Hi Sam, yep, I'm a Chiropractor in west central Michigan. Ok, I'll trade free advice for an autographed picture. I'll hang it in my waiting room. My office staff tease me about watching your show all the time. Won't they be jealous.

Hi Sam

Just wanted to say thanks for taking time out to chat with us all and for sending me a picture -- it has already been framed and hung in a place of honor on the wall.

My only question is that I hope you'll let us know about performance dates for Mouth. I read your earlier post on the subject and understand your reservations, but I'd still really like to see you "outside" of your Travel Channel persona. I have a few friends in NYC that don't watch you (I know, they're deprived), but love the comedy of SNL and were excited about Mouth. I hope you'll reconsider and at least post some venue or ticket information. Feel free to email me directly if you don't want to post -- I might need a bit more time than your next scheduled forum to make travel plans to NYC from snowy Rochester. Roll Eyes Mkline1162@aol.com

Have fun over the next month - we'll be thinking of you.

Samantha,
I am SO happy to hear that you love Circus Peanuts! I love them too and I always tell people that i know they probably think they are nasty! I chuckled to myself when I read that because i only have one other friend that likes them too. Most people think they're gross! See, I always tell my husband when we watch your shows that you and I would be great friends....and this whole circus peanut connection should just seal that deal, don't you think? Ha, ha!! I hate to see that this forum will close today, but it's been fun and I guess we'll hear from you again in March!

Hey Sam

I read that you are moving to Detroit (part time). I'll give you and A+ for courage. I was born and raised (and currently reside) in the Detroit area but only venture into the city for dinner occasionally. The city has improved and people are trying to rejuvenate many of the old historic buildings (most of them still sit vacant and crumbling). It's slightly depressing whenever I drive through. It'll be decades before Detroit even comes close to a Chicago standard.

You sound like you're a food fan much like my wife and I. Let me know if you want any restaurant tips while you're in town.

Hi Samantha

Your comment about flashing by the pool reminded me of 8 army buddies doing "Moon over Colorado" on top of Pikes Peak. Some old ladies thought it was cool so had them do it again so they could get pics.
Thanks again for having this forum. I hope you have a great Valentines day. I look forward to the new shows. It will be cool to see how you will look with the long hair, but I will second sb4life in that I love it short.

Hi Samantha,

Just wanted to say hi, and wish you a happy Valentine's Day, and to say all of us at Arthouse Productions are all in the midst of editing different films of ours, and when we're all done in the coming weeks, I'll send you a tape/DVD of all our films, plus a couple scripts for upcoming films, and maybe a bottle of hard-to-find-outside-Oregon Pinot Noir. Loved you prime time shows, keep up the good work, and I'll talk to you later,

Sam, on behalf of all your fans, I would like to thank you for taking the time out to come on here and chat with all of us.
I'm also delighted to see that I'm not the only one that's aggravated with the Travel Channel for their programming. Maybe we should all send them a note letting them know how we feel.
Anyway, hope you have a very happy valentines day. Smile

Hello again (and I guess goodbye till march)

I know a thing or two about tempers. First, there is the red hair...second, I am very, very, very, very, very, very Irish. So I'm pretty much screwed in the temper department. Although most would tell you that I am pretty laid-back and remarkably calm in my job. (I have to be, it's bad to throw sterile surgical equipment). I have a point which is hard to reach but when you do...watch out!!

In answer to your questions...I live outside of Chicago (the best city in the US!!) and we are most definately in the deep freeze. I like winter! I grew up on the coast of California and we did not have winters. (Why am I in the midwest now, you ask?...long long story!) If it is going to be this @@#$% cold, WHY CAN'T WE HAVE SNOW!!! Then it would at least be pretty.

My day did inprove yesterday. First, your picture, then Duke lost Smile and to anybody outside the ACC, that is always a good thing!!!! I am a huge college basketball fan!

I'm taking my mom to Disneyworld for her first time in 22 days. She is so excited. She just cant believe that we want her to go on vacation with us. Any hints to make it that much more special?

Have a good month...where ever you are going to be. We'll see ya in March!

Hi Samantha;

It is always a pleasure to be able to communicate with you. My fiance and I love to watch all of your shows. We have stayed at many of the hotels and resorts your shows have covered over the past year, especially the ones in San Francisco, and we always agree with your recommendations. We are still hoping to hear of you coming to Seattle,Wa. for a taping or two.
Thanks for the tips!!! Smile

Aloha! Cool

I just wanted to thank you for everything: from your shows that make Hawai'i look so good (I even find myself driving to the places on your shows!!!), to all the great hotels all over the U.S. You make a local boy in the middle of the sea want to go to the mainland everyday!

