Well, Queenstown is the home of bungy jumping if you have the cash, or can fenagle a free jump. Besides bungy jumping Queenstown is adrenaline center. There is some good shopping in city center as well as good pubs. Go to Winniebago's for a Speight's and the best pizza in NZ. Keep an eye on the celling. Take a ride up the gondola and do the luge.

I never got to go to the south Island like my sister did, but What I've heard from her is that the luge is pretty fun.

Those all sound like damn good ideas. I'm all about good pubs and the pizza definitely sounds like a plan.

Although I have never tried, I would definitely like to bungy jump and I am sure I would be down for the luge as well... and if I am not sure I am sure Josh would talk me into it!

Thanks for the advice. Keep it coming.

You won't be testing your mortality at all. You'll be testing the intelligence of the guy hooking up your rubber band.

5 takes crew-

The best place to book the adrenaline activities, if you have enough cash, is The Station. It is right on the main drag in Queenstown. Also check at the hostel's, sometimes they can get you a deal.

if you have extra time, i really reccomend you go to nearby milford sound and take a boat tour of the sound. the views are amazing and you can get great pictures of a bunch of different waterfalls. it's definately worth it.

I booked myself a 10 day tour of the North & South Islands of NZ and I would have to say Queenstown was my favorite "city". Though it's much smaller than the others you'll be visiting, it just had this cozy, friendly feel to it.
Glenorchy is a small village about 45 kilometres from Queenstown. It is in the frontier/western style and is pretty neat.
One thing I wish I hadn't done while there: the bird park. It was cool to see a living Kiwi bird, but there was only 1 and the other birds were not that interesting. Definately not worth the $10 to get in.
If you need a place to stay I would suggest the Southern Laughter Lodge/backpackers. Good location (top of the hill off Camp st)and a very very nice place to stay! The best part is the decorations... there are comic strips in everyroomSmile
There is a bakery in town on one of the side streets(probably shotover st, if not it's Balarat st)off Camp st where we ate breakfast each morning, cheap and yummy!
Hope this helps a bit Big Grin

Nzone Skydive Description
The personal challenge is immense. Immense, because the only thing preventing you from enjoying skydiving, one of the most primal life shaping experiences, is your own mind. You must choose. To go through life able to say 'yes, I did it', or to go through life knowing that you had the opportunity, but you turned it down and walked away from becoming the complete person you could have been.

Experience the thrill and excitement of parachute jumping with a tandem Skydive above Queenstown located in the premier destination of New Zealand and amongst the most amazing scenery in the world.

Embrace the fear and tandem skydive in Queenstown. Harnessed by space age materials to an experienced qualified jumpmaster, fly to jump altitude, step out the aircraft, freefall for some 60 seconds reaching terminal velocity 200km/hr. Your jumpmaster will deploy the reinforced tandem canopy controlling your entire skydive.hear the web page

The best way to see Miford Sound is via kayak! You may even see some penquins.

Don't ever buy maori greenstone for yourself. You'll be cursed!
Jump the nevis bunjy if you have the balls to do it. About a 450 foot drop from a pod hanging in the middle of a canyon.

Queenstown is phenominal. It's got something for everyone, with tremendous scenic view, great food (make sure you try a Fergburger, well worth it), active nightlife (stop by Worldbar and drink out of teapots), and plenty of adrenelin rushes. The Kawara bridge is scenic, but only 43 meters high. I'd highly suggest you do the Nevis, which is 134 meters high, the highest in Australasia. It's completely safe and the fall is actually quite peaceful. You really feel weightless. For a cheaper rush, try hiking up the mountain and taking a few runs on the street luge. You can take the gondala up if the hiking is too intense.

As someone mentioned before, a trip out to Milford Sound is well worth it. Give yourself 2 days, since the drive out there is very long, and there's a lot to take in.

Well If your in Queenstown u have to check out the Ice Bar. You should also check out the company Gravity Action mountain biking.http://www.gravityaction.com/ There is also a really kool activity that isn't too expensive called river boarding it's mega fun and exciting...just bring a waterproof camera. If your into something more laid back (free) hike the beginning of the Routburn Track. It's about a 1/2 day hike to the Routburn Falls.

I agree that your intelligence should not be tested by the guy who ties the rubber band. My husband (your cousin) says that he would jump out of a plane, but won't bungy jump. Ahh, come on, you only live once!!! Eek

Bungee jump the nevis, AMAZING time. also if you could try n check out like the random hiking around queenstown, we had a car when we were there so we stayed at this absolutely sick DOC campsite about 1.5 miles out of town (virtually free), right on the lake with the most incredible views of the remarkables, and alot of chill people around. luckily we had a friend in town to get reg. showers etc. but otherwise, queenstown is fun, great nightlife, i reccomend just chilling out, its a small enough town like cairns that you theres not too much of a scene that it will overwhelm. good luck n if i think of anything else ill post it.

If you have the time get out and do some tramping. The trails that surround Queenstown are incredible. The Routeburn is the more famous one, but The Caples is just as good minus the crowd. They can be strenuous but they are worth it. Also, again time permitting, get to Millford Sound, the drive alone is amazing, let alone when you get there.
