the past two years. I loved The Hotel, despite the views of the conference center and the airport (actually, there was an interesting view of the main hotel as well). The suite was nice enough not to need a view. Sadly, the TV in the bathroom didn't get movies... The main hotel room was nice enough (though not as posh as The Hotel), but pretty noisy into the wee hours as there were lots of partying 20-somethings and nothing on the hall floor to damp down the noise.
