(This was originally posted by Samantha... but didn't make this morning's release):

From Sam:

Let me just say how ecstatic the entire crew is to have received four
Emmy nominations! Yahooooooo!

Stan the cameraman absolutely deserves the award.

With one camera Stan makes it look like a three camera show and in
lighting a scene he does it with only one camera light and a reflector
and still the show is visually beautiful.

As for people who are disappointed by myself not being nominated, the category I'm eligible
for is for Service show Host. Really, when you think about it-What
service do I provide? How to jump on beds? How to truly enjoy a spa treatment?

The Hosts nominated truly contribute a service. Thanks to all who
sent their congratulations and we'll certainly keep you posted on the
outcome.

GO GREAT HOTELS!

Alright Sam - What's the scoop? IS Great Hotels Ending, for now or for good? Are you doing a European Based show? Will the new show air on the Travel Channel? What is the new show about?
Are you or the Powers that be going to start up a new forum for the new show, if so, where do we post? When will the Great Hotels end and when will the new show start? Many of us want to know! We know that there are a lot of questions here, but all of us are such HUGE fans of your work that we don't want to miss you. You have a way of talking to the "little people" that is missing in a lot of the shows on TV today!
Keep up the good work and LET US KNOW!!!!

Dear Sam,
Really liking the new episodes; I think I've caught them all so farSmile. I can really relate to your Wva driving experience at The Greenbriar! I grew up in the mountains of Wva, and actually have driven on roads like that! It can get really rough in the winter as well. I still like the Hotel Del Coronado espisode; and watch it over when it comes on. It is such a beautiful Hotel. It must have felt amazing to surf? I've never done, and God knows, I am in no shape to do it. I still like to watch the episodes of your visits to Hawaii. How amazing that must feel to visit there...and my favorite, Dolphins. That is my dream to swim with them, or interact someday with them in the water. You are so lucky! Have you seen the movie "Blue Crush"? A lot of nice footage of the Hawaiian surf, plus a good movie. Hope you are doing well; the weather is breaking up here in Western Md. It has been one long winter! It is nice to Watch "Great Hotels" to take a trip, and never leave the couchSmile. Welcome Back Indeed Sam!

It's S-O-O-O good that you make yourself available for these little chats with the likes of us mortals. I have more questions than time, so I'll start the thread with these.

1. How did you Mom like Hawaii and what kinds of activities did the two of you do? Any shopping forays perhaps?

2. You MUST know that your legion of fans are most curious about the new venture you will be undertaking across the Atlantic. The answers provided by Rick Rodriguez regarding the article from the paper in Jacksonville, FL gave a little insight but perhaps you could flesh out a few more details. If you are at liberty to say.

I think I can safely speak for all of us when I say we are genuinely thrilled for this opportunity for you to spread your wings. It will be fun to see you in a new environment and altered format from that which we are familiar. At the same time, the thought of no new episodes of Great Hotels at the end of this season is a little disheartening.

3. Did you ever fire up the crockpot you got, and if so, what did you fix in it?

Unfortunately, it's time for me to get ready for work. I half considered calling in sick when mod_kelly put up the post that you would be here starting on Monday. I'm trying to act like an adult but it's tough.

I hope AshleyKristin will get the chance to join in before she leaves for a little R & R in Hawaii. And Kelly, sure hope you make it back from your reunion in time. Capttuttle - don't be shy or reluctant to share your views. They will always find an appreciative audience here.

See you after work. And once again Sam, CONGRATULATIONS!

Ah, Ms. Brown! We've been of course expecting you, and, as ever, I find a compelling desire to write. But now it seems we also have news (and you know how we love news). So it's Europe at last, is it, and congratulations on becoming a Foreign Correspondent. I very much look forward to seeing you cavort about the Old World, and to hear it presented in your own, shall we say, unique... um, idiom, with your ebulliently and seemingly effortless manner that has more than a hint of lilting and felicitous poetry we so admire. Some of us (moi?) may not have behaved as we should have in your absence, trying to pry information from Dr. Kel about her famous Tea, but then you callously left us all here to freeze for the entire winter Wink, and Lord of the Flies-esque uprisings were bound to occur in those unhappy Samless circumstances.

