Thanks for answering my post. That is amazing you got a picture in Time Magazine. I feel bad about asking you for an autograph picture because I am sure it takes a lot of your time. Can I have an autograph picture? Roger roger@oregontrail.net

Hi Sam, hope you're keeping warm. A follow-up from a few weeks ago, my wife indeed did get in contact with her high school friend who appeared on the Chicago Palmer House Hilton show, and they're talking about getting together sometime this summer, probably at their high school reunion. So according to her, you only give them two takes to get it right, eh? Personal note, I was home sick this past Friday, and it was certainly nice to have your Hawaii shows running the whole afternoon into the evening. Great comfort programming, better than the cartoons I usually go with when I'm not feeling well.

Samantha I had never heard of the Marginal way trail. I had to look it up to see what it was. It sounds like a beautiful walk. Hiking is a favorite pastime for me. There are some super trails all over New England. Stuck here in the flat lands I miss the mountains. My kids loved climbing on the rocks almost as much as catching frogs at my aunts house.

Hi Sam! I'm so glad to know that your boyfriend was your dinner guest in the Plaza episode. That is so funny because I always wonder if the people that sometimes join you at dinner are really people that you know, or if they are set up there by the Travel Channel. Glad to know that you do get to include him in things like that! At least it's a free meal, huh? I guess it might just begin to make up for all the distance that you two probably have to deal with for most of the year. My husband and I dealt with that before we were married (he traveled a ton), and it can be pretty stressful! Talk to you later!

Girl, if it was men that can dance you were looking for I would have instructed you to go to 'Wild Things'. The best male dance revue/strip club by far! WHOA! I used to live down the street from The Far West Rodeo. Did you brave the mechanical bull? Just one more question, how do you stay in such great shape? I would have gained 20 lbs by now for sure eating all that great food! (and had a field day with "The Kitchen Sink" at WDW)

Take a break from the blahs and go back to Hawaii. There's still a lot more to see and do there....
Seriously, just saw a few hours' worth of your Hawaii programs the other day. I'm from Hawaii (though now living in Boston) and was very impressed by the wonderful quality of your shows there. Makes me want to go back right now! But also impressive was your attention to and respect for the local cultures. That really is something special, and many thanks to you for being sensitive to that. Aloha!

Ztatart78, I'm sure Samantha would not want to leave out the hard working guys on her crew. They would have to go to PT's. They have both there, or so I heard.

Sam, I just wanted to express my enthusiasm for you and your show. I try not to miss it, but sometimes I like to pretend I have responsibilities. Your personality is so engaging, it really makes the shows you do special. Anyone can film some hotel rooms and narrate, but the way you do it is what keeps drawing people back. Just look at how many messages have been posted here in a matter of only days! And that doesn't even give an accurate indication of those who feel the same way but for whatever reason just haven't registered or posted here.
I really think it is great that you can talk openly on TV about your fear of being underwater. I wondered, though, if you ever did a "Great Cruise Ships" show, and if not, whether the underwater thing had anything to do with that. I am trying to plan my honeymoon, and my fiancee and I have decided to take a Hawaiian cruise, and stay a few days either on Maui or in Honolulu. I was wondering which cruises you would recommend, and which hotels. I taped most of the "Day in Hawaii" last week, so I will go over that also.
Thanks for everything that you do. Keep up the great work!!

ahh so you like the coolash thing? As you can see my e-mail address has to be written with three o's instead of two because someone has it already So if by any chance you wrote to coolash@optonline.net for my home address for that autograph... someone else is chatting with you. Anyways, I have to go exercise now (almost bathing suit time!) Take care of yourself, as well as your boyfriend. I hope things are going well for you two! Love, Ashley cooolash@optonline.net

Hello Samantha,
We really enjoy "Great Hotels" and also loved the recent "Girl Meets Hawaii" marathon. We tape "Great Hotels" every day and watch it after work!
As a New Hampshire denizen who likes to take long weekends from time to time it'd be great to see some shows set in the Great Northeast. Are there any plans to visit properties in New England? We especially love Maine and Boston!
There's a great B&B in Newcastle, Maine called (appropriately enough) the Newcastle Inn. We stayed there for New Year's Eve and it was wonderful! Beautful decor, great service, a fantastic restaurant.
Looking forward to more wonderful shows. P.S. I was pleased to read that you and your crew do actually stay at these hotels. I had visions of everyone checking into the Motel 6 on the outskirts of town after filming was completed

Hey Samantha, my hubbie and I love to watch your shows. WE love to travel and every Sunday we curl up to watch the Travel Channel and most especially Sam! Our favorite place is Hawaii so we really enjoy watching "Girl Meets Hawaii". Kona Village is one of our favorite places on earth! We are planning to go back next year. We visited the Awahanee in Yosemite last year and are planning a stay at Jenny Lake Lodge and the Wort Hotel in Wyoming this year. Have you ever been to either one of those places? We are on the East Coast in NC so we visit Charleston and the Smoky Mountains quite often. If you ever need some tips on places to stay or more important, places to eat around here, let me know! Thanks for bringing a little sunshine into our lives!

