Hello everyone! I'm happy to say that my one hour prime time specials were very successful. For the Travel Channel that means the ratings were great and for me it means I may still have a job in 2003. Great Hotels filming is on hiatus until April, but new shows are premiering all the time.

Just to give you an idea of how I spend my days outside of luxury hotels here's what my Monday has looked like thus far:

I spent the morning cleaning cat cages at the shelter where a cat nearly ate my hand. I spent 20 minutes on hold with my health insurance while they tried to figure out why a basic physical wasn't covered and I then had to go over some legal documents from my lawyer because my landlord would like to evict the entire building so that he can turn it into million dollar lofts. Needless to say I long for my TV life. It would be great to hear from some of you again. It's a lovely way to take a break from insurance problems and eviction notices.

Welcome back to the fansite, Samantha!
Just wanted to let you know that my wife and I love your shows, our favorite is Great Hotels. I have gotten so many interior decorating ideas from those shows! I appreciate your "down to earth" style of hosting. It's very refreshing. Is there any way we could get an autographed photo? Keep up the great work!!

By the way, I certainly empathize with your cat cleaning woes, we own three opinionated Siamese cats ourselves. I've also volunteered at "Second Chance" a local free-to-live type of dog & cat shelter!
I do photorealistic portrait drawings, If you're ever in the Oklahoma City area maybe I can draw you!

Oh, I'm so happy that you're back on this forum! I love the new shows that I've seen amongst the old ones, and the primetime specials were really good too. I have to say that I'm so impressed that you truly take the time to write in to this forum and appreciate your time. It's not too often that viewers ever get to know little tidbits about television celebrities while off camera. Your show is still great, and I love the new (longer) hairstyle! It drives my husband crazy when I watch Great Hotels though, because then I often turn to him and say "that looks like a great place to stay....let's go!"....Talk to you later!

Hi Samantha

We love your shows and your humor. Sorry about the cat bite. My poodle spits on the cat that bit you.
I am from New Elgland also and would love to see any shows that feature Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont. I would most love to see the Mount Washington Hotel featured.

Wow Sam, sorry to hear that the problems with your landlord have gotten worse. On the bright side, this could be your opportunity for a Brooklyn move(I think that's where you told me you wanted to go). I'm leaving my apartment at the end of the month, myself. Woo-Hoo!

Samantha,

I am truly a huge fan of you and your show! I think you are one of the most entertaining and attractive personalities on television! It's impossible to leave my television in anything but a cheerful mood after watching you! Thanks for sharing yourself and taking all of your faithful viewers along with you to your beautiful travel destinations.
Since you're often eating alone on your show, if you ever make it to Cape Cod for the Travel Channel or otherwise I would be thrilled to have you join me for dinner.
Keep up the great work!

Hello Samantha- It is Ashley. We talked back and forth during your last forum and I just wanted to welcome you back. I would like to say congradulations on your "Girl Meets Hawaii" show- it was excellent. I am glad to see things are okay with you (other than the cat incident of course). I actually had my dog scratch me across my face this weekend while I was goofing off (which always looks attractive). Im not sure if you remember, but I brought up how I had pictures of Cancun I would like to show you- well I am going to have to hold those off because I am leaving for Cancun this Friday and I would like to have some updated pictures to show you (if you want). Im so excited to be on the beach rather than the snow. I am stuck at home with the flu and I cant go sleigh riding with it so I think I would rather be on the beach Smile I also have something I would like to give you and it needs to be sent through regular mail and I was wondering if the address you gave in the last forum is still valid. Anyways, my brother says hi once again (hes been nagging me for the past ten minutes). I hope everything is well with you, your family and your friends. Take care!! Smile

Hi Samantha! Love the show! When I was watching your recent primetime specials, you visited a beautiful secluded resort in the Florida Keys that was only accessible by boat, what is the name of this paradise? I'd love to book it for my honeymoon! I know my fiancee and I would just love it! Please let me know if you have even the slightest second! Thanks so much!