But also last time you mentioned having played Viola in college, and I'm forever curious as to what it's like to play a major Shakespearean role upon the stage, and have always deeply admired any actor's ability to recite sheaves of blank verse verbatim, much less to present them effectively. So I'd love to hear, Sam, any strong impression or recollection you might want to share from your old Twelfth Night experiences. (The Globe in London this summer is in fact doing Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado, and Measure For Measure for those who might be passing through. A subtle hint, you see.)

And as for Shakespearean actors - I only heard this recently - one of your apparent favorites, Alan Rickman, was actually up on the Little Mountain here as a humble tourist the day after Christmas, while you were gleefully plugging in your shiny new crockpot with visions of "stew du lapin au vin rouge avec creamed corn" (cat hair optional) dancing in your head. I did get to do a tour for A Prominent On-Air Personality from ESPN last month and great fun it was, but, sports fan that I am, I'd still have traded five of him for one tour for Alan Rickman.

And how can I post here without weighing in about Costanoa? (By the way, great to read you again, Carol the Hummingbirdlady, and aren't you up early today?). I finally saw it on second airing, and thought it was charming in concept, appearance, and of course in your frisky presentation. I'd have loved a billowing Arab bedouin tent myself had there been such a thing. What a wonderful break from reality for its guests (as long as it isn't raining). Nice to see in your Chatham Bars doorknocker sequence that you still remember Young Frankenstein lines as well (my favorite is Gene Hackman's "You must have been the biggest one in your class"). Looks like Grove Park Inn and the gracious old hotels at Yosemite, Glacier and Yellowstone may never get their chance to embrace you. Oh well. Their loss. Some later day, perhaps. You have Alps, the Riviera, the Loire Valley and Newcastle Brown Ale Brewery to see now. How exciting.

But for now, welcome back, Sam, and I hope you're having a wonderfully gentle and restorative return before you seek even broader horizons beyond. Looks like I may have to resurrect those pleas for you to watch Charade (for Paris, naturally on AMC again tonight as it happens) and Local Hero (for northern Scotland - Mother Orange has actually made a pilgrimage to that village, so she can tell you far more about it than I). And may you discover your own Cinema Paradisio this coming year. So is this my longest deranged post yet? (sorry; a New Year's resolution was to send fewer posts to you... but not necessarily shorter ones). But Shakespeare; tell us about your time with Shakespeare... Oh, and if I may say so without shedding all my remaining dignity, I thought you were never lovelier, Samantha, than at Half Moon Bay.

Hello from Disney, Sam! I'm working at the Yacht & Beach Club and I am loving it! I'm also spreading the joy of Samantha Brown to all my friends here. I'm even getting teased for it! I've gotten one friend addicted to you, he says that you are "fabulous"!

My job here is going great, I got to work in bell services for awhile and now I'm at the front desk. I'll probably even get to work in concierge at some point, which is pretty much my dream job. My hotel is awesome and my job is awesome. I work with Art, he knows my name and everything! That was one of the most exciting moments to me, I almost cried. And when I showed my friends the GH episode on Yacht & Beach, I was squealing and screaming so much that I think they got annoyed at me. Oh well, their fault. My friend who thinks you're fabulous and I have another date soon to watch more of your episodes, I keep talking up the fabulousness that is Hotel Hershey and he's very excited about it.

So when are you getting back down to Disney? Any time soon? We need you here soon, there's so much you haven't done! And when you get here, I'll buy you a cookie. And a Wonka bar.

Hello Sam, so nice to have you back...

Thank you for the classy autographed pic. I love the pose and the hint of mischief in your eyes. The time you spent mailing out each photo is as much a gift as the photo itself.

