Samantha,

What you need as a break from aggressive cats and greedy landlords is to be taken (you and a guest, if you wish) to dinner at the NYC restaurant of your choice. My wife and I will gladly oblige.

If you are interested, please send an e-mail to cdevany@ppiw.com.

Here's wishing you "friendlier Fluffys" and "likable landlords".

I saw that this forum is going to close at 5 today, so i'll just have to make it short. Where are you going this time? Have you really been in any commercials? I'm just about to mail my letter to you asking for a autographed photograph of you. please tell me when you get it then ok? there's not much new I can tell you about. Did you do anything for Vallentines Day? I did'nt, I do have a girlfriend, but it is kind of a long distance thing, and I think that we are both shy, which does'nt help. Well I wish you a late, Happy Valentine's Day!! and I hope to here from you soon!! Wink

Sam,

You are great. Your wit and character are first class. Your parents did a wonderful job. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Brown!

Instead of the Travel Channel, I think it should be called the Samantha Brown Channel. Just add Lonely Planet and maybe some new Exotic Island episodes- could you host all 3? Big Grin

I don't know what they are paying you, but I'm sure it is not enough. You would definitely give Katie Couric a run for her money. How about the Early Show on CBS? Are you a morning person?

Keep up the great work! You can rollerblade on my marble floors anytime.(Seabrook Is. GVH)

keep smiling,

Robb

P.S. What ever happened to your slinky/eyeball glasses? Were they prescription? Cool

I watch Great Hotels all the time and absolutely love it. I was wondering if you have ever been to Bald Head Island in North Carolina? It is about an hour south of Wilmington and only accessible by a ferry. It is such a beautiful place to go and relax...no cars on the island ~ you drive a golf cart everywhere...a great golf course, wonderful dining at the club or the River Pilot Cafe for something more casual...no motels or tacky stores...just beauty, peace and incredible beaches. There are not hotels on the island ~ mostly homes ~ although there are two bed and breakfast places that are incredible.

Any chance you and your show might check this out?

On another note...any other Disney Hotels in the works?

Have a great night!

This site is very cool. I am a fan of your show and really enjoy just sitting back, watching Smile and "fantasizing" about being there with you. What a great job you have... thanks for bringing it to life, I just love when you point out all the little things and the small beauty of where you are at. I do appreciate that, people often wonder when I am just staring at a great ceiling or just sitting back and admiring all the little things that go on....
This is my first time on this site and I have to say, seeing that you actually take the time to respond is just wonderful.
I certainly am glad to hear you will be back, I look forward to watching some new episodes. Just do be careful out there!
If you ever find yourself out in the Pacific NW and would like to see life in rural america, then look me up.

Am I the same as on TV

andrewp121,

Actually I'm a big jerk. I'm kidding. I'm very much the same although I will say I don't talk as much when I'm off camera. If you leave your email address on this forum I'll do the rest. Your girlfriend sounds like she has a better job than me. I didn't think that was possible.

Hi Samantha,

I'm a big fan. I watch Great Hotels and Great Vacation Homes whenever I can, even the reruns. Great shows. I love your sense of humor. I live in Asheville, North Carolina. There are two hotels here you really must visit. The Grove Park Inn Resort and the Inn on Biltmore Estate. The Grove Park Inn Resort has a brand new 40,000 square ft spa. It's is said to be the greatest spa in all of North America(so THEY say). Both hotels are fantastic and the Grove Park Inn is said to be haunted.

Hello Ms. Samantha Brown,
Just wanted to say thanks for the good energy and entertaining show. I really feel like I've traveled the world after watching Great Hotels.
Right now I'm blanketed by snow in Lincoln, Nebraska recording a new album with my band Schatzi. Now after introducing "Great Hotels" to my bandmates, I've got to convince them that we need to title one of the songs on this album: "Samantha Brown saved me from the snow," or "oh...to travel with Samantha Brown." We'll see what happens, but hopefully it will happen. Anyway, the album should come out this summer on Mammoth/Hollywood Records as that is our label.
Keep up the great work. I know it's rather silly, but if you or someone was/is able to mail a photo to me, that would make my day.

raseyu,

the same thing happened to my car. It was summer and I had left the windows rolled down-someone egged it. For months my car smelled of scrambled eggs. I hope this week things get a little better for you.

