Hi Samantha

This forum is relly cool. Thanks for having it. I lived outside Portland Maine before moving to Vermont in high school. My mom still lives there in Maine. Portland Head Light was and is a favorite spot for us to go for picnics. Italian sandwiches by the ocean are the best.
I had the oportunity to take my kids there for the first time this summer. We all had a great time climbing and exploring on the rocks below the light house. My 14 year old daughter managed to fall in. She now really knows what "Cold water" is.
I hope you hand is better today.

heatemefrisbee,

It's funny you should mention Detroit. My boyfriend is moving there for a job so I'll be splitting my time between NYC, about 65 hotels and Detroit. We are actually planning on living in the city in one of the new converted loft spaces which are incredible. Anyway, any tips on where to eat and where to hear some Music?

I like your login name.

There is a certain kind of cat that we resverve the name Church for - usually with ears pinned back, fully loaded front paws (with claws) and actually spitting. Once I had a very special Church lunge at me. He actually walked (ran) across the room on his two back legs so that his paws were poised to fight! (oh the flashbacks!)

I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. They usually don't feel well, since their coming to see me. And I do TRY to reserve some of my better ##@@%%!! till I leave the exam room! (but some of them really catch me off guard!) (and the cats are WAY worse then the dogs!)

Got a little teary watching the latest rerun of Mohonk Mountain House after reading that you were there during 9/11. It still hits hard...

Well, gotta go, you just came on TV (thats a little surreal!) and your actually at the Breakers in Florida right now, not in New York!!!

SB4life (i like it, i like it)

I live in NYC so I take the good Ol subway. But if I could have a car and money wasn't an issue (it never is in my TV life) then I really like a BMW X5 silver with black leather interior. I also love the smartcar-have you ever seen one. Their coming to the states this year and they were built to be so compact that you could park it in a parallel space yet perpendicularly! It's just the cutest thing.

I love your show, and I think you do a great job! Wathing it just now...

Do you actually get to stay overnight in the hotels you present??

kelvdm,

I forget-are you a vetrinarian? It's funny after 3 years of helping with the cats I think the skin on my hand is getting tougher and I just don't feel the bites and scratches anymore. ahhhhhh, The Breakers. That drive up scene as simple as it is took 5 hours to shoot. And the car kept stalling the fumes were overwhelming AND THEN i was pulled over by the cops because it didn't have any liscence plates. I was so bummed I didn't have my digital camera with me. That would have been a good one for the photo gallery.

I am actually an emergency veterinarian...so I work strange hours and really should be asleep right now (but my heat mysteriously quit last night, so I'm waiting for the heater repair man - who is my new heroSmile ) So I see little critters in their greatest time of need and mostly get to make them feel better.

I love my job...I mean it. It's been five years and I still giggle when I get a paycheck because I still can't believe that someone pays me to do what I'd propbably do for free. I also have an assortment of strays that now live here because I can't say no! (one on them is kneading on my are now, making it hard to type!) - my apartment seems to get that much smaller everytime I bring one home...gotta buy that house! or marry that millionaire!

Hey Sam, I noticed that you are a "professional" photographer, any plans to showcase your work online? As a photorealist pencil artist I take all of my own black & white photographs for reference that way my artwork is 100% original. I'd love to see your photos sometime. By the way, I'm watching your show right now on TV. Take care, and let us know how we can get an autograph! LOL! Take care for now!

We just recently got the Travel Channel thru our cable company and when I stumbled onto your show I thought it was a blast! Besides dying to know how in the world did you get this fabulous job Cool, I have some show suggestions -- go and immerse yourself in the Great White North. There's nothing to bet the scenery that I've ever seen [although the Tetons come pretty close], but the great hotels of the Canadian Rockies are magic. I know Banff Springs the best having spent may trips [vacations, my dad's second wedding, my honeymoon and a family reunion] reveling in the unbelievable views and the grand style that the Canadian Pacific Railway started, but Chateau Louise, Jasper and Waterton aren't shabby either [at least from walking around inside, although we never have stayed at them]. If you go, take lots and lots and lots of film, becuase you have to have the aesthetic sense of a gnat to not come home with a zillion rolls of film. Enjoy and I really hope to see you highlight these places. You'll have a wonderful time! Big Grin

Ms. Brown:

I just wanted to say, "Thank You!" for your "joie de vivre" and candid, informative, entertaining narratives to your shows. I've been itching to get out of Alaska on vacation, and watching your show is "painless." (Wish I could say the same for others.) I especially enjoy your sense of humour and wit. You are an asset to the Travel Channel. Your enthusiasm is infectious, I've done a lot of traveling, and I can just imagine that it isn't always what it may seem. I look forward to your new shows.

Staying Tuned . . . Big Grin

Hi Sam.

I am a big fan of yours (shhh....don't tell my wife!!)

I am from Fresno, CA and was wondering whether you checked out the Château du Sureau which is a quaint place in Oakhurst, CA which is just south of Yosemite Nat'l Park. I've never stayed there but have heard great things about it. I have been to the adjoining restaurant, Erna's Elderberry House and it is one of the finest restaurant in the state.

