'coz you are good to uuuussss! Big Grin

Once again, you're showing it by coming online to chat with us fans, and we appreciate you for it.
Where to begin...well, certainly, congratulations on GH's Emmy nominations! A great host is nothing without his or her crew, and Stan, Jerry, and everyone else bring out your best every single day. Here's hoping they get the recognition they deserve at Emmy time, and I have a strong feeling you, Samantha, will hear your own name on nomination day 2005.
While GH going on hiatus is a little sad, seeing the beauty of Europe through your eyes should be a lot of fun. Capttuttle, Mother Orange, et al have given wonderful suggestions on places to visit across the pond, and we know they won't steer ya wrong. I might add, if you ever get homesick for the Big Apple, Madrid, Spain will cure those pangs. Its downtown lights up like Times Square at night, and great shopping and cuisine is just steps away from anywhere (though with the recent bombings, now might understandably not be the best time to visit).
I can see that you have a great rapport with your Beach Week cohosts from the promos; had you ever met them before filming? You guys look like you're having a blast in the little in-show vignettes (which is why I was disappointed when the Beach Week ads our radio stations are running didn't feature any of you; what's up with that?).
And I can't leave without wishing you a happy (belated) birthday! I had a feeling yesterday was the big day, but I wanted to confirm it from others' posts rather than have it not be true and look foolish on this board.
Speaking of which... Roll Eyes(yes, it's a groaner of a segue, but if you can't be cheesy on April Fool's Day, when can you be?) being that today is what it is, can you share any memorable pranks from your TV shows that either you pulled or that were pulled on you? With your mischievous personality, I could see you pulling a fast one on some unsuspecting rube.
Alright, no more rambling. I say simply, good luck at the Emmys and in Europe (and PLEASE open a board devoted to the new show when it begins), and I can't wait for America's Best Beach Hotels tomorrow night and Hawaii's Best Hotels Saturday night! Cool

Hi Sam Sam its Bam Bamm again. Im in a really good mood today. I woke up this morning got alot of work done today. Then took a nice nap (boy I love napping) then went to the gym (I know YUCK). But summer is right around the corner and I have at least (cough cough Confused 10lbs to drop). I had an incredible workout not bad considering I just started working out again on Monday and im still a little sore from that workout. I did 40 minuts of cardio (that nearly killed me I thought, why do I do this to myself). How is getting out of shape so easy and getting into shape so hard? So I began to think to myself im a pretty smart guy. Im college educated (even though my best friends 9 year old girl can spell better than me). I thought, how did inventers come up with there ideas? I think I figured it out they were lazier than me. Smile They saw something that is hard to do, and made some type of gadget to make the task at hand easier. So now I am starting to wonder how come we have so many great inventions but yet nobody has invented an ice cream, pie, cake or candy bar that makes you loose weight in your sleep. Something to think about. I could rule the world Razz if I could come up with that magical weight loosing ingrediant. Well back to my good day. I manage to sqeeze some alone time with Samantha's show Big Grin of coars that should go with out saying. But yet the good day didnt stop there. Low and behold Detroits Beloved Red Wings won the Presidents trophy. The Detroit Pistons are the 3rd seed for the begining of there playoff run. So its a good thing I renewed my Membership at the gym. With the Red Wings and the Pistons both looking good for the playoffs. I can guarantee Ill be spending alot of time with my friends at the local BW3's gorging on wing dings and barley soup (A.K.A. BEER). Big Grin Sam if there is ever a time to come to the Detroit area its to be part of the Red Wing and Pistons playoffs this state really comes alive. Everywhere you go there is fun to be had. Everyone is almost too friendly during this time of the year. Well Sam I hope you had a wonderfull B-day. yesturday. I was also wondering how many Candles I should put on the cake that I plan on eating on your behalf (just kidding). I have a question I would like to ask you and I hope this question is not crossing the boundry. How tall are you? I know you are short like me but seeing you in those beach week shows everyone seems to tower over you. Which I think makes you even more adorable. Like my grandma told me I could put you in my pocket and take you home. Wink. Well anyways I think I talked your ear off enough today. I hope all is well. Take care bye!!!

Eggplant-still going strong
Big M-gone (I never liked it anyway)
Peter's-struggling to survive due to
Wegman's Expanded Super Store! Bulk candy is BIG. Most definitely THE place to hang out and be seen for anyone within a ten mile radius, especially students taking a break from playing poker in the dorms. I recently found out that those kids who should be studying are the ones watching those Poker shows on the Travel Channel.
I am going to try to see Twelfth Night on Saturday at Lemoyne College for $8. Never have seen it but you and Captain Tuttle have convinced me that perhaps I should. And how did Fiona like that soliloquoy at the top of page 3?

