What happened to Natalie Hollaway IS VERY UNFORTUNATE! NOT to make excuses but this could have happened ANYWHERE!! I've been to Aruba 5 times and can't wait to go back. This IS the ONLY island where when I'm walking down the street after dark I'm NOT looking over my shoulder.
Ten yrs. ago my 16 month old son fell off the bed and we thought he fractured his shoulder.(he would not stop screaming) I'm running down the sidewalk to get back to the main lobby and a Native stopped and asked what was wrong and brought me to the Hospital and wanted NOTHING in return but to make sure our Son was safe!!

Agreed.
This was a very tragic situation that seemed to be compounded by legal and governemental involvement. Many groups have been calling for a boycot of American travel to Aruba. In the many times I've been to Aruba, I find the local people very kind and welcoming. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and never felt like I had to look over my shoulder. Lack of tourism dollars would immediately hurt the local people who count on tourism to feed their own kids way before it would make government officials think twice.