Davros72,
I loved the Two Towers! When Lord of the Rings came out last year I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Ian Mckellon who then invited me to his private party before the first showing in NYC. He is such a gentleman-he's just like Gandalf. My Theory is that the Academy is waiting for all three to come out so that they can award him for the last one and therefore in a sense the entire trilogy. I've never stayed in a castle

jennymomabcd,
sorry about that. pressed a button prematurely let me start again. We just might know each other. I most certainly worked at Canobie Lake Amusement pare 85-87 it was my first job. I worked the Bowlerama game as well as being the information girl at the front gate. I told thousands of people where the nearest bathroom was. I did not know Nicole though, she was already in London while I entered S.U as a freshman. Have a fantastic time at Disney. My tip for the Kitchen Sink is to not quite put everything in it. It was sickingly sweet and coming from me that says a lot.
What did you do at Canobie?

I worked in the food stands. I spent most of the time working at the Portofino restaurant right by the lake, but worked in all the other stands also. That was a fun place for a teen to work. I'm sure we saw each other around. I was the girl with the big hair.. Wait we all had big hair back then. We probably did cross each others path and that's why you look familiar to me. I ended up joining the Marines and now live in San Diego with a pack of kids. I haven't seen NH since 1989.

reechiebacker,
I'm glad I could bring two friends together. I remember her at the Palmer House-she was a little nervous and didn't think she should go on camera. We thought she was beautiful and the first time she did it she was perfect. We only did a second take for safety.

ah the big hair, I can almost smell the perm solution now. We must have met while you were working at the Portofino. I had a huge crush on a guy name Chris (brown curly hair, liquid brown eyes) He worked there so I would always go to the Portofino to get a slice of cardboard, tasteless pizza. remember there was always that problem with the whip cream cans being flat because the food service crew would do whip-it's?

Thank you for your very kind words. I was just exagerating when I said the cat ate my hand. I take care of about 30 of them and only a few ever bite and when they do it's because they are incredibly scared. What's so rewarding is to see them finally feel safe and loved for the first time. I could never be a hand model though.

Chris was the Boss sort of. He was in charge with another guy named Mark. I worked the front counter and probably snuck you some free food. I was always sneaking the red shirts free food. Chris was cute, but If I remember right he could be quite a jerk.

ztatart78,
woohoooo! unfortunately I missed Wild Things. And I don't think Travel Channel would have considered it as part of an episode-although then I might have had a hunk join me for dinner for a change instead of eating solo. I did go on the Mechanical bull. And did pretty good. In the La Mansion episode (hasn't aired yet) they speed it up in post so it looks like I'm going really fast-although it really doesn't. It's funny you should asK how I keep in shape because as I'm writing this I'm not feeling so hot because I ate too much ice cream. I guess that's my secret I eat what I want but boy do I have to workout ALOT.

the culture of the Hawaiian people is something that's just not promoted enough and I was certainly lucky to be able to spend so much time there (8 months approximately) and experience it on a deeper level. Boston is sure a long way from the 50th state. brrrrrrr.

I can't believe you remembered him! We actually went on one date but while we were at an intersection waiting for the light to change, this man plowed into the back of his car. We got all the insurance info and bless his heart he still wanted to go on the date. But at dinner he was very distracted and upset and the date didn't go so well. No more free pizza.

bigfatben, my gosh what a wonderful email to read. Thank-you so much for that. It's so rewarding to see all the new posts when I come on. When I sense that it's going to my head I read a couple of the posts from "excruciatingly painful to watch" just so I remain down to earth. I tried scuba this October and really was surprised on how much i liked it. So I think snorkeling is still scary (for some strange reason) But I think it's the slow breathing of scuba that automatically relaxes you. I'm sorry to say that I don't know anything about Hawaiian cruises . I know lots about the islands themselves so when you know where your going I'll give you some of my favorite tips. take care and thanks again.

You should come watch Anyways, hes testing March 15th so I know you are bombarded with autograph signings now so whenever you get to it, just send an e-mail to ... well you know the e-mail by now haha. Take care! P.S. That guy Chris must have been quiet a catch for both of you to have fallen for him

biguglydude,
as a fellow New Hampshirite (Portsmouth) I have always pressed for N.E. Maybe this year. Is New Castle Maine on the Coast. Did you know that they save the Wentworth By the Sea in New Castle NH. I lived there for a few years, it's a lovely Island right off of Portsmouth. When we shot Great Vacation Homes our accommodations were very questionable, sometimes scary. I've paid my dues.

Can I ask if you write everything yourself? - your descriptions etc... How much is adlibbed or spontaneous? Your girlfriend Kathy

kthynoll,
thank you for your wonderful comments. I write about 90% of it but "write" is such a loose term. The Producers provide me with bullet points that they and the Travel Channel have all agreed I should make and then I sort of just improv on the info given to me so that it is entertaining rather than a lecture. The rest is written by the producers during post production for things that we missed the first time.

I can't believe I am corresponding with THE Samantha Brown!
Anyway, it's OK that you can't recommend any cruise ships. My fiancee and I have already narrowed that search down pretty well. However, the cruise will either begin or end in Honolulu, and will probably go for 9 or 10 days, so we planned on spending an extra 5 or so days in Hawaii. I was looking at the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui, but it is really expensive. I also was looking at some of the hotels and villas you showed on Oahu in the "Girl Meets Hawaii" shows.
Anyway, perhaps you could email me and I could be more specific as to our plans and what exactly we are looking for. My email is big_fat_ben@hotmail.com. Please respond at your leisure; the honeymoon is a long way off (about 18 months). Thanks for your help.
Also, I just looked at the "excruciatingly painful to watch" forum and I can't believe the people on there! I wonder if they are watching the same show I am? It just doesn't seem possible. You are great and we all appreciate it (by "we all" I mean normal people)! Thanks again.