txwolfer,

my fella and I have a time share at The Canyons in Park City Utah. We love it. A lot of time shares will of course rent out their properties as if they were hotels yet the customer doesn't have to "own" it. We've showed only one on Great Hotels in The Wilderness Lodge at Disney. I believe they call their time shares the Vacation Club.

kliney,

I'm not going anywhere it's just easier for me if we only do the forums once a month. Than during that time I can really focus on reading and answering posts. My Valentines Day was lovely. did you get my valentines greeting that i had written in one of the early posts? I think it's on page 5. A long distance relationship huh? How do you manage it? talk to you in March.

Hey Jack,
Travel Channel was supposed to shut this off Friday night but lo and behold it's still going. I'm sure they will turn it off tomorrow (unless no one makes it in from the Storm) I don't know where you live but we're supposed to be getting up to a foot and 1/2 of snow. Big Grin I still get so excited when it snows. And I'm about to make homemade marshmallows for my hot chocolate tomorrow. It's going to be the best Presidents Day Ever.

robb_lawson,

I told my parents what you wrote and they say thank-you. Big Grin The major difference between myself and Katie Couric is that she is a well deserved respected journalist-I'm an actress who lucked into an amazing job. Have you ever noticed my interview skills on any of the three shows I host? I'm terrible Frown But I very much appreciate your wonderful comments.

P.S. I traded in the slinky eyeball glasses for a clown nose that honks.

jennkd,

geez, i don't know. I think we've done all the big ones. Oh, i forgot, next year we will probably be shooting a Christmas at Disney special featuring all the magical things they do for the holiday season. The Island you talk about sounds beautiful especially the no cars thing. Ever hear of Macinaw Island in Michigan? sounds simular.

Fred,

It is the little things that count don't you think. When we were staying at The Inn at Little Washington It was a place of such incredible detail that even the ringer on the phone was soft and bell like. I've stayed in so many exquisite rooms that put you in a peaceful mood but then BRRRRRRRRRIIIIIING! the phone ring is so obnoxious it completely frays your nerves. What do you mean by governed by it's original charter?

Hey Cassie,

Your mom tells me that you watch my show all the time.-and you're only eight years old! What's your favorite hotel so far? I bet you'll like The Grand Wailea in Maui. I believe it will be on t.v. sometime in March. Anyway, it has the most incredible pool! actually there are nine of them. There's a massive waterslide, a rope swing, a rambling river and get this...a water elevator! Only one like it in the world. I'll be back on the live forum March 17th. please come back and say hi Big Grin

Mark,

what's a texas boy doing in Lincoln Nebraska? As I am writing this NY is being pummeled by snow. We are expected to get 15" The great thing about snow storms in NYC is that nothing stops-as long as the trains keep running and Ming Dynasty Chinese Food still delivers I'm fine golden. I really think you have to lean on your band members to do that song. Have you ever heard the song by Bob Dylan on his last album where the lyrics go "Samantha Brown lived in my house for six months and I never slept with her once."

Well it's not me.

Or how about the Olivia Newton John song "I need you Sam, sam, you know where I am"

Well that song is not about me either.

So I definately need a song written about me.

nice talking to you Wink

Sam,

I am pretty calm, always been my nature thankfully. I also love the editing process(of course others are doing it to, not everythings on me) and so it doesn't stress me out. We just had a screening at a local movie theatre of one of our shorts, and it turned out great, and I also got to be part of a media producers meeting at Will Vinton Studios, which was a treat.

Just had some great Pinots from the Oak Knoll winery, good stuff. Gotta go now, talk to you again,

Hope you're enjoying the snow. Down here in the South, the weather's pretty freaky. One day it's cold, then the rain comes and we have a little warm spell, then it rains and then it gets cold all over again. Right now there's 'liquid snow' falling outside my window.
Did you know Circus Peanuts are made from marshmallows? Maybe you could put those in your cocoa. Take care and I'll talk to ya later. Happy Presidents' Day!
Love,
Jack
p.s. In the meadow I will build a snow(wo)man
And pretend that she's Samantha Brown,
I'll ask her "Are you married?"
She'll say "No, man!"
So you can come see me when I'm in town." Big Grin

Meg loved your message to her. Thank you.

