Traveling with a group to Vegas next week! One friend has hearing issues, can you suggest quiet coffee shops, bars, loud is very annoying to this person as then they can't visit nor hear conversations. We're all at the MGM Grand.

I lived in LV for 4 yrs. & have similar hearing issues. !st: timing is everything even in noisey restaurants..if you are a little earlier or later it diminshes the crowd; also ask for a seat with the wall behind the hrg impaired person. If you are at MGM, you can easily walk/ride on the tram to the Luxor (more on this at end of note..it is a fun trip, maybe lesser so in the heat of July.August). There is Raffles in the Luxor. it is a huge restaurant overlooking their green space near the pool. I you mention the issue to the intake person as you go in, they can place you in one of the lovely smaller side rooms near the windows, that actually have doors if needed to shut out the noise. But the accoutics there are marvelous, and there are many alcoved roms, that whatever the size of your group, you will eat well, without the distraction of noise from other tables. You can eat the for $15, Lunch or Dinner (I think they serve breakfast too, but do not remeber). GETTING THERE: Walk across the elevated bridge to the Tropicana corner or the NY Corner. Walk across whichever bridges to the Excalibur elevated corner. From the Excalibur ask directions to the Tram (locals will point you to it, u do not need to go into the casino). It takes you to the Luxor and then the Luxor (Pyramid). Raffles is one of the many restaurants along the south side of the casino. You will find the casino noisey in most of the casinos, but their restaurants, usually, are quiet (remeber LV caters to tourists). The Delmonicos in it was the Luxor or the higher end hotel next door...I can't remember was noisey, very overpriced and lousey meat. The best steak on the strip for me (everyone has a favorite restaurant) was the Bon Ami in Paris. Use you common sesne..the restaurants that open onto the casinos propoer sans walls will be noisey. Excalibur's coffee shop has good food, quiet and reasonable prices almost 24 hours a day. I have not eaten at the MGM (one of the biggest casinos). Good luck, and let me know what you think. Also will you have a car or not?

OOps, Raffles is in Mandalay just south of the Luxor...so you ride tramp past luxor to Mandaly. Coming home, if time permits there is an indoor bridge between mandalay and Luxor...walk it and take tram from Luxor...there is an awesome sight to see as you are waiting on the Luxor's platform for the tram. Not along wait.