I enjoy each episode of Great Hotels, some more than others, and your "Fisher Island" piece had me laughing out loud. I instantly smile when I see you hop on a golf cart. You seemed to be having a lot of fun with that one. You have grown into the character of "the Traveller" and you wear it well.

Thanks for the tip about "Good Eats" with Alton Brown! I am hooked on that show. I will have you know that I have select episodes of "Great Hotels" and "Good Eats" on DVD-R and I am thinking of calling it "Living Large with the Browns" Whatcha think?

On a personal note, your autographed photo will be following me to Fort Myers, Florida in early April as I am leaving the Buckeye state due to a job transfer. I was chosen for the transfer because I am single and because of my years of experience as a goldsmith. Next time you do a show about a great hotel in Southwest Florida stop by and I will clean your jewelry for free.

I hope you have a wonderful week at home...

your adoring fan...Tony

I deluded myself into thinking if I got up early enough, I'd have a crack at first posting! But I couldn't break the tape before the early rising east coast crowd. Yawning and rubbing my eyes has taken up most of the last 30 minutes but I felt that I couldn't miss the Hotel Del Coronado episode this morning. Plus there's that annoying daily ritual called "work". Mornings are hard!
Hello there Sam! Smile As someone who didn't fully discover Great Hotels until the summer of 2003, and who didn't begin to participate in the forums until right after you left at the end of December, I'm one of the newbies who's feeling like he came in a day short and a dollar behind. Becoming a fan of the show and your omnipresent spunky demeanor didn't take long! I've taken the opportunity to make a post here and a post there...but after perusing the logs of past sessions that you've spent here on the boards, I have been eagerly awaiting my turn to join in.
Are we to understand that you only have 1 week off after a grueling 3 months on the road?? Poor girl! What are the chances that a foot-stomping, kicking and screaming on the floor, tearbound temper tantrum would get you a well deserved extra week? If anyone could pull that off, it has to be you! Wink For the sake of argument let's pretend this approach wouldn't work...where are you off to next?
I've been stopped in my tracks by this morning's Nine Zero/Wheatleigh episode, and I don't want to miss the Hotel Del Coronodo visit next (which I thought I was soooo smart to recommend before I found out you were there about a year and a half ago). I'll be watching the boards throughout the morning! Ciao Sam!

Samantha, our fearless leader, I'm sure I speak for most if not all when I say we are glad that you're home safe and sound, don't know about the others, but I do worry(a little bit)when you're out and about. I had to push back my film a little, I'll be shooting in the middle of April, and the way rehearsals are going, you just might see my name at the Oscar's next year.
Again, I am happy that you are home, enjoy your "time off". It's probably to late, but if you get the time, I hate to even ask, may I humbly request a signed pic(of you).
Thank you for your patience and valuable time.

How exciting for you to get the opportunity for the European show!!!
I caught up on the news here last week, and of course have the same questions
as everyone else. I know you will do a great job as before. I especially enjoyed
the new season shows from New England and thought I detected some Young Frankenstein humor in one show, are you a Gene Wilder / Mel Brooks fan?
Thanks for communicating with us fans. With Great Hotels I always feel like I’m traveling with an old friend on a mini vacation, so the shows are a highlight of the
week.
Keep up the great work and best wishes for continued success in your career.

P.S.
Any chance for a Great Hotels DVD or VHS set being made available,
or possibly scheduling the show in prime time???....Its much better than Poker.

Hi Sam,
Nice to internet-meet you, it must be such a riot to come to your message boards and see thousands and thousands of users/readers all looking to interact with you. Scary.. ; ]
Anyway, I have a question for you on Hotel Spas. Spas are the best part of the hotel in my opinion, and I'm wondering if any of the spas you have visited has stood out to you as the best ever. I would have thought twice about that oil-drip thing you were getting at some place I can't remember..but let me know if you had a favorite. If you are a spa fan, don't know if you've been there but the Snake River Lodge place in Jackson Hole has the best spa in the world..
Hope to talk to you again soon,
Kathleen

8:55AM. 75 degrees and rising. Absolutely clear azure blue sky. I wish it could have been like this during the taping of the Hotel Del show. That gray soupy marine layer can be a pest when you least expect it!