Hi Samantha:
It is wonderful that you write to your fans. I can tell you are a very friendly and caring person. It is great you work with cats at a shelter. When I was growing up I had a cat that lived to be twenty-one years old. She was a great companion. I notice you like photography, what kind of pictures do you take? How many people are in your crew when you go to a hotel? Do they all stay at the hotel?

Hey!, this forum has been closed for a long time, I'm glad it is open again. I hope I will soon find out that zip code so I can ask for a picture. Does my letter go directly to you, or does the travel channel people keep it? right now I'm working on my math home work, I am not good at math at all, I'm in the easiest math class in my grade and I still avrage a C to a D. I found out the web site for the Bellagio(it is kind of an obvious name)bellagio.com. it is really nice. I like web sites with music. I am still trying to find one of Keali's cds. i should try a larger store, or some kind of cd depot. are you ever upset with your job? I would hope not, I would give just about anything to have the career you have. although I have a big stage fright phobia. I've never flown before, I might be this summer and I might be a little nervous. I hear stories of people getting sick, and passing out, etc. but I am excited now. well, catch ya later! and hope to hear from ya soon!8-)

Hello Sam. Hope you had some warm days in Hawaii. As I was walking my dog this weekend I decided that I was done with winter. I'm ready for spring now, shorts, tee-shirts and some serious time on my bike! Now if only mother nature would agree...I heard that the groundhog did.

Sorry about the cat...had many of those injuries in my line of work. It's usually the ones that start off sweet and purring and then give you no warning before turning into "Church" from Pet Semitary!!! And their owners always say "well he's never done that before" as the dog from Cujo has me pinned against the wall! If he truely got you...sorry but it will hurt like the devil for days.

I read on the last forum the Hotel Monaco IS A CHAIN? Oh, say it ain't so!!!! I thought that cute little corner was a Chicago original!!! I was very dispointed Frown

Well, Ive actually got to head off to work. I look forward to hearing from you, as does everyone else. Good luck with your laywer, your landlord and the cats.

Samantha, OK, your bedraggled pleas have flushed me, at least, out of retirement to say thanks for returning to talk a bit more. I saw most of the new installment today (Denver) and loved your flawless elocution in the microbrew bit by the minibar in the room du jour(what no 2nd takes anymore? This economy really is tough) and it occurred to me that people here could be giving you hotel suggestions perhaps redundantly since we lack your advantage of knowing what else is in store for this season of the (attractively) longer hair. Could you maybe, with whatever digits haven't been gnawed raw by cats, peck out a few lines to tell us a few highlights of remaining upcoming sights?
And perhaps it's time to go back to the Plaza and see if your sensational work in their interest hasn't earned you a free suite to live in. It could happen... (P.S., not sure when it was filmed, but one of your recent shows made a Queen Mother comment, who is now, alas, dead... Maybe no more of those, huh?). Well, once more enough from me. I swear I wasn't going to post again, but the temptation is just so strong...

Hi Sam,its great to have you back! I took in all of the GH primetime and it was great! I am not sure if you remember my earlier post, but I took a trip to Phoenix and I am longing to return to there myself,it was fantastic! While I was unable to make to either one of the places you suggested,I had a great time and took a lot of spectacular pictures. How can your landlord be such a jerk to such a nice person? Maybe it's better you find a new place,he was probably charging you too much anyway! Hope your tuesday goes a little better Wink

She is getting married soon and was looking for a good hotel or two and your show definitely helped her out! Hawaii, here she comes! lol.

Welcome back to the real world. Thanks for the photo! It’s the perfect picture of you with that gorgeous smile and those smiling eyes. I put it up in my cube at work for inspiration during these harried days and it has become quite a conversion piece.

“Who is she?”
“Samantha Brown.”
“Is she one of those ******* girls?”
“No. She’s on TV. The travel goddess.”
“Travel goddess?! Is she famous?”
“She will be.”

