'coz you are good to uuuussss! Big Grin

Once again, you're showing it by coming online to chat with us fans, and we appreciate you for it.
Where to begin...well, certainly, congratulations on GH's Emmy nominations! A great host is nothing without his or her crew, and Stan, Jerry, and everyone else bring out your best every single day. Here's hoping they get the recognition they deserve at Emmy time, and I have a strong feeling you, Samantha, will hear your own name on nomination day 2005.
While GH going on hiatus is a little sad, seeing the beauty of Europe through your eyes should be a lot of fun. Capttuttle, Mother Orange, et al have given wonderful suggestions on places to visit across the pond, and we know they won't steer ya wrong. I might add, if you ever get homesick for the Big Apple, Madrid, Spain will cure those pangs. Its downtown lights up like Times Square at night, and great shopping and cuisine is just steps away from anywhere (though with the recent bombings, now might understandably not be the best time to visit).
I can see that you have a great rapport with your Beach Week cohosts from the promos; had you ever met them before filming? You guys look like you're having a blast in the little in-show vignettes (which is why I was disappointed when the Beach Week ads our radio stations are running didn't feature any of you; what's up with that?).
And I can't leave without wishing you a happy (belated) birthday! I had a feeling yesterday was the big day, but I wanted to confirm it from others' posts rather than have it not be true and look foolish on this board.
Speaking of which... Roll Eyes(yes, it's a groaner of a segue, but if you can't be cheesy on April Fool's Day, when can you be?) being that today is what it is, can you share any memorable pranks from your TV shows that either you pulled or that were pulled on you? With your mischievous personality, I could see you pulling a fast one on some unsuspecting rube.
Alright, no more rambling. I say simply, good luck at the Emmys and in Europe (and PLEASE open a board devoted to the new show when it begins), and I can't wait for America's Best Beach Hotels tomorrow night and Hawaii's Best Hotels Saturday night! Cool

Hi Sam Sam its Bam Bamm again. Im in a really good mood today. I woke up this morning got alot of work done today. Then took a nice nap (boy I love napping) then went to the gym (I know YUCK). But summer is right around the corner and I have at least (cough cough Confused 10lbs to drop). I had an incredible workout not bad considering I just started working out again on Monday and im still a little sore from that workout. I did 40 minuts of cardio (that nearly killed me I thought, why do I do this to myself). How is getting out of shape so easy and getting into shape so hard? So I began to think to myself im a pretty smart guy. Im college educated (even though my best friends 9 year old girl can spell better than me). I thought, how did inventers come up with there ideas? I think I figured it out they were lazier than me. Smile They saw something that is hard to do, and made some type of gadget to make the task at hand easier. So now I am starting to wonder how come we have so many great inventions but yet nobody has invented an ice cream, pie, cake or candy bar that makes you loose weight in your sleep. Something to think about. I could rule the world Razz if I could come up with that magical weight loosing ingrediant. Well back to my good day. I manage to sqeeze some alone time with Samantha's show Big Grin of coars that should go with out saying. But yet the good day didnt stop there. Low and behold Detroits Beloved Red Wings won the Presidents trophy. The Detroit Pistons are the 3rd seed for the begining of there playoff run. So its a good thing I renewed my Membership at the gym. With the Red Wings and the Pistons both looking good for the playoffs. I can guarantee Ill be spending alot of time with my friends at the local BW3's gorging on wing dings and barley soup (A.K.A. BEER). Big Grin Sam if there is ever a time to come to the Detroit area its to be part of the Red Wing and Pistons playoffs this state really comes alive. Everywhere you go there is fun to be had. Everyone is almost too friendly during this time of the year. Well Sam I hope you had a wonderfull B-day. yesturday. I was also wondering how many Candles I should put on the cake that I plan on eating on your behalf (just kidding). I have a question I would like to ask you and I hope this question is not crossing the boundry. How tall are you? I know you are short like me but seeing you in those beach week shows everyone seems to tower over you. Which I think makes you even more adorable. Like my grandma told me I could put you in my pocket and take you home. Wink. Well anyways I think I talked your ear off enough today. I hope all is well. Take care bye!!!

Eggplant-still going strong
Big M-gone (I never liked it anyway)
Peter's-struggling to survive due to
Wegman's Expanded Super Store! Bulk candy is BIG. Most definitely THE place to hang out and be seen for anyone within a ten mile radius, especially students taking a break from playing poker in the dorms. I recently found out that those kids who should be studying are the ones watching those Poker shows on the Travel Channel.
I am going to try to see Twelfth Night on Saturday at Lemoyne College for $8. Never have seen it but you and Captain Tuttle have convinced me that perhaps I should. And how did Fiona like that soliloquoy at the top of page 3?