Keep up the good work. Randy

Hello Samantha. It is Ashley again. I was just a little curious to know about two things... 1) In the opening of "Girl Meets Hawaii" it shows you falling off a hammock Razz. Was that a setup or did that really happen? I just thought it was funny because I have recently done the same thing. and for my second question 2) Did you enjoy yourself? I think thats the most important thing. As long as you had a great time then thats all that matters. I hope I didnt take up too much of your time. Thanks byebye!
P.S. My e-mail is cooolash@optonline.net Wink

Dear Sam,
I seem to be following Ashley all the time; I must appear awfully bitter after her...
Yes, the Queen Mother cantered home safely past her 100th birthday, but I vaguely recall that she either went hooves up just before the 101st or right after nosing the tape. A well-run race all the same, and I know I won't do nearly as well - and #50 is only months away for me with my own accomplishments in life being very few, but then look what I'm doing with my time Smile.

As to your couch potato existence for the next couple of months, on cable the other weekend was shown "The Legend of 1900" by your professed fav Tornatore. If by chance you haven't seen it, prop up those Hawaiian-tanned legs and give it a look... I thought it a marvelous film (must confess I've never seen "Cinema Paradiso"; my secret favorite is "Local Hero" - a wonderful thing but which requires some attention. Come to think of it, it even has a Scottish "hotel" for you, and a gourmet "lapin" dinner as well!) {Did you read the post for you in the Hotels category from the lady who recently stayed in the Parisian hotel used in "Charade"? Now that's a hotel, with a suitably deep bathtub, too.}
Well, enough blather here. Once again I swear I'll retire from posting and leave it for others who better deserve your time (though in this cinematic theme this is increasingly sounding like Dread Pirate Roberts in "Princess Bride" - sorry). Hmm - during that rock-climbing sequence sometime in Arizona, were you maybe thinking Cliffs of Insanity?. As always, it's a joy e-mailing you and getting quick cheery snippets in return, and in a time of Orange Alerts you are a delight on TV.

Hey Sam,
Your personality is so addicting, I don't know how anyone can not get hooked on your shows!
I see that an episode is soon to air on La Mansion Del Rio from San Antonio. Definitely my favorite city and I was lucky enough to live there for a year. Unfortunately, I have not stayed in La Mansion,YET, and am very excited to see it featured on your show. What was your favorite thing about San Antonio? Don't they just have the best food?!?! Smile

Samantha:

I'm sure that after hearing from me again, you'll think I'm either a wierdo or just have plenty of time on my hands. However, I never got your autographed picture. I asked for it about a month or so ago. Frown But I still have faith in you.

Took your advise and visited the Disney Wilderness Lodge. Fantastic. My future wife and I enjoyed every minute . . . it was a new way to visit the Kingdom (and we've been to Disney more than 20 times in the last couple of years.)

Thanks and we'll keep watching.

sergio, sergio, sergio mia culpa your picture went out Monday morning. I have to apologize because it should have gone out weeks ago but I found it at the bottom of my mail pile. Under the bills, tax statements and fitness magazines that I never open. It's on the way I promise

dejardin,

My parents milk it for all it's worth. If they don't get the service they want they yell "DO YOU KNOW WHO MY DAUGHTER IS!!" People sometimes recognize me out and about and my parents of course are very proud. What impresses my friends and family most is this forum actually. They think it's pretty wild that people want to talk to me.

No that wasn't my sister. I'd love to have some of my family on. My boyfriend is in the Plaza episode. He's the handsome gentleman that joins me for dinner.

sam_brownfan,

MY GOSH KRISTINA!!! IT'S FABULOUS!! I don't think I've ever been so flattered in my life, really what you did- I'm just overwhelmed. I can't believe a senior in high school would know how to build a website. My boyfriend had to laugh at the "peppy little ball of sunshine" let's just say I haven't been that way lately.

It's darn good to be back Kevin thank-you. I'm glad you enjoyed the mega Sam night. It might have been Sam overload for a lot of people but Travel Channel is figuring out what the best time slot would be. As for movies I saw Chicago and The Hours Loved'em both and I'm reading an incredible book titled Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin which is absolutely incredible. highly recommend. What have you seen and read?

Volly05,

thanks for sharing that story it made me think of my own three roomies all thru college. We usually watched soaps so the fact that you actually chose my show over Bo and Hope, Luke and Laura, etc etc. is pretty cool. I would love to send you a picture. People have been leaving their email address on this forum so I can get your address is that okay?

wow, bad timing. I definately would like to the forum same time every month like every second week but my schedule is never the same. I think the Hawaii show's will air sometime in March. I actually Have to do a voice over session tomorrow to complete the Hawaii episodes before they go to the Travel Channel to air. It's so painful to read the script "The Hawaiian Islands are the most secluded group of Islands in the world and enjoy 85 degree temperatures all year long" when it's 20 degrees outside and it takes me 10 minutes to put on all my winter gear.