I almost forgot to tell you. When I read the "About Samantha" section of this website, I saw that you liked the movie Cinima Pardisio. I have never heard of that movie but thought what the heck ill check it out. Boy I had to go to 3 different video stores to find the video store that had it for me to rent out. Well I sat down with my mom and we watched it. We both liked it. The ending was great but I think the best part was when the guy was a little alter boy. When he and the preist were walking back from that I think was a funeral, and the boy saw his friend riding his bike and he immidiately fell to the ground and grabed his leg like he was hurt just to get out of walking. My mom laughed so hard and pointed her finger at me and said that was you. You were a little shiester just like that, and of coars I had my Sh## grin Big Grin going on when she was acusing me out of all people being a shiester. Big Grin. But needless to say we both had a great time watching that great movie. Thanks for Mentioning that movie in your personal section.

Let's see we have seen you drinking on the show so you must have been 21, unless you are still using that fake ID, so that would make you 22 or 23... wait I'm not supposed to ask a lady her age. We'll go with 22. But I must say that you don't look old enough to drink. I think I will need to see two photo IDs.Razz

Dear Sam,

Those five minute waits for the screen to open were occurring down here yesterday as well, and were indeed Excruciatingly Painful To Watch, but I gather are over now. But today I'm off again to be cheerful and informative guide, though certainly not as caffeinated as your tri-corner hatted friend on the Freedom Trail from Boston (a really attractive episode, by the way), and no silly period uniforms for me; just respectable tweed jackets and tie.

I hear that FerretPossum has been alerted to your bright and slightly older presence on the forum, Sam, and hope you'll be hearing from him. He'd certainly recognize the weather here this morning: dark, gloomy and cool in the Wuthering Heights or D.H.Lawrence tradition. Will be no gorgeous distant views of the Blue Ridge up there today, despite my own *mellifluous* efforts.

As for romantic Dramaqueen (could there be an unromantic dramaqueen?), very kind words, but I'm afraid you'll find that I don't know how to ride a horse, much less a shiny white one. My roots are actually mostly northern Irish, though they're a crowd generally known for their total lack of humor. And I think thanks are due to the ever thoughtful Dejardins for discovering the birthday girl's vital statistic, and although I'm pretty sure she's right-handed, we now need to know if she throws and bats that way as well. And Kelly! You should tell us more about NZ and your favorite South Sea islands. And do you ever think of the old scene in the Simpsons where the vet steps into the waiting room and tells Homer and Marge that Santa's Little Helper's condition has been upgraded to Frisky? Mother O already knows what I'm thinking, so I'll say no more there.

And doe-eyed Samantha, despite being tethered to your pc until you've caught up with us, have a terrific weekend all the same. I'll be up working Sunday as well as today - and a lot of April - and have some fairly crucial bball games to beg and plead over tomorrow, but I'll of course still be peering at this board ridiculously often when I can, as I'm hopelessly and helplessly hooked. But not til tonight. I actually have a cat vs. lilypond question for both you and Kel, but it'll wait now as I have to fly...

P.S., Oh, I also hear that if you guys win your Emmy (and the camera work really is terrific; esp. with handling hotel room mirrors, sometimes even using them to catch you in intriquing poses) then Carmine, like the Simpsons voices, is going to ask for a big raise Razz. The price of success, dear Sam.

Top 'O the Morning,

And a fine Friday it is. Just a brief (honest) pop in. Glad to hear that you'll be with us through the weekend Sam. I'm sure you have tons of activities you would rather pursue in the evenings than spend them typing away on a stubborn computer with network problems. You obviously sense just how much we look forward to these opportunities to commune with our favorite Hotel Goddess.

Last night's performance by Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway was superb. It never ceases to amaze me how when any given instrument is properly played in the hands of an expert, the resulting sound can fill a concert hall without the need for amplification. Sir James only used a microphone to speak to the audience briefly about each selection providing some history about the composer or the piece itself. Loved to listen to him speak with that lilting Irish brogue. And what humor that man has. Just delightful. Two hours were gone in the blink of an eye.

Which brings me to my Captain. How you do make me smile. Do you have some kind of radar that enables you to know that Howard's End is an entry on my all time favorite movies list? Your mental image is pretty well on the mark to describe me. Although the comparison of myself to Vanessa Redgrave takes one from the ridiculous to the sublime. And "resident star?" My, my such lofty status to have been bestowed by you and Mother. I am TRULY not worthy, but will do my best to live up to your expectations. Smile And Yes! I REALLY want to read a chapter of your work! think hard about that generous offer.