I almost forgot to tell you. When I read the "About Samantha" section of this website, I saw that you liked the movie Cinima Pardisio. I have never heard of that movie but thought what the heck ill check it out. Boy I had to go to 3 different video stores to find the video store that had it for me to rent out. Well I sat down with my mom and we watched it. We both liked it. The ending was great but I think the best part was when the guy was a little alter boy. When he and the preist were walking back from that I think was a funeral, and the boy saw his friend riding his bike and he immidiately fell to the ground and grabed his leg like he was hurt just to get out of walking. My mom laughed so hard and pointed her finger at me and said that was you. You were a little shiester just like that, and of coars I had my Sh## grin Big Grin going on when she was acusing me out of all people being a shiester. Big Grin. But needless to say we both had a great time watching that great movie. Thanks for Mentioning that movie in your personal section.

Let's see we have seen you drinking on the show so you must have been 21, unless you are still using that fake ID, so that would make you 22 or 23... wait I'm not supposed to ask a lady her age. We'll go with 22. But I must say that you don't look old enough to drink. I think I will need to see two photo IDs.Razz

Dear Sam,

Those five minute waits for the screen to open were occurring down here yesterday as well, and were indeed Excruciatingly Painful To Watch, but I gather are over now. But today I'm off again to be cheerful and informative guide, though certainly not as caffeinated as your tri-corner hatted friend on the Freedom Trail from Boston (a really attractive episode, by the way), and no silly period uniforms for me; just respectable tweed jackets and tie.

I hear that FerretPossum has been alerted to your bright and slightly older presence on the forum, Sam, and hope you'll be hearing from him. He'd certainly recognize the weather here this morning: dark, gloomy and cool in the Wuthering Heights or D.H.Lawrence tradition. Will be no gorgeous distant views of the Blue Ridge up there today, despite my own *mellifluous* efforts.

As for romantic Dramaqueen (could there be an unromantic dramaqueen?), very kind words, but I'm afraid you'll find that I don't know how to ride a horse, much less a shiny white one. My roots are actually mostly northern Irish, though they're a crowd generally known for their total lack of humor. And I think thanks are due to the ever thoughtful Dejardins for discovering the birthday girl's vital statistic, and although I'm pretty sure she's right-handed, we now need to know if she throws and bats that way as well. And Kelly! You should tell us more about NZ and your favorite South Sea islands. And do you ever think of the old scene in the Simpsons where the vet steps into the waiting room and tells Homer and Marge that Santa's Little Helper's condition has been upgraded to Frisky? Mother O already knows what I'm thinking, so I'll say no more there.

And doe-eyed Samantha, despite being tethered to your pc until you've caught up with us, have a terrific weekend all the same. I'll be up working Sunday as well as today - and a lot of April - and have some fairly crucial bball games to beg and plead over tomorrow, but I'll of course still be peering at this board ridiculously often when I can, as I'm hopelessly and helplessly hooked. But not til tonight. I actually have a cat vs. lilypond question for both you and Kel, but it'll wait now as I have to fly...

P.S., Oh, I also hear that if you guys win your Emmy (and the camera work really is terrific; esp. with handling hotel room mirrors, sometimes even using them to catch you in intriquing poses) then Carmine, like the Simpsons voices, is going to ask for a big raise Razz. The price of success, dear Sam.

Top 'O the Morning,

And a fine Friday it is. Just a brief (honest) pop in. Glad to hear that you'll be with us through the weekend Sam. I'm sure you have tons of activities you would rather pursue in the evenings than spend them typing away on a stubborn computer with network problems. You obviously sense just how much we look forward to these opportunities to commune with our favorite Hotel Goddess.

Last night's performance by Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway was superb. It never ceases to amaze me how when any given instrument is properly played in the hands of an expert, the resulting sound can fill a concert hall without the need for amplification. Sir James only used a microphone to speak to the audience briefly about each selection providing some history about the composer or the piece itself. Loved to listen to him speak with that lilting Irish brogue. And what humor that man has. Just delightful. Two hours were gone in the blink of an eye.

Which brings me to my Captain. How you do make me smile. Do you have some kind of radar that enables you to know that Howard's End is an entry on my all time favorite movies list? Your mental image is pretty well on the mark to describe me. Although the comparison of myself to Vanessa Redgrave takes one from the ridiculous to the sublime. And "resident star?" My, my such lofty status to have been bestowed by you and Mother. I am TRULY not worthy, but will do my best to live up to your expectations. Smile And Yes! I REALLY want to read a chapter of your work! think hard about that generous offer.