I recently got into a car accident that keeps me at home most of the day, but I can honestly say that the one good thing about it is that I get to see all your shows. Thanks again for promoting Hawai`i and making me smile!

Please send me an autograph pic:

Dear Samantha,
I have noticed how much you love food. If you ever make your way through Memphis, you must try our pork BBQ. It is wonderful! Every year in May, we have the Memphis in May International Barbeque Cooking Contest. It is the largest of its kind in the world. The last few years, the Today Show has broadcast live from the riverfront where it is held. It draws almost 200,000 people in the three day event. The Travel Channel should send you there to host a special on the event!

If Great Hotels ever plays out, you might want to pitch the idea of "Great Restaurants". I bet you would love that job! Are you working on your tan for the Caribbean yet?

ffgak,

I'm sorry you are absolutely right. Her Royal Highness Fiona completely agrees as well. She's sleeping right now, it's part of her 15hrs mandatory rest decreed by the King. KittyKind sounds very simular. We rescue and adopt out through a screening process as well and we are a no-kill as well. I can't believe there is more snow on the way.

mrsharke,

OF COURSE I LISTEN TO BARRY MANILOW! I just bought my producer Barry Manilow sox because he's a fan too. My music tastes venture far beyond that though. Here's some of what I'm listening to now: Nora Jones, Zero 7, Morcheeba, Verve remixed (fabulous remixed versions of Verve classics) I hope this list redeems me in your eyes.

beetlebailey,

John you got it. I was once picked on a lot by someone at the ice cream parlor I worked at when I was sixteen. I got back at him by smearing peanut butter and hot fudge all under the inside of his car's stearing wheel.. and radio knobs ...and gear shift. I left a note that read -i hope the night's not to hot and sticky for ya.

jhenrysmom,

Well that settles it doesn't it? We are destined to become old friends. I wonder where they make circus peanuts or if the packages we see on the shelves are from a batch made in the 70's. They never go stale and if they do you really couldn't tell the difference. They'd make a great war ration-spam and circus peanuts now THATS a meal. talk to you in March.

Sam,
My 5 year old daughter and I enjoy watching your show together. We started with the Disney Hotels, and then she got hooked on the rest. We've been catching up on reruns ("Daddy, can we watch Samantha Brown?").

Comments from Meg:
"Oh, Sam's going to like this room."
"Why does she like bathrooms so much?"
"Remember when she fooled the hotel? She really doesn't have a husband."

She'd love it if you said hello.

Thanks.

mi_dude,

When we were driving around downtown we were both amazed at how beautiful those old homes were and how incredible they must have been in their day. Downtown Detroit still has a long way to go but we're city people and see beauty in very different ways. Where can we go to hear some motor city music?

arthousebill,

you sound so calm to be in the midst of editing. It's amazing we finished shooting GH 2 one day before Thanksgiving and we are still editing and going into the studio to do V.O work. It's such a long process I had my picture mounted on a corkboard and sent it with darts to the editors so that they could vent.

after I wrote that I remembered you were from Chicago because you had gone to the Palmer House Hilton. Chicago is a fabulous city I've done the river tour three times and never get sick of it. Being from NYC I almost died when a cabbie gave ME the right of way. My best advice for Disney especially if you are staying on property is to get there as soon as the gates open then go back to your hotel for lunch, a swim, a nap then head back and stay til the park closes around 9pm. My sister and her family did this and it kept them from strangling each other. A fun fact is that the most ill-tempered people I have come accross on my job are Disney World Tourists. I think it's because1.expectations are very high 2. it's really expensive so that causes tension 3. kid's get tired and so do the parents. so try to relax.

Nora Jones - interesting I believe she's the daughter of Ravi Shankar - seriously.
Actually Barry Manilow wrote music to a set of Johnny Mercer lyrics called When October Goes - a great piece
I am a musician but I try not to be a snob - aahh maybe somtimes I am.

Happy Valentines Day

bryan1967,

I love food. and I love BBQ when we were in the south filming Great Vacation Homes I would get the homeowners to make me BBQ with this little act;

What kind of BBQ is (insert state here)BBQ?
the owner would then say "WHAT! YOU HAVE NEVER HAD (insert state here) BBQ?

then they'd make me some. It was deceiving but I"ll do anything for good food.

Hi Samantha,

Thanks so much for the Valentine message you sent along! I'll be sure to send it along to all my friends before the night is over.
Eek

Do you get to visit New Hampshire at all? We're really in a deep freeze right now. It was -10 when I got up this a.m. I'm suppose to go to a UNH hockey game tonight, but it's sooo cold!

Have you ever done any shows on cruise ships? My husband and I are sailing out of Boston to Bermuda this June for our anniversary. Can't wait.

Take care.