So much for short. I'm out of here to spend the day drinking Peet's coffee and walking around Berkeley before tonight's pre-concert lecture.

I'll see everybody tomorrow. My apologies Sam for taking over the thread with my personal agenda. Don't send Carmine after me. I promise to behave. Well at least I'll try to behave. If Carmine does appear, my plan is to appease him by showing the spot already cleared on the fireplace mantle for the much anticipated photo. Big Grin

A Wonderful Weekend to One and All!

I will start by thanking Mother Orange for her lovely email telling me your forum was open again! You truly have the sweetest bunch of fans going and of course I include me in this as I am just as cute as a button right now.

It's great that you are coming to Europe - I do hope they don't work you too hard and you get a chance to enjoy it. Please resist the impulse to go native while in France - I still haven't recovered from Julia Roberts' armpits that time.

Hurrah hurrah to your team on the Emmy nominations. If you could see me now you would note that I am standing and applauding. You would
also note that I am wearing my flannelette pyjama bottoms and a Captain Caveman t-shirt but that's not important right now. I hope you are not too disappointed on not being nominated personally. The fact that a show in which your writing and personality play such a large part was nominated is still a heck of compliment. But if you would like someone to help you toilet-paper the academy member's houses, just let me know.

I'm stunned that you don't have a truckload of awards already, but you do have the regard of an Englishman. Agreed, I won't look nearly as cool on your mantelpiece but I will make a darn handy draught excluder.

Anyway, do have a lovely Emmy evening, take lots of photos, and wear one of those huge frocks that is so flowy you can actually be riding a skateboard underneath without anyone noticing. I hope you win all the awards going, but if not Caro has offered to fashion you an Emmy out of kitchen foil and filled with chocolate.

(Actually wouldn't it be great if they handed out awards in the form of piñatas at these award ceremonies? "And the Oscar for Best Actor goes to Sir Anthony Hopkins! Now let's see how his aim is! Jump, Sir Anthony, jump!!")

With that, I think I had better be off.

Good vibes to all, Symon (& Caro too).

It was your birthday? Was there cake? Did I MISS cake?? Drat!! Well, many happy returns!

Hello Capt. Tuttle! I'm still stunned you remembered me when I posted my hotel recommendation! I hope all's good with yourself and you're all booked in for the big trip! My goodness, do you guys all know each other?

As for Dramaqueen, how's that English accent coming along?? I hope we're talking Renee in "Brigit Jones" here and not Kevin in "Robin Hood". You know, an English accent is a useful thing in the USA. For example, I am actually a very common little man, but when in the US people hear the accent and assume I'm either terribly sophisticated like James Bond or hugely EVIL like Alan Rickman in "Die Hard". Either way I get GREAT service in restaurants.

Right, I really am going now.

missed your birthday, but Happy Birthday wishes on your next.....

so much has been said about how wonderful and charming you are, and all is so true...what a delightful inner spirit you bring to the world.....truly a "God given Gift"....

sounds like at this time in your life you are pretty much the city girl....i myself prefer a bit more casual....birds chirping, squirrels scurrying, and the fresh scent of spring; of course the city (Portland, OR) is only 15 minutes away.....but ya know....a quick trip to big "big apple" does sound kind of exciting.....

heck.....gonna make this real easy for ya.....how's about an invite for a cup of coffee (ok a pot)....i will fly to New York and meet you at any coffee house of your choosing, (never been to n.y).....totally non-threatening.....you could even send in a friend to check me out....i would so, so much like to meet you, even for a moment....best thing ever....(though it would be the most expensive cup of coffee i've ever had)....all ya gotta do is show up....you could give me the inside scoop on the city and all it's attractions, and what better attraction than "Samantha Brown" Big Grin.....need a pic to recognize me, email me one of you (pleeeezzz) so i can send you mine....gware77080@aol.com (one of my addy's)....i can pretty much guess (from reading most of the replies) that it may not be possible, (hmmmmm) but i just had to ask.....at least i gave it a shot....OK ??

and....P.S..........Mrs. Brown..............

So I was trying to figure out a hotel you'd highlighted in Hawaii on this great discovery.com site and realized that I could CHAT with Samantha! Cool. Then I realized that one must be able to figure out how to use this chat thing... I hope it works. Obviously, I am not computer saavy.

In exploring this website, I realized that you write just like a good friend of mine and that you like wine and Barry Manilow. So, I'm thinking we should be friends. If you're ever in southern Ca (Laguna Beach) let me know. We'll have drinks (and sing some classic Manilow).

