I was floored when Jeff Corwin had to stop on Shemya on his way to Attu. I spent 365 days there in 1959-60, in the Air Force. It is much more miserable than he could project. I don't know if it is still there, but at the time it housed the largest radar in the world. I don't remember the foxes as being brown. They were a dirty gray and shaggy. One of the favorite ways to get food was to kill a raven, then leave the carcass out near rock or a log. When other ravens would come to scavage, the foxes would jump out and get another one. I used to have pictures of a half dozen raven carcasses that the foxes had left. Never been back to Alaska and happy about that.
