Absolute must stay if visiting Old San Juan. Very Old Carmalite convent lovingly restored. Great on-site restaurants, tapas bars and the best MOJITOS on the island!

I second the original poster's opinion.

My wife and I stayed at El Convento for a few days last summer and the experience was simply exquisite! The building itself will take you back in time with its architecture, while still offering all the goodies of a modern hotel. Right in the middle of Old San Juan, a few minutes walk from the EL Morro fortress and great restaurants and shops.

El Convento is now on my list of "must return" hotels in the world.