Hi,

A few years ago, I had a nervous breakdown, lost my career, and was diagnossed with panic disorder. This is not unusual these days, there are millions like me. Everything is fine now, I'm working my way back, on the right meds, everything is cool. My point is that in the worst of it, I could turn on the travel channel, Vacation Homes and Great Hotels took me away. Samantha is so adorable, and cleaver, she was a bright spot in a dark time. I know this sounds corny, but, thanks Sam.

I am now looking to re-enter my field, I am a licensed embalmer, and have apps. out. Right now I'm a shift manager for a large retail liquor store. I guess, one way or another, I was just born to put fluid in people.

Your my hero!

Sam-Thanks for talking me into splurging at spas, once in a lifetime indulgences in my book should be 'once in every vacation' indulgences. I can't wait to hit the Canyon Ranch in Vegas next month and I'm excited since I saw in your Vegas episode that they have a climbing wall. The holds did look pretty large on that outcropping though...hmm, did they switch them up to look better on TV? Just kidding, I think you were doing some actual sweating!

Travel question-Who gets to use all the frequent flier miles? Do they let you have them?? The Travel Channel should just invest in a plane, United is probably selling some cheap...

Let me know how it is going in the search for the perfect Emmy dress, unfortunately I'm not working in NY this weekend so I am missing all the great sample sales like Billion Babes! Avoid black, it's been done to death...

Have a great day,
KMG

Hi Sam,

I really love your show and just had to try and let you know. I read in an interview on the Travel Channel Fansite, that you don't like to hear your own voice. Well, I just love to hear you talk...I could listen to you for hours! You always brighten my day.

Take care,
Francis

p.s. How could an average guy form Georgia get an autographed photo of you?

This is the first time I've written in to a forum online, and what inspired me? While browsing through the Travel Channel for pictures of sunny beaches, I saw that you, Sam were actually on a forum this week. Just thought it would be nice to let you know that I love your show, and find it perfectly suited for "wishful thinking" therapy. My girlfriends from college and I had some great road trips, but now we've either moved away or they're married and taking care of the kids. I often wish for the "good old days" when two or more of us would take off to Palm Springs or Mexico. Of course, we couldn't afford any "Great Hotels" back then, but it was still a blast! You remind me of one of my girlfriends, and believe me, I would be doing exactly the same things you do if I were traveling right now. Great minds think alike! I worked with dolphins for quite a few years, and if you like them as much as I do, you might want to try and find a "Great Hotel" near one of the charter boats that take people out to swim with the wild spotted dolphins in the Bahamas. Actually, don't tell anyone, but I would just use the hotel as an excuse to get out there with those wonderful creatures! I would love to work on a job like yours, and although I do work in your business (on feature films, mostly), the only places they have sent me are north, into the freezing rain and snow, and further north, and then north some more. Never once have I been flown out to work on something filming on a sunny beach! Hence the wishful thinking therapy and the Travel Channel browsing when I should be working on a script breakdown that's due last week. But I couldn't resist the chance discovery that I could send you a message. Just wondering---how many hula lessons have you had? You seem to have caught on to it very well. Anyhow, thanks for the sense of humor and that psychic ability to find free stuff--- you must have the world's finest collection of tiny toiletries, ever!

Hello there Sam! I have been a fan for a while now. I love your show in Savannah at the Marshall House Smile it was so cool to see you in that dining room when I've sat there several times myself. When are you coming back to Savannah? I'm going to school at SCAD now as a Theatre Performance/Tech major. How could I go about getting an autographed picture of you for my Dorm room wall??? I watch you ever morning before I go to class so thanks for making my mornings something to look forward to Smile Wink

Hi Sam,
My computer was super slow yesterday too! I wanted to reply more, but my computer was too slow so I couldn't.Frown Personally I think all computers hate me. I am enjoying the warmer weather here in Michigan. It's supposed to get colder(say it ain't so), I'm praying for warm weather for my birthday coming up! I'll be 23. You're the same age aren't you Sam.Wink How did your birthday go Sam? I hope you had the best time!Big Grin I know you have tons of pictures to send out, but I wondered if I could have a picture of you too?Confused My email is: dramaqueen102@yahoo.com. I don't know how tall you are, either Sam, but I think anyone on this forum would be taller than me. I'm only 5ft. 0.5in. tall. Yep, I'm a shortie. So I need me a tall man(okay now I'm using southern t****, not as good as my English accent). Sam your attitude & personality absolutely bring the show alive!Smile I hope you & the GH staff have a wonderful day!Cool