Speaking of fame, I was wondering how your family and friends are handling your growing celebrity? I plan on being fabulously successful and well known someday and was looking for some pointers Wink. Also, I may have missed mention of it, but watching your “Girl Meets Hawaii” show I noticed you with a woman who looked a lot like you and wondered if she was one of your sisters (dem fightin’ Browns).

Hope you had a good trip. Take care.

Hello Samantha. I just sent you a letter c/o the Travel Channel. I really enjoy your show. My mom, sister and I sit down and watch it together. In the busy life of a senior at high school, it's nice to enjoy something with them. So thank you. I'd also like to visit most of the hotels you show! Thanks for the travel Ideas and upbeat nature! You make me smile Big Grin after a stressful day of school. So Thank you very very much.

Hi, Sam! Welcome back to the forums. Good to have you back.

First of all, thank you so much for the autographed photo! It made my day when it arrived in the mail.

Secondly, I totally symapthize with your landlord troubles. I went through something similar a few years ago. I was living in some apartments above some local university offices. Then the university, in its infinite wisdom, decided to renovate the apartments into "workspaces" for the art department. <sigh> I don't have anything against art, but it was a nice place. Oh, well. I hope you don't get booted like I was.

Thirdly, you betcha I watched the whole mega-Sam-Brown night in January! It was a blast! Though it did make me wistful for the times I've been to Disney World. I'm glad that the shows were successful, and that you'll still be employed for quite some time. Yay!! :-)

Hmmmm... what else can I ask? Seen any good movies lately? Watch any TV shows regularly? Read any good books recently?

OK, that's enough out of me. Thank you again for the photo, and for the time you spend with us, your adoring fans. Take care of yourself now, you hear?

Cheers!

Hi Samantha. My name is Amanda. I have written to you before, but the forum always seems to close when I post a message. Well, I have a semi-touching story for you. Last semester, I lived in a house with 5 other girls. Everyday, we would go get a bagged lunch from the cafeteria, and go back and watch your show for an hour. I would sometimes even be late for my 1 o clock class. Second semester, I was forced to live in my sorority house and had to move. Frown I was not happy. But to make a long story short, you and your show keep my old housemates and I together. I planned my classes around your show and everyday I get lunch and go over there and watch it with them. They always tell me I remind them of you. It's such a nice compliment to me Smile Love ya!
Keep up the great work! Big Grin
-Amanda
PS: May I have an autographed picture too please?

Samantha,

I would love to know how you secured such a wonderful job? What education and/or training did you get? Were you an intern at the Travel Channel and worked your way up?

I've always said that I'd love to work for The Travel Channel, the Discovery Channel, National Geo or the Travel Cafe with Chuck Henry traveling and discovering new cultures, places, cuisine and meeting people from all over the world and it seems you've landed the greatest job! I watch the show all the time and have been to most all of your "best hotels" although there are still a couple left I haven't been to, but I will!!!
Please, please I'd love some insight! Wink
Thanks!

I grew up in New England and would love to cover it for The Travel Channel. I'm really excited because I lived in a town called New Castle (it's an actual island) where there was an old hotel-The Wentworth which was abandoned for 25 years. It's one of those Grand Victorian Hotels. Well they finally restored it and it should open next year sometime. I'm also a huge fan of the seacoast of Maine.

It's the Little Palm Island Resort. It's just about 25 minutes from Key West. It's the perfect place for a honeymoon, it really can't get any better than that. Although, brace yourself for the cost.

I'll have you know that I am an actual professional photographer.-by accident. While I was on top of my apartment building in NYC (this was 9 years ago) The Big Foot Pizza Hut Blimp crashed landed on it. I'm not kidding. My friend and I were sunning ourselves. We had two lounge chairs and a baby pool which were destroyed in the accident. I happened to have my new camera with me and got a picture of it before it crashed. It was a big event as you can imagine and I was able to sell my photo to the Associated Press. It was published in USA Today, Time Magazine and a Japanese newspaper. I also received $20 worth of coupons from Pizza Hut. Big Grin As for the Crew-there are seven of us. If you go to the picture section of this website you can see them. And yes we absolutely stay in those hotels.

