First off, I just like to say that I cant belive you're sending them to the us and Alaska actually gets it's own stop while California doesnt. Pfft.

Anyway, while in Vegas, they've got to visit the big extravagant hotel casinos like New York, New York and Ceasar's Palace. They should also go check out the old vegas strip and some of the more historical casinos and hotels in the area.

And if the lights and sounds get to be too much, they could always take a trip out into the desert. There's some great photo opprotunities out there.

Vegas is a wild town, and very easy to lose your money, either through gambling or spending (not much mugging, if you take simple precautions). I haven't been there since I was a kid, so there wasn't much for me to do that appealed to me.

If you're looking for cheap entertainment, as I assume these TJs will be on a budget as well, just plain marvelling at the architecture can take a whole day. Then at night, marvelling at the light displays and light shows. You can wander through dozens of casino hotels and window shop and many of them have unique exhibits to show off.

If this is their first stop, way to introduce them to the excess that is America.

When in Las Vegas, if you want to make money on slot machines you have a better chance of winning at the airport machines than in the casinos.

hey everyone this is jaime from singapore, one of the new tjs Smile we'll be off to the states in a couple of weeks. if we hit your city, it'd be great to meet up and get the lowdown on what's really happening in your hometown. be great if you could throw us some extra dollars too hahaha

i've only been to san francisco previously, so it's going to be quite an adventure for me. and for you guys, you may not think it's that "wow" for us to go to the states, but i think it'd also be an eye opener for many americans who may not have travelled much through the country.

i think vegas would be fabulous for real kitsch stuff - the casinos, the marriage chapels, the circus, etc. def looking forward to it. see ya all soon!

Hey Jaime, good to finally hear from one of the new TJs! I live very near San Francisco, but there's no California stop scheduled on your itinerary. Oh well.

Have fun on the trip and tell the rest of the TJs to show up here!

Well Las Vegas, avoid the cheezy pirate show at TI. the volcano show at the Mirage, but to shop M-M's world and Hawaiian Market place. The fountain show at the Bellagio.Of got to visit the Glitter Gluth and it is cheaper to take the duece buses, monorail prety much suck, if yo uare in to Nascar the Sahara, Star Trek the Hilton, also there is a cheezy haunted vegas tour(a bit pricey for what it is) Any Cirque de soliel show by the M7Ms world store there is a half price ticket vendor for almost all the shows in Las Vegas and it is worth the wait. (I try never to pay full price for a show if I don't have to)

I forgot to mention the buffet at the Rio. By the way: Ballys, Harrahs and Ceasers Palace hotels have free shuttles to go to the Rio or Palms Hotels. I love Vegas You all will love it too I've been there at least 5 times

Other stuff to do in vegas: half price tickets for Vegas shows, located by MM's World store. The duece buses are way better than the monorail. Also you can shop for kitch at Hawaiian Market Place, the old Neon graveyard is a cool stop as well as Glitter Gulth Freemont Street experience. And if you want to escape the strip yo ucan do a hoover dam tour with a Lake Mead cruise.
of course the volcano show at the Mirage, a cheezy show go see the Pirate /Siren show at TI.(this show is 20 minutes too long)
Where i ate, was Red Square, Krispy Kremes at Excalibur(I stayed at the Luxor another must see) make sure the red sign is on that tells you they are fresh, if not they aren't.
have fun... ERIS

If any of you are SciFi fans then go to Star Trek: The Experience. It's at the Las Vegas Hilton, a little way off the Strip (walkable). Not cheap though, but you can hang out in Quark's bar and just get a drink.

Another cool place to get a drink is in Bellagio, at the Fontana Bar. They have great live music and then if you walk through, you can watch the fountain show from the balcony.

The one place in Vegas I wished I'd gone - it's probably kitschy - is the Fremont Street Experience.

Well, 50 $ a day won't get you much in Las Vegas. I haven't been there in a while, but here are my tips:

You have to go through casinoes to get anywhere fast enough. Hold your breath... I swear that's where I got the Mumps, but I'm fine now. Skip the Pirate show, not worth it. It's usually delayed and crowded, you gotta go there at least 45 minutes early to get a good spot. Bring a personal camera... There are thousands of good shots over here. Watch the water shows... something great about them during the night, with the music, the sparkling water, I don't know. Just hope it's not too windy when you get there... they cancel it for wind.

Aren't there lions and tigers in Vegas? I'm pretty sure seeing them is free, but they'll sleep alot. Also, don't bother trying to go to the spectacular shows. You gotta buy tickets two months in advance. Also, try not to waste your money on little toys, like some pig you squeeze and you see the waste coming out of it... But they sell pretty nice bells.

I would recommend Nine Fine Irishmen Pub in New York New York, great live Irish music and dancing. If you're interested in looking at a more historical venue, I also suggest visiting the sign 'graveyard', where the giant old lit-up signs from now-gone resorts have gone to rest. And if you get the chance to visit Hoover Dam, do it; it's definitely a sight to see.
