anyone have info on US travel to Tortola?

Sorry my reply is so late! Travel to Tortola is easy from St. Thomas. If you have a passport it's a breeze but they still accept a birth certificate with picture ID. That will change soon, I'm sure.

There are a few cool places to visit and places to stay. I would highly recommend the "Dolphin Discovery" at Prospector Reef. Swimming with the dolphins is really an experience I would recommend.

Myett's in Cane Garden Bay is a very nice place to stay. The rooms are clean and neat, but no TV (which for me is OK). The have a really great restaurant with an open fire BBQ pit. There is also entertainment. The beaches at Cane Garden Bay are spectacular!!

Before you leave Tortola, I would also recommend visiting the Jolly Rogers restaurant (not open in August or September because of hurricane season) on the West End and have some of their Key Lime Pie or the Banana Rum dessert... Yummy!

I've been to Tortola a number of times and find the easiest way is through San Juan via American Airlines. If you go through St. Thomas you have to take the ferry from Red Hook and it gets very crowded with locals esp on the weekends. They do all their shopping on St. Thomas and coming back through customs can take forever.

The best beach on Tortola is Smugglers Cove. It's a bumpy road to get to it but so worth it. Try to get there because sadly soon it will have a resort on it.

Our favorite resort is Long Bay. Our favorite restaurant Palms Delight. It's a small shack but great food. Try the Gingered Chicken.

Al in all it is one of our favorite places to vacation. Long Bay Resorts beach is almost always deserted. A little rocky in spots but beautiful!!!!