To Captuttle: You're too kind!Smile You make me blush.Wink Have you ever visited Ireland to trace your Irish roots? I once read a poem about the Cliffs of Moher(I think that's how you spell it), but I don't remember it now. I would love to visit Ireland and England someday! Have fun traveling to different places, & have a nice day!Cool

To Ferretpossom: Hi how are you? I don't believe I've seen you on here since early March at least. What have you been up to? Me? Looking for a job. Haven't found one but I keep looking. I believe you're right about dramaqueens. We're all hopelessly romantic! I haven't found my knight yet, but he's out there somewhere. I have a Toys-R-Us commercial in my head right now. It's the one where rabbits are singing "Peter Cottontail." I have no idea why, but I have it in my head. I have to thank you for your kind words. You and Captuttle make me blush.Wink If you don't know it yet, I've made a list of places to travel & stay at in Michigan. It's on the GH forum. Hopefully my accent is more like Renee Z's accent, from Bridget Jones's Diary! Have fun traveling, and have a nice day!Cool

To Mother O, & Hotelsfan: Thank you for all your updates!Smile I know I appreciate them!Smile I know it takes a lot of time making those lists, so thank you very much!Big Grin Have fun traveling, and have a nice day!Cool

To Bam_ Bamm: Being from Michigan, I try to root on all the teams from here. Now if we could only get the Detroit Tigers & the Detroit Lions to do better! It's too bad Michigan didn't win the Rose Bowl this year. I know they won the Rose Bowl in 1998. I like some sports, but I'm more of a drama type person(as if you couldn't tell just by my username right). It's nice to have a fellow Michiganian on here!Smile I hope you have fun in all your travels, and I hope you have a nice day!Cool

Hi Sam (and everyone else). Wow, I miss two days on this forum and I come back and see all of these posts! I hope sam will have enough time to get through them. Ah well, at least shes here. In other news, I was reading the first message posted on this forum, where sam said that she doesn't provide a service, so why would she be nominated for an award. Well, I was sitting at my desk at school and it hit me like a ton of bricks- Sam provides us with some good clean fun and laughs. This week, something shocking happened at my school, and as they announced it over the intercom, I thought of sam. The fact that she makes us laugh with out using "dirty jokes". I mean who else can make you laugh at a chair (the Rittenhouse episode) or a hotel lobby, or something like that. How many shows can we really say are good for the whole family these days? There are so few TV shows that are funny but do not involve any jokes based on something that wouldnt be allowed on todays airways, so thanks sam, for making us smile and laugh and doing it with such style and class. And I am personally very upset that you weren't nominated for the award, your the best host on TV end of discussion. Rest assured that I'll find someone to send an email to about this Big Grin. On the lighter side, its nice to see everyone here and active on the forum. If only we could do this on the forums on a regularly. And now for notes to some people:
sandiegan- I can't wait to try those wings! Please feel free not to post the calories or fat in them as I'd much rather assume the count is at 0 per serving (I wish Big Grin). Hey a guy can dream can't he?
Capttuttle- I find it very interesting that you happen to have Irish herritage. When I first joined this forum, I noticed that your posts were unlike anyone else's. They contained an element of sophisticated humor and elaborite vocabulary. Oddly enough, around the same time, we had a new english teacher, who was born in Ireland, who honestly reminds me alot of you, with a level of sophistication and vocabulary far surpassing the majority of us. Hmmm...maybe its just the luck of the irish Big Grin
To ferretpossum- I wanted to ask you to stop by the forum a bit more often. I went and found you website in the older posts, and it is a hoot! I was laughing like crazy for an hour. Also, though this is extremely irrelivent, I think that its just AWSOME you live in the UK. I've always aspired to live there for some reason. Perhaps the history and lifestyle is a bit more appealing to me over there then it is over here. Not to mention the proimity to the rest of europe. Anyway nice to (internet) meet ya Big Grin.
Hummingbirdlady- Just wanted to say hello. I've continued to plan my trip to California and have decided to stay at either MacAurthur Place or the Kenwood in for my Napa/Sonoma area hotel. It will be a nice change of pace, so thanks for that reccomendation. Its part of the reason I love this forum so much. You learn get great tips not only on hotels, but on area attractions and sometimes life in general. So thanks, and to you and capttuttle and keldvm and that whole gang, I just wanted to say the this place is alot more exciting with you guys, its so much fun to log on and have something to read about besides hotels and yet still relating to sam. It adds a bit of variety, which is a definate good thing.
To anyone who knows- Does anyone find Julietravels really interesting? She keeps posting these fun reviews and I know she does something in hollywood but I would love for her to stick around and talk travel with us. SHe has some great tips about places n' stuff.
dramaqueen- How's it goin'? Im sure the job thing for the grand hotel is comming close. I've got my fingers crossed that you'll get the job, but I think that a person with the passion you have is a shoe-in for sure. So what do ya think of the talk with Sam forum? Pretty cool huh. I was so shocked to learn that I could talk to sam that when I found it, my jaw dropped to the floor and I called my mom in to read what i thought I saw. So cool that she does this....
To smittenwithsam- I just wanted to tell you that the We love you Sammmmmm coz' you are good to us this was really funny. Anyway, until tommarrow, Austin