We watched a repeat (Hershey) right after she read the message and she said "Maybe now when Samantha Brown says 'come on' she'll say "Come on, Meg!'"

Smile

She also apparently picked up on a "Samantha Brown" facial expression you sported after eating chocolate on that show, which we were treated to several times when her valentines candy was being eaten.

Enjoy your Holiday.

Hey I think that you should do a show about a hotel called, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. It is a small, yet very nice hotel to stay at. It is located right on Ka'anapali Beach which is great beach for a family. The hotel has many activities such as scuba diving and is only a few miles away from Lahaina. I am getting ready to go back to the hotel in 2 and a half weeks and i can't wait. Well this is just a suggestion but it is worth it. cya.

Sam, I just watched your show on Chicago. You were at Wrigley Field and I almost died laughing as you poured...no dumped a mountain of onions onto your hotdog! I loved how you paused for a second and gave that, "aw, what the heck" look and proceeded to finish off the dispenser! You might as well, Lord knows they charged you enough for a hotdog there! It's nice to see someone else who has no shame in indulging in onions, even in public. Take care and I look forward to receiving a signed photo. THANKS again for doing a little "overtime" on this forum, I look forward to your return in March!!

Sincerely,
Paul Snyder

Sam,

Did you know there is a new version of Cinema Paradiso that was released last year(briefly) that is longer and has a different ending. It's not necessarily better, just different. There was no need to really mess with it, it's so perfect as it is(like the original Star Wars trilogy was, before it was hampered by the so-called Enhanced or Special Edition) I think I've seen it available on video at well-stocked video stores.

You are the most adorable lady! I *heart* you!
Love watching all your shows because you seem to be enjoying yourself so much and you're funny!
I was just wondering if you have ever been on a cruise or if Great Hotels was going to do something on cruises, because they are a floating hotel/city.
I enjoy watching all the shows you've been on. Keep up the good work!

Samantha,

My husband and I are hoping to get away in April but only have about 5 days. Do you have any suggestions for warm places (Florida, islands, etc.)? If so, could you tell us what moderately priced hotels that would coincide?!

Thanks a lot, we appreciate it!!!

Hi Sam!
I was looking forward to thank you so much for your suggestion regarding 'Flo's'. You were right! the were some of the best I've had in some time! As it turns out, my best friends who moved to maine live just a mile or so from Flo's.
I discovered one of your devoted fans this week, he is 9 years old and very bright. When I asked him what he liked to watch on television, he replied: 'The Travel Channel', when I asked what in particular he liked about it, he replied: Samantha Brown!
I told him I would let you know that.
With all this crazy weather in the Northeast, you are probably wishing you were in Bermuda or someplace warm. Are there plans for a 'piece' on Bermuda? If you had already aired one, I'm sorry I missed it.
I thoroughly enjoyed your shows in Hawaii..keep em comin!

Samantha,
Waitsburg is still governed by its original territoral charter from the 1800's. Which in essence means our city goverment still operates the same as when the city first came into operation. We still hold annual elections for our city council and Mayor, nominated by a caucas then a general election. This also gives us certain priveledges as the city is concerned, but we still are subject to state and local mandates.
I do have to say, when I was young boy in the 70's we could still bet at the local horse races. As long as we could hold our fingers up high enough for the booth operator to see em'. They then changed the "law", they had to be able to see who was placing the bets! Now we follow state guidelines and you have to be 18. But, growing up it was pretty fun Big Grin.
I must have missed that episode on Little Washington... perhaps on a rerun sometime.
Thank you for writing back, I really do appreciate it. It is so nice to actually get to chat with a television personality you admire! This is just making my day.
By the way, are you married?? Wink
Thanks, if you have any other questions just fire away.

I really love that your growing out your hair...LOOKS GRRRREAT. As a low end traveler it would be nice to see shows for those of us on a tight budget. Though I enjoy see how others live and travel I think many are in the same boat as I. I feel travel is something important to expose my children to but having a limited budget we often we have to camp just to afford to do things when we reach our destination. A show highlighting free or unexpensive activities would help me a lot. Thanks for your great work, keep it up and take care... can't beleive you get paid to do this..lol
