I love the series, but really have trouble with the "testosterone-laced", macho foolishness, which equates being "tough" and verbally-abusive with researching the paranormal!

It has been righteously established that "entities" are energy, and thus, are as "alive" as are we. As such, it seems that they would appreciate being spoken to in a respectful manner, and acknowledged as the wondrous beings that they are! i have never, myself, desired to communicate with anyone who calls me names, and seeks to humiliate my self-worth, so why would entities want to participate in a television programme, where they are demeaned and castigated?

Provoking is employed by another series, ostensibly designed to ferret-out "the paranormal". That show is also conducted by those with an overabundance of hubrus, and "beer-muscles"!

How anyone can seek to intimidate and bait beings which they cannot even SEE, let alone have any sort of "defenses" against...is just beyond me! It is the technique of foul-mouthed school-boys, and not serious, professional seekers-of-truth.

I am disappointed that Zak, with whom I had a correspondence some 3 years ago, and who seemed to be a terrific guy, chooses to use that all-American style of "kicking-a**", instead of the approach he used at the old hotel. This makes Zak and Company look silly, and not what I believe they are...and that is "seekers", of the highest order...

Zak, you might intice some "spectral hitchhikers" to follow you home, bro!

Wow, you read my mind! I was going to post the very same thing.....

I totally agree! I love the show, but Zak is unwise in provoking malevolent and/or demonic entities the way he does. Even the priest in one of the episodes told him that he is not facing anything from the physical world but spiritual, something he is not prepared to fight with!!!!
This is not a game, be careful!

mistressmoon...

I am watching a replay of the show, and Zak isn't kidding, when he seems startled! Wouldn't it be wise to stop "mouthing-off", when you don't know what you're up-against?? He keeps saying, "Is there 'something' behind me? What is behind me???" Then, he launches into playing the "tough guy", which always makes me feel as if the speaker is really "whistling past the graveyard"!

One other thing: As someone who has had poltergeists, of and on, for 3 years, I learned, early-on, that "acknowledging"...showing "respect"...and, being "cordial" go a long way toward "keeping the peace" with entities!

When they first began "visiting" me, I doubted my own sanity, and said so, aloud! They immediately showed me that they were neither a figment of my imagination, nor "wishful thinking"!!! And, since then, I am a firm believer in treating them, as I wish to be treated. This, expecially, since I am a widow, live alone, and would have to "do battle" on my own, if they decided to "get ugly"!!! (LOL!)

So, my visitors come and go, as they please, and I am complimented that they like it here. It might be my late husband, and I like to keep chatting with him, as i did when he was "here"! Whoever it is, I find it fascinating, and a distinct privilege...

Yeah I know what you mean, and if he thinks his tough-guy act and muscles are enough to stand up to these spirits, he's definitely gonna get more than he bargained for!!!

I wish Zak and his team the best of luck, they're gonna need it!

Thanks for posting..

Interesting....

I have been interested in the Paramormal since I was very little. I picked up and read every ghost book I could find. I love watching the shows on tv, videos on the net, sharing ghost stories with people... It's always been a passion of mine. I can't help it, I'm drawn to it!! However, it hasn't been as concrete as your experiences, so I am fascinated when I hear other encounters.

Some of you people just dont get it.Provoking is the only way to get the paranormal to act...I mean look at the other shows..They visit some of the hauntest places around and they hardly get nothing because they are to chicken **** to communicate force to get anything Paranormal to happen...I say to deal with the unknown is to go about it the way zak is doing so.....If they were to change the game then it would be a wash out....Besides Zak gives me a laugh when provoking these entities or ghost. As far as testosterone laced like what was posted above-you need such drugs like deca, test cyp ,test enth,sust250,winstrol,d-bol if you are gonna get anything like maco foolishness which is something like roid rage.Zak has not been such as expressed.....Keep up the great work zak....provoke all dam nite long...keep em coming back for more....FD

I actually think Zak has a highly effective methodology at invoking activity, but I do agree that he could slightly tweak his technique, to be a little less challenging and juvenile.

His LOUD, commanding presence though, is KEY to achieving the types of interactions that seperate G/A from the rest of the groups out there IMO.

What he could do, is keep the same commanding presence and attention-grabbing techniques, without the challenging / ridicule of the entities.

If anyone remembers the psychic medium Peter James from the show "Sightings", he had a very similar technique to Zak in terms of invoking measurable activity---The only difference was the challenging and ridiculing of the spirits.

But James would basically walk into a location and take charge, with a BOOMING voice and literally command the ghosts to interact with him.

He would shout out, "GIVE ME A SIGN OF YOUR PRESENCE, NOW!" Or "MAKE YOUR PRESENCE KNOWN."

And his results were much like Zak's---He would usually have a response that could be heard or seen (and recorded) after a few minutes.

Zak's approach and presence reminds me a lot of James', perhaps he will evolve it as the investigations go on, where he will no longer need the hostility to achieve the dramatic interactions.

It takes more emotional and, for lack of a better term, chi/ki to provoke. It's believed that spirits can feed off of that energy.

In the military it's well known how drill instructors yell at the recruits. The reason for this is the same reason that Zak and I provoke the way we do. It gets an immediate response. The energy we release can be transferred to the person, or spirit in this case, making it possible for the receiver of this energy to act.

Zak does not always provoke, as shown in the last episode. The little boy spirit would have been afraid of a man screaming at him and would have ran and hid. Zak talked to this boy calmly, yet directly so as not to frighten this kid. And it worked.

This Mr. Boots on the other hand was responsible for being cruel and mean to many people. Provoking and belittling this evil spirit was the right thing to do. It got an immediate reaction. If Zak had talked to him in a timid voice, asking him for tea and crumpets, he may have not gotten a response.
