I have a suggestion that may help in doing further audio analysis. Cool Edit has a Spectral View (no pun intended) that can show vastly more information than the green waveform view that I've seen being used, at least in the episode that aired today. Voices especially may be seen more clearly in this view. Comparing how the audio 'looks' in this view before and after noise removal can also be illuminating.

I am the original author of Cool Edit, so to see it on TV today was a very cool Christmas present for me... thanks!