Hi samantha,
I hope your week went well, with talking to all of the faithfull followers, and your birthday all in the same week. I keep trying to write a long posting, and become one of the favorites, but I guess that after writing my scripts, I like to keep it sweet and simple.
Please have a great weekend, and always have safe travels wherever you may go.
Next time I'll try for a three pager. Wink

Do you realize I Googled you just to find out more about my favorite TV personality! I started reading the posts, but it's late and there are way too many. I was trying to find a bio of you somewhere, but haven't yet. I was surprised to find out you live in NYC. I was guessing CA. Or maybe the South. Go figure.
Anyhow, what little tidbits I was able to catch lead me to think you are leaving to go live in Europe to work? Could you indulge me and tell me more?? (Thanks!) I love your perky personality, and I'm not a perky-lover. You're perfect for your job, which I am SO ENVIOUS of!!! How on earth did you ever get your gig? Wow. Do you need an assistant? For free??? :-)
So you do have a significant other! I wondered if you traveled alone.
By the way, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! An Aries!! Not surprised! You're a ball of fire. I mean that in a complimentary way (I'm a Leo).
Anyhow, keep up the great work. Love, love, love your shows.
Linda (that would be Mil-N-E-M-Gal. No one ever gets it.)

Hmmm, a lot of insider stuff here. It would appear that folks already in Sam's life do not have her phone number or address so they use this forum to talk to her. Many wireless phone companies offer nice deals now, you guys should give em a look-see.

Also, the statement "Samantha will be in the forum all week" has been a bit misleading...which specific days does "all week" denote? I'm new here and I guess I'm not hip to what "all week" means. Please don't take this as a critical comment. For example, lots of grocery stores advertise "open 24 hours" but sometimes it isn't 24 hours in a row. I would not dream of holding Samantha's forum to a higher standard than I would a Quickie Mart.

I do know, however, when a person has overextended herself and I would like to offer my humble advice to our Ms Brown. It is okay to just be upfront and honest and tell people "no". You don't want to do the forum anymore. You don't have the time. That's it...end of story...quick and painless like ripping off a bandage. It might sting at first but then you will be released from the Pain in the Arse that this all must be giving to you.

These comments are purely my own and I am certain I stand alone in them. So I won't waste your time as I am sure the "Capper" and "BIG O" are bustin to write more epic messages for us all to see.

Not an epic measure, but just a gentle opinion of my own here. I clicked on early this a.m. so see if I'd missed anything overnight, to find that I hadn't - no problem there - and then this from an evidently disgruntled Fan-No-More, whose opinion should be respected. But...

It's my understanding that this is just a simple fan site, but unusual in that the object of its adoration actually takes part in it when she can. It's not her job to, however, to my understanding, certainly not to spend the entire week staring at it. It is Ms. Brown's job, though, to travel for I gather 3 weeks out of 4, and evidently has even longer journeys, and maybe longer stretches away from home, awaiting her. So she does what normal people do: plays with friends (including, evidently, a particularly good one now who even cooks as well, we are led to believe as well - if anything, Our Sam is perhaps too innocently eager to reveal her personal life to us), and she even had the misfortune of having her birthday also fall in her available week.

So if you stop to think that the purpose of this forum is for anyone to post questions and comments to Samantha, which she will in fact answer at some point within the week the forum is open, you'll see she does indeed fulfill her promise. We're not going to receive Tuttlesque lengths of responses because there are many of us and one of her, but we register our thoughts, she gets them, perhaps smiles, and tosses back a bon mot or deux. What else would you really think one human being should do for her Public? I'm delighted she does this at all. But it's totally unrealistic to expect Samantha to be doing the equivalent of manning a phone bank 8 hours a day this week. Think of this as a site to exchange comments over a full week's length, while she's also seeing friends, paying bills, perhaps doing voice-over work, buying groceries, downing wine, spending time with significant other, emptying litter boxes, and etc. This is not a Suicide Hotline that requires instant attention. Just be patient, Fan-no-more, and for posters you tire of reading, easily click down right past us (I know I do sometimes). Now I return you to your Saturday a.m. coffee... and hope you'll think more benevolently of a t.v. personality who dares come on-line at all.

