Several good places to eat while visiting Anchorage; I live in Anchorage so you can trust the references. 1), Simon & Seaforts, Downtown, steak, seafood, get reservations. 2), Glacier Brew house, Downtown, steak, seafood, in-house microbrew (good beer) be sure to visit the shops in the same building. 3), Orso, Downtown (right next to the brew house) very nice wine list. 4), Sullivan’s Stake house, Downtown in the mall. 5), Moose’s Tooth Pizza, awesome pizza better beer, very popular with the locals. 6), Dami Sushi, Downtown, not the best location but in my opinion they make the best Sushi in Alaska. 7), Gwennies on Spanard, very good breakfast very old building. 8), Any of the Downtown hotdog carts. Of course there are many fine places to eat in Anchorage this if just a short list of my favorites. Enjoy Alaska

Simon's is good but come on. Don't send him on the tour sponsored by the ACVB.

First should be The Double Musky in Girdwood.
Sushi should be either Peter's Sushi Spot or I luv Sushi. Both are top notch.
Humpy's for the BEER selection.
Then maybe a trip to Anchor Point or Clam Gulch to dig for Razor clams. Halibut fishing out of Homer. Saltwater Kings out of Southeast and then sashimi. Yeah buddy!

If the show needs a fixer let me know.

OK, sure, Humpy's for the beer, the Double Musky, and Moose's Tooth but not Gwennie's in Spenard. Was there earlier this week and was really, really disappointed. You can do much, much better. City Diner on Minnesota for breakfast or lunch, and I can also recommend Ray's Vietnamese on Spenard for a great lunch. For a nicer meal at dinner time: Ginger (new on 5th, downtown) was excellent. I also love Campo Bello and Terra Luna and Southside Bistro - all excellent!!

I was just in Anchorage about a week ago and wish I had seen this before. Went to Glacier Brewhouse and had the best chowder!! The rest of the meal was decent but not for the price. Phllyis's was not that great either, but that could have been because we had a real jerk for a waiter. The Lucky Monkey is a great coffee house and the staff is wonderful. Outside Anchorge Gwen's in Cooper Landing was the best find. Awesome breakfast and Lunch!! Reasonable prices and large portions. Homer had the best Hailibut...melted in your mouth!! For the most part never had a bad meal in Alaska. Love the Reindeer Sausage!!!!!

I would suggest the followng: 1.) Double Musky in Girdwood; 2.) Maxines-also in Girdwood; 3.) Glacier Brewhouse-for the chowder and the imperial blonde beer!; 4.) Hogs Brothers Cafe-best breakfast if you are not counting calories.. 5.) Snow City Cafe-great breakfast-downtown; 6.) Bear Tooth-Theatre Pub-same pizza and beer as Moose's Tooth, but more extensive menu + you can drink beer and watch movies!; 7.) If you are in Girdwood and need breakfast or lunch stop into the Bake Shop-for the best of both!

I found Glacier Brew a bit pricey but loved Humpy's & Gwennie's. others I've enjoyed are:

Chilkoot Charlie's - 2435 Spenard Rd
Dark Horse Coffee - 646 F St
F Street Station - 325 F St
Rumrunner - 415 E St
Snow Goose Restaurant & Sleeping Lady Brewery - 717 W 3rd Ave

I haven't been in Anchorage for a couple of years but when I was last there the Southside Bistro was outstanding.

They have a website, I don't have the address here but easy enough to Google!
