Hi Andy, I admire your play alot. I started playing Holdem about 7 months ago. I play mostly NL multi tourneys (6-8/day) online & need to know if this is a good win ratio.
Consider:
16 tourneys
14 final tables (fini 12 & 13 the other 2)
4 wins
5 fini in the $$$ (top 5)
5 fini-6 thru 9
I know online is different than live, but should I consider a career at this? Thanx.

Sure, that looks like a good record. But from a statistical standpoint, I can't tell you how good it is without knowing more information.

You said you play 6-8 tournaments per day, so the results you reported must be just a small sample of your overall results. You also don't mention how many people entered those tournaments and what the entry fees were, if anything. If there were only 2 or 3 tables in the tournaments and you played hundreds of them, you could easily have a result like this in a series of 16 tournaments amongst all those tournaments without being even an above average player. But if this was a typical 2 days for you, then it's much more likely you are a winning player.

Suppose I was flipping a coin and after about 1000 flips, the coin lands on heads 10 times in a row. Should I stop and consider a career at flipping coins? No. I should expect to see 10 heads in a row almost once every 1000 coin flips. But, suppose out of those 1000 flips, 600 were heads and 400 were tails. That would happen less than once in a billion times in 1000 flips of an unbiased coin. Now that's significant.

If you're serious about going pro, see what I wrote under the "Professional Poker" topic.