So much for short. I'm out of here to spend the day drinking Peet's coffee and walking around Berkeley before tonight's pre-concert lecture.

I'll see everybody tomorrow. My apologies Sam for taking over the thread with my personal agenda. Don't send Carmine after me. I promise to behave. Well at least I'll try to behave. If Carmine does appear, my plan is to appease him by showing the spot already cleared on the fireplace mantle for the much anticipated photo. Big Grin

A Wonderful Weekend to One and All!

I will start by thanking Mother Orange for her lovely email telling me your forum was open again! You truly have the sweetest bunch of fans going and of course I include me in this as I am just as cute as a button right now.

It's great that you are coming to Europe - I do hope they don't work you too hard and you get a chance to enjoy it. Please resist the impulse to go native while in France - I still haven't recovered from Julia Roberts' armpits that time.

Hurrah hurrah to your team on the Emmy nominations. If you could see me now you would note that I am standing and applauding. You would
also note that I am wearing my flannelette pyjama bottoms and a Captain Caveman t-shirt but that's not important right now. I hope you are not too disappointed on not being nominated personally. The fact that a show in which your writing and personality play such a large part was nominated is still a heck of compliment. But if you would like someone to help you toilet-paper the academy member's houses, just let me know.

I'm stunned that you don't have a truckload of awards already, but you do have the regard of an Englishman. Agreed, I won't look nearly as cool on your mantelpiece but I will make a darn handy draught excluder.

Anyway, do have a lovely Emmy evening, take lots of photos, and wear one of those huge frocks that is so flowy you can actually be riding a skateboard underneath without anyone noticing. I hope you win all the awards going, but if not Caro has offered to fashion you an Emmy out of kitchen foil and filled with chocolate.

(Actually wouldn't it be great if they handed out awards in the form of piñatas at these award ceremonies? "And the Oscar for Best Actor goes to Sir Anthony Hopkins! Now let's see how his aim is! Jump, Sir Anthony, jump!!")

With that, I think I had better be off.

Good vibes to all, Symon (& Caro too).

It was your birthday? Was there cake? Did I MISS cake?? Drat!! Well, many happy returns!

Hello Capt. Tuttle! I'm still stunned you remembered me when I posted my hotel recommendation! I hope all's good with yourself and you're all booked in for the big trip! My goodness, do you guys all know each other?

As for Dramaqueen, how's that English accent coming along?? I hope we're talking Renee in "Brigit Jones" here and not Kevin in "Robin Hood". You know, an English accent is a useful thing in the USA. For example, I am actually a very common little man, but when in the US people hear the accent and assume I'm either terribly sophisticated like James Bond or hugely EVIL like Alan Rickman in "Die Hard". Either way I get GREAT service in restaurants.

Right, I really am going now.

missed your birthday, but Happy Birthday wishes on your next.....

so much has been said about how wonderful and charming you are, and all is so true...what a delightful inner spirit you bring to the world.....truly a "God given Gift"....

sounds like at this time in your life you are pretty much the city girl....i myself prefer a bit more casual....birds chirping, squirrels scurrying, and the fresh scent of spring; of course the city (Portland, OR) is only 15 minutes away.....but ya know....a quick trip to big "big apple" does sound kind of exciting.....

heck.....gonna make this real easy for ya.....how's about an invite for a cup of coffee (ok a pot)....i will fly to New York and meet you at any coffee house of your choosing, (never been to n.y).....totally non-threatening.....you could even send in a friend to check me out....i would so, so much like to meet you, even for a moment....best thing ever....(though it would be the most expensive cup of coffee i've ever had)....all ya gotta do is show up....you could give me the inside scoop on the city and all it's attractions, and what better attraction than "Samantha Brown" Big Grin.....need a pic to recognize me, email me one of you (pleeeezzz) so i can send you mine....gware77080@aol.com (one of my addy's)....i can pretty much guess (from reading most of the replies) that it may not be possible, (hmmmmm) but i just had to ask.....at least i gave it a shot....OK ??

and....P.S..........Mrs. Brown..............

So I was trying to figure out a hotel you'd highlighted in Hawaii on this great discovery.com site and realized that I could CHAT with Samantha! Cool. Then I realized that one must be able to figure out how to use this chat thing... I hope it works. Obviously, I am not computer saavy.

In exploring this website, I realized that you write just like a good friend of mine and that you like wine and Barry Manilow. So, I'm thinking we should be friends. If you're ever in southern Ca (Laguna Beach) let me know. We'll have drinks (and sing some classic Manilow).