Well Sam, for now I'm moving into a spacious, luxurious, two up - three down storage closet. I'm spending the month of March house-sitting for a friend who's going to Europe so why bother getting another apartment right now? Besides, it will give me another month to try and find a job in DC or VA Beach. You'll be getting the customary group email with my new phone number as soon as I know what it is. Exciting, huh?

By the way, did you know you can't say "******" on the boards? Ha!

(I edited this message after the first posting to hyphenate 'house-sitting". Thats why Samalama's reply appears before my post. It remains to be seen as to whether Sam is actually pyschic or not. Definitely time for Zzzzz's.)

If you get the time, I would like a picture: To Don (pikz1@aol.com). Thanks Sam. Keep up the great job. You are a very pretty lady and should be proud. Just one of your one-a-be boyfriends.

Hi Sam, how was Hawaii? I just missed the last thread before it was closed.Frown I even missed you posting back in Nov. I found this forum on Nov. 7th & then didn't check back until last month. I've been watching your shows since GVH's. I especially like Girl Meets Hawaii. "God I miss Hawaii". I've been to the Big Island 3 times in my life so far. The last time in 2000. It was great seeing places around the island. The Hilton Waikoloa, Kona Village & so on. Isn't it great swimming with the dolphins?

I've never gotten to walk over to the active lava flows yet either. Next time!

I was Frown to find out you were here in Co. last June & didn't know. I would loved to have met you. Razz It's so nice to see someone with such a great & honest sense of humor. If you make it back to Co. this next seasons taping I'd love to know. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park would be a great hotel to feature. The latest version of "The Shinning" was filmed there.

The new shows look great & so does your hair. Wink
Do you know when the new Hawaii spots you just finished might be on? Well I'll quite for now.LOL

Hi again Sam!
My husband and I watch "Great Hotels" because you're tons of fun but also for the Great Hotels! You were once in a spectacular hotel in UpState NY that overlooked Lake George in the Adironbacks...can you please tell me what the name of that hotel was? We'd like to visit it soon.
It was older and looked like a great mansion overlooking the lake. Simply "awwww"some!

Hi Samantha;
Congrats on the success of the prime-time specials.Sorry to hear about your problems with landlords and carnivorous cats.
This following is a re-post of a post I posted (think I'll go get a bowl of Post Toasties) from last month before the forum closed :

I loved the Mohonk Mountain episode your story of the events of 9/11 is poetic.
I too would like more info about Mouth - are you guys planning or do you have a web site?
Also I noticed some time ago that there was a Samantha Brown II on IMDB.COM (since dissappeared) that gave a listing of an uncredited appearance in the movie Spiderman.I saw the movie last year and vaguely remember a fleeting image of a blonde burglar caught in a spiderweb - it was very quick and hard to make out just wondering if that was you?

Best of Luck

Kliney,

the zip code for the Travel channel is 20814. To get a Keali'i CD you probably do have to go to a large music store or you could go online maybe amazon.com has it or just plug in Keali'i Reichel in a search. My favorite album of his is titled Kawaipunahele. You're going to love your first flight it's very exciting. Here's a tip: The flight attendant is going to try to offer you just a cup of your favorite beverage. DON'T LET'EM DO IT. It's your right to have the WHOLE CAN!

Keldvm,

That book still haunts me. Remember when Church had plastic bag pieces in between his whiskers. AHHHHH! Hotel Monaco is a chain but don't let that name scare you. Each Hotel does there own thing and most importantly lets the employees keep their individual personalities so that you really get a flavor of a city and it's people.

Kohlbits,

That just warms my heart to hear that you scheduled some classes around me. When I went to school It was General Hospital. Tell your friend to have a great time in Hawaii and definately try to make it at least two weeks. One week is simply not enough and she'll be crying all the way home.
