Hello Samantha,

I am a huge fan of Great Hotels and Girl Meets Hawaii and have enjoyed every episode (and many more than once)! My fiance and I have even recorded some shows and shared them with friends -so they can see some of the great hotels we've stayed at or plan to visit in the future.

Your fantastic shows on hotels and adventures in Hawaii were one of the major factors that inspired us to plan our destination wedding on the Big Island next year! Thank you for sharing all of these amazing places with us in such a fun and exciting way. I hope you realize how funny and fabulous you are!

I missed the Great Hotels New York special, so I will have to be on the lookout for the replay. I live just a few mins outside NYC and have enjoyed staying at some of the city's wonderful hotels and look forward to visiting more!

Have you lived in downtown NY for a long time? What is your favorite NYC hotel? What is your favorite NYC attraction?

Best of luck with all your travels and shows!

SAM!!!!!!

Boy we've missed you! Every Monday I check the forum with baited breath....then look forward to the next Monday when I can check again. It has been a full few months for me...became a homeowner...rode by bike across Iowa...switched jobs from an overnight emergency vet to a surgeon with regular hours...it's a lot easier to sleep when it is dark outside! I also got a satellite and Tivo with the new house, so I never miss the show now!!!!

I look forward to hearing about all your travels and seeing the new shows. With 9/11 being tomorrow, I'm sure your filming there will hit home to many people. I was there in the days after 9/11 helping with the rescue dogs and newly orphaned/homeless pets. I have not been back, and not sure I can go back anytime soon. The emotions are still to raw.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to ya soon! So very glad you are back, safe and sound!!!!

First of all, how are you? It has been so long. I have been anxiously awaiting the new season! I got excited when I finally saw it on the schedule. I got to see your pictures from the New York special and it looks like you had a lot of fun. Sadly, I didn't get to watch the special last night because I was still doing homework Frownbut will definately catch it next time it is on. So, I hear you are in my state of Florida. I have never been to Key West, but I know you are having a great time. If you ever need anyone to show you around Florida, I would be more than happy to!! Big Grin How many hotels did you do in Florida for the new season? I hope you are having a good time in Key West!! Hope to hear from you soon! Wink

y'know the one hotel that it seems all my younger audience really loves is The Time, it's on 46th street right off of Broadway. All the rooms are either red, yellow or blue. And they give you certain ammenities so you can "taste" red (jelly beans) and drink red (tea) Kids just seem to love that one. The rooms are small so i would definately look into adjoining rooms or a suite.

so glad to talk to you again too! My lord and I thought I've been crazed. How was your trip throught Iowa and did you go with your Dad? I don't think that I knew that you went to Ground Zero to help the animals. I watched the story of how the Rescue dogs were becoming depressed because they weren't finding any bodies and the workers would fake bury themselves so the dogs could find them and it would lift their spirits. god, that was a heart breaker. Discovery channel has been running stuff about the rebuilding process. I can barely make it through that as well. I have to turn to E! for some fluff.

I'm so proud that you are tivo'ing me.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU MISSED THE SPECIAL! and for what? lousy homework? put your teacher on the forum I need to talk to her/him. I admire your discipline (or your strict parents) Key West is fabulous. It's one of the few places that I have actually relaxed-believe it or not this job has a few stresses. We also went to Naples Fl and Miami. We're going to Disney World again in November.

This is Kathy here, your demented twin sister from Reading, PA.

Strangest thing.
I was just now finally watching a video I taped last week of something off the travel channel and saw you come on advertising about NY week. And I though hey, the (hair) doo looks different - is this new?? So I logged onto here at the exact moment tonight you were posting!

Synchronicity Wink
Luckily I remembered my password!
It's been a bit eh? So glad to hear from you again. I have been having a blast still seeing episodes on Sundays of Great Vacation Homes I haven't seen before. Some are so wacky - I love it Big Grin Dropping the B/D cake on the floor and lighting the candles & singing anyway - what is up wit dat?! Got to hear your singing voice and it is so strong and beautiful btw - would be great if we got to hear you sing more.

I don't feel I know as much about the GVH episodes since we don't chat about it much here - did you & the crew actually stay over one or more nights in every place you filmed? (even the haunted lighthouse Red Face )
Anyone offer you a free place to stay if ever come back? Some of the people were so cool & some really amazing & unique homes as well...

Ok chicklet, just wanted to say HI! Take care -

Hey S.E.B., how the heck are ya. Shoutin’ at ya from the baseball capital of the world, Chicago. Glad to see you once again hobnobbing with your loyal subjects who’ve missed you here in the forum.

I also thought about you when I heard about the Old Man in the Mountain. It must be weird to have such an historic icon suddenly disappear (it’s on your state quarter, for Christsakes). It would be like the old Water Tower collapsing here in Chicago.

I want to tell you that I am enjoying your pictures, especially the ones you took at the Emmys (youse guys was robbed!). I thought I sensed a look of envy as well as admiration on your face in the picture you took with Martha Stewart. I had a feeling there was nothing more you’d rather do than trade places with her. Then again, with what’s been happening to her recently, maybe not.