Hi Ms Brown. I'm Kelvin from Singapore, which is about half way round the globe, in South East Asia. Have you been to South East Asia? And if time permits, will you be comin to Singapore to promote your shows, just like Floyd, Ian Wright and Anthony Bourdain? And also your shows, "Great Vacation Homes" and "Girl Meets Hawaii", has been shown on Discovery Travel & Adventure. Smile

Hello!!!

Just finished a 4-in-a-row stretch at work...payback for taking a weekend off. As only Murphy would have it, last night was absolutely out of control. Ahhh, this is why I chose emergency work I suppose.

Sam, I hope you've recovered from a celebratory weekend. My grandfather always celebrated things within the octave, so you've either got five more days, seven more weeks, or seven more months to have a good time!

As Tuttle proves that chivalry is not dead, I'd like to add that once upon a time our Sam spent her christmas holiday keeping up with her adoring fans. Truely above and beyond. And not to mention taking time out of her own private life to make a lifetime memory for one fan and her mother. And "not-a-fan" may have also neglected to notice that we are quite capable of entertaining ourselves while we patiently wait for Sam's snippets.

OK off my soapbox...I find that I'm becoming more and more protective of our host, but am perfecting aware that she can fend for herself.

Hey Tuttle...can I be in on the novel?

It looks to be a beautiful day here, although I'm sure even better where ever our Ashley is. How are things in Upstate NY, Mother O? And California, Carol? How about Michigan, South Florida? And anyone else who is inside today. Me, I've got a "to-do" list that will take until May to complete, so I'm off.

Have a wonderful spring day!

You just joined and already are giving up? Granted, I just joined this forum last night, and it does seem to be a real clicque. I don't say that in a bad way, just that I'm a "newbie" and feel a bit like a duck out of water.
However, I am certainly not a quitter, and I was impressed- though I'll be the first to admit I didn't read every single post- at how much Sam does respond and give of herself.
Geesh! Cut the gal a break, will you? She doesn't have to do this at all. And I don't think she needs to "admit" anything.
You, clearly, are expecting too much.

Top of the morning everyone! Im sorry, but I cannot beleive that fan no more would say that. Its a good thing that the capttuttle got to him first, because otherwise i feel that my response wouldn't have been far from rebucca's. I also wanted to say that Im glad Sam hasn't been glued to the forum. She works so hard on the show that she deserves some time off. I mean for pete's sake its her birthday week! Furthermore, we should be honored that she even comes to this forum and interacts with us at all. But enough about the bad, there's not enough time in life to worry about that. South FL is having a beautiful day today. Im headed to the Delray beach area today, I could just see sam having a ball there. Its one of those streets with about 100 boutique stores selling everything from furniture to jewelry to clothes, with excellent resturants, to a beautiful beach. That aside, I hope everyone has a wonderful day and who knows, Sam might be chiming in........... Big GrinAustin Big Grin

Hello Everyone - haven't been able to post much - daughter had a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy and took all our time. Priorities!
If Sam comes back on - Hello again and Happy Belated! If she can't respond to everyone, she should at least READ everything - everyone has been soo eloquent! We totally understand if she can't respond, being busy ourselves! Priorities again!
Sam-fan-no-more - sorry to see your having problems. Sam does respond when she can - have faith!
captuttle - GO IRISH! Our family traces its heritage to the Scottish & Irish depending on who you talk to! Little debate going on here. The other side of the family is traced to the English - regular melting-pot here! It's wonderful to find out where you come from and who you may be related to. Any famous or infamous people for you?
dramaqueen - how's the job search? A little advice - LONG resumes are a killer - stick with one that's 1 or 2 pages long. Don't forget follow up calls and do your research! Used to work for someone high up in a company who actually through away resumes that were more than 2 pages! Then again - sounds like you don't need too much advice. Let us know how you're doing!
mother orange - hey there! Being a Mom you probably know what we went through with the daughter - getting grey hairs early! One thing we didn't quite get - is Sam FROM CNY or did she just go to SU?
Anyone else we missed - Hello and goodday!
Sam - PLEASE have a wonderful time in your new show! Remember - Life's short and you don't have a second chance to re-live the day - spend it wisely with love and respect for everyone but mostly for yourself. You're a terrific host of ANY SHOW and look forward to seeing anything you do!!!!!! Big Grin