How are you doing these days? Worn out from all those hotels yet? I have to say my favorite episodes so far have to be: 1) Williamsburg Inn, 2) The Hershey Hotel, 3.) Hotel Monaco-in Chicago. I don't have a lot of money to travel, so in a way I'm traveling with you through the TV. I'm sorry to hear that the Great Hotels series is going to end! Before it does, do you think you're have the chance to visit the Grand Hotel, on Mackinac Island? I researched some other hotels in the area, and all around Michigan. The last time you were up there for Great Vacation Homes, did you get to taste the famous Mackinac Island fudge? Great Hotels is one of my favorite TV shows, & I'm going to be sad to see it go! However, I will look forward to your new show! When is your birthday Sam? No you don't have to say the year. Do you have a P.O. Box? I'm just asking, because I bet you would love to get birthday cards from your fans! I've been watching your show for a few years now, but I just registered in January, so I just missed you the last time you were on here. How long have you lived in NYC? I was there back in 1997. I'm afraid of heights, but I went to the top of the World Trade Center. I looked over NYC at night, & it was beautiful! I'm glad I had that chance! You make everyone feel like they could be your best friend! Big Grin I know I feel that way, because I'm just like you. Smile How many pets do you have? What are their names? I have 2 cats named (guess) Samantha (she's 15) & Allie (she's 2). I also have 2 dogs named Sandy & Cookie. Sandy & Cookie are sisters, & they're 9 yrs. old but haven't slowed down a bit. I was wondering about your pets, because you mentioned your cat Fiona at one time. I won't ask too many questions, because you have so many fans to get to yet. I don't know about you, but I'm glad Spring is here! Winter was tooooooo cold!!!!! Plus my birthday is on April 14th (the famous day for Titanic striking the iceberg). Speaking of birthdays, could I have a picture of you? My real name is Tiffany. You can reach me at dramaqueen102@yahoo.com. I hope you are having a wonderful time traveling the world, I hope your parents & friends are well, & I hope your pets are doing well too. Thank you for entertaining us, being our traveling buddy, and being our friend & answering our questions even though you don't know many of us! Have a wondeful Spring, and an even better Summer! Thanks Sam, and God Bless! Big Grin Smile Cool Wink

1. Great Hotels- Season 3-- we've heard that they will run new eps thru June--Other than Hawaii which are starting to air in April- what other destinations/hotels will be coming up to finish Season 3?

2. Are you sad to see the end of Great Hotels after Season 3? Do you think they will bring it back for future seasons after you try out your new Europe show?

3. We've been informed that you'll start filming in the summer- there will be like 30 first season eps- of Sam Brown's European Adventure. that they are 30 mins and that there will be a primetime probably 1 hour special as well. What will this show be like? Do you know any of the destinations yet? Is it similar to Girl Meets Hawaii where the accomadations aren't the focus but the adventure and the city itself more the focus?

4. Will there be any European Great Hotels eps in the future, do you think? kinda like how they gave us some hawaiian ones for the various Great Hotels seasons.

5. Any other new shows or new news ahead on the horizon?

6. any news of your shows being put on dvd?

7. any news on the coffee table book that you said you might consider?

In any case- thanks for being you and no matter where you travel or what you do- we will be there watching- and enjoying your wit and charm and fun personality. Thanks again.