Hi,

A few years ago, I had a nervous breakdown, lost my career, and was diagnossed with panic disorder. This is not unusual these days, there are millions like me. Everything is fine now, I'm working my way back, on the right meds, everything is cool. My point is that in the worst of it, I could turn on the travel channel, Vacation Homes and Great Hotels took me away. Samantha is so adorable, and cleaver, she was a bright spot in a dark time. I know this sounds corny, but, thanks Sam.

I am now looking to re-enter my field, I am a licensed embalmer, and have apps. out. Right now I'm a shift manager for a large retail liquor store. I guess, one way or another, I was just born to put fluid in people.

Your my hero!

Sam-Thanks for talking me into splurging at spas, once in a lifetime indulgences in my book should be 'once in every vacation' indulgences. I can't wait to hit the Canyon Ranch in Vegas next month and I'm excited since I saw in your Vegas episode that they have a climbing wall. The holds did look pretty large on that outcropping though...hmm, did they switch them up to look better on TV? Just kidding, I think you were doing some actual sweating!

Travel question-Who gets to use all the frequent flier miles? Do they let you have them?? The Travel Channel should just invest in a plane, United is probably selling some cheap...

Let me know how it is going in the search for the perfect Emmy dress, unfortunately I'm not working in NY this weekend so I am missing all the great sample sales like Billion Babes! Avoid black, it's been done to death...

Have a great day,
KMG

Hi Sam,

I really love your show and just had to try and let you know. I read in an interview on the Travel Channel Fansite, that you don't like to hear your own voice. Well, I just love to hear you talk...I could listen to you for hours! You always brighten my day.

Take care,
Francis

p.s. How could an average guy form Georgia get an autographed photo of you?

This is the first time I've written in to a forum online, and what inspired me? While browsing through the Travel Channel for pictures of sunny beaches, I saw that you, Sam were actually on a forum this week. Just thought it would be nice to let you know that I love your show, and find it perfectly suited for "wishful thinking" therapy. My girlfriends from college and I had some great road trips, but now we've either moved away or they're married and taking care of the kids. I often wish for the "good old days" when two or more of us would take off to Palm Springs or Mexico. Of course, we couldn't afford any "Great Hotels" back then, but it was still a blast! You remind me of one of my girlfriends, and believe me, I would be doing exactly the same things you do if I were traveling right now. Great minds think alike! I worked with dolphins for quite a few years, and if you like them as much as I do, you might want to try and find a "Great Hotel" near one of the charter boats that take people out to swim with the wild spotted dolphins in the Bahamas. Actually, don't tell anyone, but I would just use the hotel as an excuse to get out there with those wonderful creatures! I would love to work on a job like yours, and although I do work in your business (on feature films, mostly), the only places they have sent me are north, into the freezing rain and snow, and further north, and then north some more. Never once have I been flown out to work on something filming on a sunny beach! Hence the wishful thinking therapy and the Travel Channel browsing when I should be working on a script breakdown that's due last week. But I couldn't resist the chance discovery that I could send you a message. Just wondering---how many hula lessons have you had? You seem to have caught on to it very well. Anyhow, thanks for the sense of humor and that psychic ability to find free stuff--- you must have the world's finest collection of tiny toiletries, ever!

Hello there Sam! I have been a fan for a while now. I love your show in Savannah at the Marshall House Smile it was so cool to see you in that dining room when I've sat there several times myself. When are you coming back to Savannah? I'm going to school at SCAD now as a Theatre Performance/Tech major. How could I go about getting an autographed picture of you for my Dorm room wall??? I watch you ever morning before I go to class so thanks for making my mornings something to look forward to Smile Wink

Hi Sam,
My computer was super slow yesterday too! I wanted to reply more, but my computer was too slow so I couldn't.Frown Personally I think all computers hate me. I am enjoying the warmer weather here in Michigan. It's supposed to get colder(say it ain't so), I'm praying for warm weather for my birthday coming up! I'll be 23. You're the same age aren't you Sam.Wink How did your birthday go Sam? I hope you had the best time!Big Grin I know you have tons of pictures to send out, but I wondered if I could have a picture of you too?Confused My email is: dramaqueen102@yahoo.com. I don't know how tall you are, either Sam, but I think anyone on this forum would be taller than me. I'm only 5ft. 0.5in. tall. Yep, I'm a shortie. So I need me a tall man(okay now I'm using southern t****, not as good as my English accent). Sam your attitude & personality absolutely bring the show alive!