The one question I had you have already answered (clairvoyance?) and that was how tall you were. 5-4 would have been just what I would have guessed, maybe taller but you wear those heels a lot. Yeah, you’d make a great Rockette. The New York segment with Sheba was a hoot. Who is she, a friend’s dog? I plan on being in New York again this fall so I have been watching the Travel Channel with interest this week.

Well that’s all for now. Take care of yourself and if I don’t talk to you again (I’m heading to Cleveland this weekend) safe travels as always.

Hi Samantha,

Big fan of all your shows, and enjoy your New York special. However I was very surprised that the Four Seasons Hotel in NY did not make the list. I have stayed in several Four Seasons Hotels around the country with incredible experiences, and consider the New York property and the best Four Seasons Hotel.

As a fellow resident of chicago I gotta ask you...

Cubs or Sox? North or South? Blue and Red or Black and White?

My shrine is Wrigley...there is no greater. AND let me point out that Sam went to see the Cubs in Chicago...not the Sox. However...the Cubs just collapsed in the seventh against the San Juan/Montreal Expos. Is next year truely here or is it another cruel hoax.

So this is what a pennent race feels like!

And PS...If Mrs' O'Leary's cow couldn't bring down the Water Tower, nothin will!

Hello Sam! (not sure if you're still responding today, but I thought I'd give it a try) I just wanted to say that I love your shows! For 2 years I went without the Travel Channel (my cable company didn't offer it), but once in a while I went to a friend's house and they had it, so I would always go over just to watch your shows, lol! Now I finally have the Travel Channel at home, and I watch Great Hotels every day! Great Vacation Homes is still my favorite show of yours, but its never on Frown How often do you travel for the show?? You go all over the country, so it seems like you never get to actually go home and take a break. Also, who pays for you to stay at the hotel, you or does the show?? When you travel, are you allowed to bring anyone with you (like your boyfriend, friends, family)?? Anyways, I think you are a GREAT host, you're so funny! Actually, your reminds me of me sometimes with all your jokes. You seem like a great person to know and I can't imagine the shows without you. So keep up the good work Sam!

Born and bred southsider so I'm a Sox fan. Oddly enough, I now find myself working on Addison just down the street a ways from Wrigley. Poor Sam just didn't know any better Big Grin

And yes for you outsiders, the generality is that Cub fans couldn't care less about the Sox while Sox fans despise the Cubs (our favorite teams are the Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs).

Sox took it on the chin tonight as well. These next few weeks should be fun. Let's enjoy the ride.

Hi Samantha,

Wow, you must have some memory! I'm sure tons of people have offered to take you out to dinner in NY and we did send you something a while back but if you're still interested, we're there!

You can name the place or we can take you to some of our favorite hangouts in our hometown of Brooklyn! You name the date and we'll take care of all of the reservations!!

Also, if that doesn't work out for you, we're also interested in a signed picture. But, we're hoping we wouldn't need one since we're all having dinner one night, right?? Wink

Thank you and I hope to hear from you again,
Best regards,
Edwin and Jean

Hi Sam,I was glad to see a response today on my message I posted last evening.

Wow I cant believe with all the traveling you do you have never been on a cruise.

If you like the ocean, and you love having choices, and being pampered,a cruise is a great thing to do.

I took my family on a Disney cruise this last summer and they loved it.

I think I just love to travel period.

Last year was a year of travel for me,it started with the U.S Virgin Islands in June 2002.

Then Napa Valley CA in Nov.

In Jan a short cruise to the bahamas with girl friends. That was a wild trip.

Feb a trip to Hawaii, with my hubby I have to say the Hilton Hawaiian Village is such a nice place. Seeing my home I lived in while I was a child was a special treat.

June the Disney cruise, and July a road trip to Austin TX I love Austin but dont recommend such a long road trip with two wild boys in the back seat.

Now its starting all over again.

I take my trip in Oct to New York City, and then leave on a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas.

Then in Nov I cruise on Princess for 7 days to Mexico, and in Dec a short 3 day cruise to the Bahamas with my hubby for our 10yr Anniversary.

I joke with my friends that I am cruising so much this year by the end of Dec I will have grown gills.

I would love an autograph photo of you.

You seem like such a nice person You are always spunky I know I have a smile when watching your show.

Where were you raised I know someone mentioned Syracuse in an earlier post our friend Mike Hopkins is assistant basketball couch for the college basketball team.

I look forward to reading your post tomorrow.

Take care from your GA friend Ashley

I've been a avid fan since your first season. I watch all of your episodes and then make a list of those hotels I'd love to visit along with my wife.

Do you encourage an "audience" during your tapings? I'm also a New Yorker and would have loved to have been able to watch you at work. Can you post a schedule?

Wow! Thanks for responding to me and thanks for sending an autograph.