Hello and welcome back sam! I hope you had a wonderful time in Hawaii- Halekulani is undoubtibly one of my favorite hotels on earth, so I hope you enjoyed it too. Also, I wanted to thank you for the autographed pic and let you know that I and all of us truly appriciate the things you do for your fans. It means alot to all of us, and there's nothing like yourself to clear up a dark and dreary day in south FL. Speaking of Florida, beach week is fun already. I caught the three shows yesterday, and they were all enjoyable. Infact yesterday evening I found myself searching for a dressing to top the cucumber pasta thing. Its so interesting how something so simple can be so refreshing and satisfying. I dont know how you keep yourself in shape sam, I would blow up like a balloon if I were to eat some of the things you've eaten on the GH shows. In other news, congrats on the europe show! Will it be like girl meets hawaii showcase wise featuring hotels but focusing on the destination or something else? You've probabily been there before but just in case may I reccomend the lovely One Aldywch hotel in london and the Plaza Athnee in paris? Truly exquisite hotels in world class cities. Speaking of cities, and insider info on the locations of the newshow's first season? You must be so excited, and Im sure you'll find it a lovely change of pace if you havent finnished shooting yet.Have a great afternoon and I'll post again this evening, Austin

great hotels question- has there ever been a great hotel that you went to film at and it wasn't at all what you thought and you didn't like it or had a bad experience at? What did you do? Did you tape anyway just focusing on the good? or did you can the place and didn't put it in the show?

Was there ever a hotel you wanted to film at but they wouldn't let you?

Any particular hotels that you hadn't gotten to but wanted to if the show lasted longer?

who has a say in where you go and what you do?

When I retired from the Navy my wife and I decided we wanted to see America. When we found you it was like finding a tour guide with (basically) the same way of looking at travel. And now you are going to Europe!!!! This can't be there is still a lot of the U.S. yet to see. If you must go I am sure the other hosts on the Travel Channel are adequate (if they were as good as you I could probably remember their names) but THEY ARE NO SAMANTHA BROWN!!!!!!!!!!! If you must go though there was a couple of really nice little hotels in Sigonella, Sicily, it has been about 10 years, but they were very nice.

My wife wanted me to ask you "How do you keep your figure? With all the great foor we see you eating you should be much larger".

I would like to know how do I go about getting an autographed photo? My email is: RSCAMPB@HOTMAIL.COM

Was I way off about the chronology the Hotel Del show or what? I should know better by now! I've learned to estimate the season I'm watching by Sam's hairstyle and length, and since she had long hair during that episode, determining the season as #3 should have been a piece of cake. My guess is....hmmmm...last May or June?

Welcome back! I promised myself not to address you on the day upon your return as I feel the newcomers should take part in this wonderful opportunity to speak with you and I should step aside for the moment. However, I will be leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and wanted to write to you before I leave. So, how have you been? I have been enjoying all of your new episodes and especially enjoyed the kick off of Beach Week last night. It seems the four of you guys had a fun time hosting the event! The show is making me anxious to be on the beach and away from the cool New York breezes. On a separate note, I was thrilled to hear you and Kelly met up at the St. Regis. It truly shows your class! It was also nice knowing that you were checking in on our thread silently that week to see what was new.
I applaud you and your crew on your four Emmy nominations! I couldn't leave without acknowledging this huge accomplishment! While on this subject, I would really love to attend the show to support you and your crew and will be trying to purchase tickets (if availible). I will be testing for second degree black belt on May 13, and will be treating myself to this evening. I don't know if I will have much luck in getting tickets, however. I am sure there is a long line already forming. Frown Anyway, I will defenitely be trying to get there even if just to stand outside. Wish me luck!!
Hopefully, I will be hearing from you within the next few days. If not, I'll be saying a quick goodbye before I leave. Speak with you soon! Take care, Sam!