Hi Sam, Please check out my photography web site if you have time. Someone wrote in the forum about a Hotel in Walla Walla, Washington. The one I told you about in Baker City, Oregon (The Geiser Grand) is only about one hundred thirty miles away. The Geiser Grand is a small town hotel with only thirty rooms but it is a very beautiful 1889 gold rush biulding (with a clock tower) that has been restored. I could email you some pictures of it if you would like. www.oregontrail.net/~roger/

It was good to hear from you aqain. My wife and I really enjoy your shows, especally great hotels. If the travel channel wants better ratings, they should put you on prime time more often. We watched your specials both days and loved them. You helped cheer us up Sunday Feb 2 after a day and a half of the terrible Columbia disaster. We were both very down (as was the whole country) and watching your shows really helped us. Thanks. You have a good trip, and be safe. Please send a photo if you can my email is Trek325@aol.com. Thanks again.

Thank you Samantha for taking the time to talk with us! I have enjoyed chatting with you. Thank you also for checking out my photo website! I'm glad you liked it. I can't help but love the raptors, especially the orphans that we get in every Spring. I am putting together a collection of the "baby" shots. I don't use a lot of filters. Usually a polarizer or UV. I use a graduated netural density one for landscapes. A lot of my mountain shots were taken in the Smoky Mountains but some were taken in Canada (Jasper area) and some in Yosemite. I usually visit the SMokies every year since they are close to NC. I once saw 16 black bear in one day. It was amazing! The wild cherry trees were full of ripe cherries and the bears were taking full advantage! I will be tuning in to watch your shows as always. I always get great ideas of places to visit from your shows!

Do you have a website for your photos? I would love to see them. By the way, I am addicted to circus peanuts! Eek
Take Care,

I enjoyed your visit to the Lodge of Vail. And, it was nice to see Vail's face when the calendar's pages drift into june, An off season visit, I thought it was a nice touch.

In particular, I was fascinated by the downhill buggy thing you were racing along in, And, I love the blue jeans, nice.

Oh, I hope you're well on your way to recovering from the encounter with that strange cat. And, I believe you had a birthday recently, last month. If you did, I want to wish you a belated happy birthday. Oh, I hope you enjoy Valentines day.

Well, you take it easy out there. And, I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful shows, thanks.

Hey Sam

Next time you're in the city you need to find a publication called 'Metro Times'. It's a weekly that lists all the cool happenin's in and around the city from food to music. Their web site is also very helpful - http://www.metrotimes.com/. You might find a jazz club close to your place.

Another popular destination just outside the city is Royal Oak. Many great restaurants and clubs (the Mongolian BBQ is a unique restaurant you've probably never seen before).

There's also Greektown and Mexican Village within the city that are also worth noting.

Have you been to any interesting here yet?

Hey Meg!

This is Samantha and you watch me stay in really pretty hotels. I hear you wanted to know why I get so excited about bathrooms. Well, my own bathroom is pretty small. No counter space for my stuff (it always falls off the counter right into the toilet-YUCK!) and my bathtub is small. So when I see a beautiful bathroom I get very happy. I think you are pretty smart for getting my joke about having a husband. Have a good Saturday!

Tomorrow I'll be Viffel again...yup, that big, red heart costume is coming out of storage once again for an appearance at the Richmond Children's Museum. "Viffel" for those who don't know is the heart from the "Virginia is for Lovers" logo and we've turned it into a theme-park type character. Virginia Tourism is celebrating literacy and showing off the winners of our "Lovers of Literacy" children's art and writing contests. I, of course, will get to shake hands with everyone! I know it's late but if anyone is in Richmond, VA Saturday morning between 10:30 and Noon then we'd love to see ya'! Don't know why I didn't post this earlier.

Virginia is truly for lovers...of snow! We could have up to eight more inches coming Sunday. Did you know that our ski slopes have more natural snow on them than Colorado's? ...and that's not even a commercial. I'm really looking forward to spring now.

Time to hit the sack. Being a big, walking heart character can be tiring so I gotta rest up. I'm sure Sam knows exactly what I'm talking about. Wink

Yes Sam its supposed to start snowing tonight(or sleet the weather people can't make up there minds) and continue thru sunday. "They" say we could get a foot or more here in Roanoke,I'll believe it when I see it, fortunately I'm on break from the Fire station till Monday.Brush fire season offically starts today but if the weather patterns hold we'll be getting more rain/sleet/snow by next weekend and I won't have to worry about them. Queen Misty has given me my daily dose of sassy mouth and is as I write stuffing her face at the food bowl. She'll probaly got back up stairs for more beauty sleep. She is 15 now and shows no sign of getting old, shoot she sleeps ALL the time so who could tell.