To answer your question YES I WON MONEY IN VEGAS! Well... Ok.... I started out with $20 and I ended up leaving with $25.... I guess you could say I'm not a high roller. Normally I gamble more but this time I spent most of my money shopping!!! I've lost weight and most of my clothes don't fit so I need to buy new ones. (Yay!) Maybe next time I'll win millions....

What is your favorite hotel/casino in Vegas?? I love the Paris and the Venetian, but I've never stayed at either before.

Cheers!
Melissa
mjurgensen@hotmail.com

PS: As far as New York goes - I love the Intercontinental Barclay at 48th & Lex. They have the most comfortabl beds! I stayed there on my first visit to NYC earlier in the year.

Sam,
It would be great if you could send us an autographed photo! Smile

Will you be visiting Chicago soon? I've seen a few of the shows you've done here. I remember the show "keldvm" and "dejardins" mentioned, when you visited the Cubs. We all know the Cubs are going to win this year!

It's so cool to visit so many places from the comfort of one's family room!

Just as other people did, I missed the New York Great Hotels special. I can't find when it will be on again. I looked through the schedule on the website and I can't find it. Frown

Keep traveling!

As for me, I have been deployed to the dessert all summer and have missed your shows. Needless to say, I’ve telling the troops about your show.

Anyway, how is the new series GH III coming along? When will the new series start airing?

wow, don't you have alot of post to get to!! Just wanted to say I love your shows and You keep us watching everyweek when something new comes on. With your diverse knowledge about traveling, I wanted to get your opinion on where a good place for a honeymoon would be. We live in Ohio and cannot fly anywhere, so I know that limits our options big time, but wanted to ask you anyway. I am sure there are some lovely places in northern florida, SC, NC, maybe even in NJ? or NY? Any input wouuld be appreciated. Thank you for your time, your the best!!!! Keep up the great work, what a job to have!!!

Hi Sam,

A quick thanks for the photo you sent a few months ago. What a beautiful picture (wait'll you folks just asking see it!)!

A quick update, you'll recall that my wife recognized one of the staff of the Palmer House in Chicago who appeared on your show as one of her old classmates. Well, there's a class reunion coming up in about two weeks, and we're going, so it looks like I'll get to meet her, and ask that musical question, "So, what's Samantha Brown REALLY like! Wink

From one Brown Gal to another,

This is my very first time posting and I never miss your show here in sunny CA. My hubby and I are planning a trip to Savannah next month and I wanted to stay at the Marshall House but it wasn't available so we booked a small (haunted)B&B near Forsythe Park. I was just wondering while you were at the Marshall House, if anything ghostly happened to you or your crew. It's supposed to be very haunted due to the fact it served as a hospital during the Civil War. In fact, many of the older hotels I see on your show are supposed to be haunted. Have you any experiences with ghosts during your stays? I have stayed at a few places with some pretty strange happenings. I'd like to be the "Samantha Brown" of the supernatural. Everybody loves a nice place to stay on their journeys, but how about someplace that's mysterious or exciting as well! Hope to hear from you!

My prayer's go out to all on this 9/11!

Hi Samantha, it's great to get this opportunity to "talk" with you. I love Great Hotels! You do an excellent job. I saw your NY special the other night, it's well done.
Also I'm glad to hear you'll be featuring Boston hotels at last. It's a great old city with some truly great hotels. I live on the north shore, hence my screen name. Can't wait for the new season to begin! I feel like I have a quick getaway every day. I really love the shows you did at WDW hotels, I've stayed at the Grand Floridian and Beach Club and loved them both.
My husband and I are now looking toward a trip to Las Vegas next spring. What would you recommend as far as where to stay? Thanks!

My best, Debbie

Raffles L'Ermitage
Beverly Hills, Calif.

This hotel is listed on the great hotels page- but i've never seen the ep- what other hotel was featured during this ep??

would there be a reason they never air it??

also-- how do you pick what hotels to do each season??

would you ever consider doing a murder mystery weekend- at a hotel or inn??

have you been thinking ahead to next season and what you may do then??

You're too cool, and inspiration hit me yesterday so I just had to draw you! Because you're so animated, I figured a cartoon would be the best representation of you. Wink I drew it completely in Photoshop (that's a computer program) with a computer mouse! Eek You can see the picture here:

Hi Sam,
Based largely off your enthusiastic recommendation of the Four Seasons Hualalai, my wife and I visited there two months ago (our first time in Hawaii too). There aren't enough kind words or superlatives to properly describe that resort. By far, it's the best place we've every stayed. Oh, also...something I don't think you didn't mention in any of your Hualalai stuff: The Sea Turtles! My wife was so excited to see all of them in the surf and resting on the beach at the resort. In fact, we stayed out so long on the first day watching them that we got too sunburn to walk! Ouch!

I've been trying to think of an interesting question to ask you (something that you've never been asked before). The only thing I can come up with is this: If a barroom brawl broke out between you & Tracy Gallagher, who would win, and why? Yeah, that's the best I can do.

Thanks again for all the fun on GH!
