its a great concept. sort of like samantha brown's great hotels. and i guess in the end, thats what's missing here- a cool host that fits these hip places. in another post, i mentioned my hope for some diversity of hosts. this seems like the type of show that could easily have a non-white host. im an asian-american woman and do travel frequently. and when i do, i always try to stay at hip hotels. these boutique-type hotels defintitely attract a cool crowd- and certainly diverse. normally, when i watch tv, i dont "play the race card". but in the case of the new programming for travel channel, i am pretty disappointed to not seem more diversity represented. i mean, isnt travel channel about seeing new places, different peoples, new cultures etc. etc? hopefully in the future, travel channel will consider other types of hosts! ill look forward to it.

What's not to like about the concept? I love seeing these cool hotels. It ties into my other post, where I talk about the need for a show on architecture. I wonder: Why can't there be a show on not just extreme hotels, but wild museums, cool bars, funky shops etc. There are so many amazing new buildings out there,... even as an architect myself, I can't keep us. Usually, I look at the latest new design magazines. But to fully get an understanding of the designs, seeing it on-air would be way better. Certainly, the next best thing to being there!
I love that title! Branditv, can you recommend any particularly cool hotels? I would love to go to Europe but with the euro these days I'll probably be staying in the US. Still, I love to check out cool locations in different cities. The thing I really need is a cool concierge! LOL! I want to see the really unique places in each city, not just the boring history stuff!!
This note is not a reply to the Extreme Hotels show you have but to a show about architecture that you have in the pilot stage. I am told that the show is looking to host the show with an actor, instead of the Architect. As a licensed Architect, i would personally recommend that you involve the Architect as much as possible. Replacing the Architect with an actor would be a diservice to our profession.
huh? as far as i know, i dont think there is a show about architecture happening. at least i didnt see any pilots on the subject.
my thought was that it would be cool if there WAS one. i do think fine living network is making an architecture show now. you might be confused with that? anyway.. i agree with you. if they ever make the show, it should have a host that is an architect. only makes sense to me. of course, we are both architects! ; )

excellent idea! it would be great to have a fellow architect picking cool sites (not only trendy ones) and talking about them....i agree with jetarchitect....it's hard to keep up with everything and not all cool sites get coverage in the magazines. Plus, we don't all have the time and pocketbook to travel to cool hotels all over the country/world. So....bring it on!!
