What are some of the OFF strip places to eat? I saw a show once on it, but have not seen it in a long time.

Vegas.com has some good listings for these things. I stayed 1 night at Sam's Town. Ate there the night i got in, and the next day. They have a Steak and Egg's special for like $4 that is really good, and a great bargin. The other stuff on their menuis good as well. There are also some good places at the Casinos on Fremont St.

That's a good question. I think a lot of times the perception is that food off the strip means low quality. I would recommend sticking to the upscale hotels off the strip. I have also had some good Sam's Town meals.

The downtown area is less expensive than the Strip. The diner at the Cortez has breakfasts as low as $2. The buffets at Main Street Station & Binion's Horseshoe are great. I enjoyed the atomosphere of the seafood restaurant at Four Queens. The beer booths at Four Queens serve beer in large plastic footballs, which are good souveniers & can be refilled at a discount.

Along with the Samstown comment, they have a really good Seafood Buffet. The last time I was there it was about $18 or $19 per adult, but they had everything from fish and shrimp of all kinds to King Crab Legs, all you can eat of course.

Ok... you've all captured my interest in this SAM'S TOWN joint. I'm in Vegas often "enough" and pretty much stay busy along the strip. I was convinced to continue my ritual upon my return there now that they have the Palazo and PH. Not to mention the other new spots the strip is Showcasing. How do I get to this SAM'S TOWN place please. And do you rec. going for the brkfst or dinner? Oh yeah... I'm trying this NEW thing of not eating beef (ever since I saw the news special about the way they folks were treating those cows). Other than the steak and egg deal, is there much more to offer for brkfst? I will definetly check out the seafood!!! Thanks.

Sams Town has a nice coffee shop. Try the steak and eggs breakfast, they used to have a wonderful huevos rancheros with fresh salsa, but sadly took it off the menu.
All of the Boyd group hotels/casinos have consistently great food and friendly employees, good gambling. They arent always the fanciest, but we have fun and are treated well.
The big strip hotels cater to whales and young people. This is dumb because we boomers have the bucks!-not a kid.
Don't forget to go downtown.