MILNEMGAL- Welcome to the forum! Dont feel like a newbie- were really glad to have you here and the welcome wagon just hasnt been on duty to to the massive amount of posts. Its not so much as a clique as we've all just been here for a while and have talked to each other so much. However, if there is a clique, it includes all of the Sam Brown fans who post here, and the second you post, you're in. So welcome to the forum and you are not a duck out of water, but a duck who has come to the right place.
Debandgary- No worrys, and I hope the tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy went well! I actually was wondering where you were, you're usually especially out and about when sam is on, but it sounds like everythings okay so thats good. Hows the disney planning going? Anyway Have a wonderful day, and hopefully sam will be on today or tommarrow so check back. Chicagoboy

Thanks, Chicagoboy! I feel all warm and fuzzy now. Smile I have to say that Sam is the most compelling show host (next to cutie Chuck Woolery)to watch. I was hooked the first time I saw her visiting great homes. (Come to think of it, whatever happened to that show?) She has the most infectuous enthusiasm and sense of fun, and I can see why the guys all love her, because she is just adorable. Anyhow, what's the deal with Great Hotels being cancelled? And is she going to Europe? I know she's busy and may not get back here for awhile.
BTW I love Chicago. I have a friend that lives in Beverly Shores and I go to visit her a couple times a year. Lake Michigan is great.
Thanks for the welcome. I'm dealing with roof repairs today after torrential rains Friday night found a circuitous route.......<sigh> Frown

I would be most proud to be on your refridgerator. when i was a kid my Dad had a strong dislike for refridgerator magnets and was overjoyed when our family's new fridge came with a non-magnetic front. Needless to say my crayon drawings and report cards never had a showing in the kitchen. I was watch Good Eats while I posted!

Your husband is from Derry NH? wicked awesome. I lived there for 12 years before moving to the seacoast. I've been told a lot has changed. The Weathleigh is a small hotel absolutely worth it's high price tag. You feel like you're somewhere deep in Europe-and the food! That was one of my favorite rooms. The list so far is (in no special order)
The Wheatleigh, lenox Ma
Auberge du Soleil,Napa
The Hay Adams, Washington DC
Shutters on the Beach, Santa Monica

gorgeous, gorgeous rooms

thanks for the recipe Big Grin. I'm scared to get a deep fryer-I'll be frying everything then. In London you can get deep fried candy bars, I've even seen a recipe for deep fried twinkies. I know I would just HAVE to experiment with those recipes. I don't think I'm mature enough yet.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT SEND THE CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE CHIP RECIPE!

There are a few items i am absolutely not allowed to keep in my kitchen. 1. Peanut butter 2. chocolate cake and 3. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! I have no restraint when it comes to these above items. On the other hand I have a 1/2 a bag of double chocolate Milanos that have been in my cupboard for almost two weeks now! (a record for sweets in my home) but when it comes to the chocolate chip cookie I lose all control.

Oh MY Gosh! I was just talking about Elaine yesturday to our friend Hampa. Apparently there was an unofficial reunion that I didn't get to go to and was wondering if Elaine was there.

to all my posters Elaine Taglianetti was my best friend in Jr. High and High school. Because she had extremely cool older brothers and an older sister (Margaret) Elaine had a very hip fashion sense and knew all the words to every SQUEEZE and B-52 song. SHE WAS VERY COOL. We shared a love for Pee Wee Herman-his playhouse and his big adventure. "Master Francis is taking a bath now,... well where are you hosing him down."

is there an email address that you don't mind posting. I would love to get in touch with her again. And thanks for taking the time to write this-I believe your name is Wes, am I correct? I remember you from the weathervane days.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in. I would hate to not be able to talk to one of the forum charter members. Y'know i think you're right it has been around two years-geez. Have a great time at NASCAR-are you going to a race in Charlotte? Or up here in North east? My sister is no longer at Speed Sport News and has never been in one of my shows-I won't have it, she'd upstage me in a second Wink

"It was so good. I ate more than half of it. I was starting to feel a little sick but I kept eating it"

Do you realize that THIS makes you the perfect candidate for my job? It's not the enthusiasm, it's not the ability to improvise. when it comes down to it it's all about being able to keep on eating even when it's making you sick. Keep up the good work my little soldier!

Hey Tristen!

Thanks for the Happy Birthday wish. I was walking around that Wednesday and thought "hey! it's my birthday I need to buy myself something really special!" then I realized that when I was in Colorado I bought much too expensive baby pink Ugg-type boots under the excuse that "hey!it's my birthday I deserve something special!" darn, if only i could completely shed my yankee frugality.

The Nine Zero episode is one of my favorites. Luckily with cable if you miss it once, well then there's the 358 other times you'll be able to catch it. take care!
