OK so I lost my 2 pups I had grown up with when they were 14. one died then the next 1 few days later. They were my best friends. I know, I'm a dork. I have never had the unconditional love that they gave me from any human. I think any dog/cat lover will tell you they surely do have souls. Now I would love nothing more then to believe they are waiting for me at the rainbow bridge but I am skeptical and don't know what to believe. Anyway not long ago a friend sent me a book about dealing with pet loss, and the afterlife, it gave me great comfort. Well I saw a after show interview on youtube and someone asked the guys that. Aaron said the bible says animals had no souls so no, there's no animal ghosts. Zak had kinda hesitated but didn't disagree but did bring up the time they felt that dog ghost in Scotland. It made me upset all over again, I don't understand why people think animals have no souls or feelings just because of the bible. Anyway, any thoughts?
I have had several cats come back from the other side to visit, me, so I personally KNOW that some part of their consciousness survives the demise of the physical body. Have had them run across the bed when nothing was seen, heard phantom meows right next to me, and was even scratched on the leg one time and felt the thump-thump-thump of paws hitting me when it happened.
Any living thing has a soul, people, animals, mammals, plants ect. Anything that has any type of energy is part of the whole universe. God created the universe. I do not take what the bible say to heart. It was created by man not God. So yes your pets do have souls. So sorry for your loss. It is painful to loss them. I have lost pets that I have had for a long time and they were part of my family as much as my children are. Blessings to you.
Awww thanks Rahski for your kind words. That book my friend sent had all kinds of stories about just like what multimind said, but they had all kinds of nice poems and quotes from all kinds of animal lovers, including Abe Lincoln. I'm better now, it's been about 6 months and I have a wonderful new puppy who won't let me be sad, LOL! Oh and there was the nicest quote about how love is like an unbreakable chain that binds us thru eternity, if I can find it I'll put it up. Thanks guys you cheered me up
I believe animals have souls and can become spirits. I have encountered a spirit of a cat at my friend's house a few years back. He died several months before. I heard meows outside her door and I heard something moving down the hall, lightly.
Humans are indeed arrogant to believe they are the only ones who have souls. And are the only ones deserving for the Afterlife, next celestial plane or Heaven. Whatever you believe in.
I'm sorry for your loss, hun. It must be painful - I wouldn't know. But I hope that they're in a better place. :3
yes i honestly and fully believe animals have souls and can cross over or stay behind as ghosts. i have seen my cat "spazzy" on several occassions this year after he disappeared in the woods behind my house. there is a cougar in the area suspected of killing pets right now. i think it got him. i would thereafter see spazzy walking thru the kitchen out of the corner of my eye , turn my head to look at him and he is gone. my heart would skip a beat at the surprise of it and i get goosebumps but not afraid of him. he would also jump onto my bed at night as i slept as he would always do when alive. and i would reach out to pet him ha;lf asleep thinking oh hey spazzy! but then realize he isnt really there cuz he is dead.

lucygirl So sorry to hear about your babies, but I believe that our pets do go on to heaven, and when it is our turn to be in heaven they will be there to greet us.
God made animals before he made man, so you can imagine how much animals mean to him. He also made animals have an unconditional love about them. The same kind of love that God has for us. I think what some people refer to in the Bible is saying animals do not have a conscious and can not make choices as we can. Thats why people believe animals do not go to heaven.
There have been many people that have died and come back to life to tell what they have seen in both heaven and hell, but there are many people that say they saw their beloved dogs or pets while in heaven. God blesses us with pet animals on earth, why wouldn't he allow us to be blest with them in heaven. For the believers that animals do not go to heaven read the passage in the Bible that speaks of Jesus comming back riding a horse, and the heavens opened and angels were riding on white horses.

Rahski - thank you ! That one was one of my faves too MidnightRider, thanks so much for your kind words you actually made me cry. My mom died when I was 12 in a car wreck, so now I like to think she has 2 wonderful pups to watch her, and now I have 3 guardian angels
