Great show guys as always u bring the best out in these buildings. So you all know it is not talked about very offten but, this was also a place where unwanted children not diabled were droped off at as well as children with ADD or ADHD. There are even books you can fined that patients have written about their experiences in pennhurst. There have been many cover ups even with the tunnels thats why they are so active, parts have been since torn down and blocked to make it seem as if it never existed. As for the hospital it was not the original, the original was what is now the vetrins center. There were also cabins that were visited back in 68 that have been torn down you can see them if you watch the videos from the news cast. All in all it is one of many haunted places in spring city but by far the one with the most history behind it. Once again guy thank you for checking it out and maybe you can come do it again sometime and do the other buildings.
I can't even begin to imagine the emotion that is tied to those buildings. I have a cousin that is mentally handicapped & it makes me angry & sad that she could have been sent to a place like that if she had been born earlier. I'm interested in knowing the feelings you guys might have felt when you were there.
Best wishes to you guys in your future adventures.
It is so sad and disturbing to know that ppl were treated this way. I can't begin to imagin how horrible it would be, especially being tortured. Seriously, who it their right mind would think the resolution to a biting problem is to have their teeth pulled out. I couldn't think of a better place to have so much negative energy to be attached to. It breaks my heart to think ppl were treated this way.
Sadly enough it was all too common place for many of the asylums across the US, along with the world, to be guilty of such inhumane acts against helpless, innocent, and sometimes young victims. As a matter of fact, there are some instituions in which this may still be a factor. Maybe not as grusome or grotess, but inflicting more pain than assisting in healing patients. As said in the post previously, there is more to this asylum than has been told to the GA crew. So much has been hidden and concealed to never be told. I am glad I never had to witness such horrible acts agains our own race. By the descriptions and written accounts of this place, it seemed to be a form of genosicde, just not a certain religion or culture. But against an inferior and mentally challenged society in which someone felt they had no place in OUR NORMAL society.
What we learned about Pennhurst tonight was so beyond words horrible. Imo, none of those spirits could be patients. None of those poor kids would ever have wanted their souls to stay there and their death was probably release. I think the spirits left there are guilty, angry...maybe the little girl is one of the staff's children? That might explain the anger? Makes more sense in my mind anyhoo....
I just can't see why any soul would want to remain somewhere so dark willingly after they have suffered so much. Bless those poor Pennhurst patients. I feel so bad for them....
As I posted in another Thread, IMO, this was one of thee best shows yet.
It reminded me of when Geraldo Rivera did a story on the Willowbrook facility (in NJ?), back in the 70's or early 80's. Same type of horrific conditions for those poor individuals, and man did Geraldo blow the cover off of THAT place!