Mother and Father Orange are overjoyed about this new opportunity to follow your dreams! You and your multiple Emmy-deserving team of road warriors could surely use a change of scenery and focus. I know it will be tough, Samantha, but now you must desist from showing us how to ogle lobby interiors, tubs, upholstery fabric, marble countertops, and trays of toiletries. DO show us how to seize the day and explore our world. Show us what the folks in Europe love to eat and drink (fine chocolates and wines await you, for sure) Show us what they do for fun and what they think about. There is no more important time than now to improve our understanding and appreciation of others on this planet. There is no better person to do this work than you, Ambassador Brown.
And what news and gossip can I share of Syracuse? Hmmm. Taye Diggs came back to do a workshop for the drama students. (I think he was of your era)
There will be a woman's head under the silly orange chancellor's hat come August. Applications for admission are up a whoppin' 35% this year. It seems that folks know about the championship basketball team but are clueless about the horrifying winters. I am happy to report that through these past dreary months, I had the jovial e-support of Captain Tuttle, and his marvelous 15 chapter novel to read and discuss, as well! As you can imagine, we have had a jolly good time e-chatting about England and all sorts of topics. The novel is all I expected it to be and more, a fascinating, multi-layered masterpiece full of his trademark adjectives, clever humor, and vivid descriptions. I only had to go scrambling for the dictionary a few times. I sincerely hope he can get it published some day.
I also hope mod kelly will be opening a new section on the fansite for "European Adventures", as you can bet Mother O. is full of travel ideas for you to ponder. As for my own recent travel experiences, they will NOT make you envious this time around. In late January, I journeyed to Home Depot to purchase a 21 foot roof rake, needed to remove a record-breaking snow accumulation once water started dripping through my ceiling. In February, I survived a precarious trip to the Rescue Mission Garage to donate my severely dented and dying mini-van, held together at the windows with duct tape, totalled by collision with a telephone pole on a slick and snowy hill. My son cleverly avoided injury to himself and others, so I actually saw this as a good thing, while cursing the winter under my breath. (I tell you these tales of woe so you can fully appreciate that Hawaii time, even though they may have made you hit some golf balls) Finally, on this very day, it was sunny and gorgeous. After work, I drove to campus to buy Bobby McFerrin concert tickets and on the way home drove through Thornden Park and up to the water tower. The potholes reminded me of Kilauea Crater, but the basketballs were bouncing, the kites and frisbees were trying to fly, and the dog-walkers were smiling in their short sleeves. The view of the vale of Onondaga looked pretty darned good. It's the best view there is in my neighborhood, except on the T.V. when Great Hotels is on and you are pointing one out. I'm sure those shows will rerun forever, so I am not worried. We do love them so.
I suppose I should ask a question or something, though I think we all know too much about you already. I caught the end of the "Best of Hawaii" special this afternoon with the new segments (I think) and I see that you got to Haleiwa and heeded my December warning to stay away from the Banzai Pipeline and the rip tides. But tell me, did you and your Mom get a shave ice at Matsumoto's? And did she have a nice time? That's enough rambling for now. I think I have exceeded Capt. Tuttle's length. Take care of yourself, Sam. I mean it.

While seething over your exclusion from the nominees of Service Show Host, I also considered the fact the chosen hosts “do something”, but I decided, what the hell, some cook, others give financial advice, you travel and, if I may say so, do a damn good job at showing us how it should be done. So I’m still a bit ticked off.

Being a longtime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, I was amazed to see at the end of the Greenbrier episode, a thank you acknowledgement to someone named Lynn Swann. Now the Hall of Fame Pittsburgh receiver doesn’t have the most common of names so I can’t believe there is someone else by that moniker lurking out there. Do you remember who this was and the circumstances of their involvement with the episode?

I am sure you are looking forward to your new European venture. No need to warn the Old World of your impending arrival as I’m sure you will charm them as much as you have most everyone over on this side of the pond (and Lord knows we could use all the good will ambassadors we can get over there).

That’s all for now. I’ve made a note to shout at you on Wednesday though for the life of me and I can’t remember why… Wink

Take care.

I was going to talk to you guys tonight after I got home from my friends performance. Instead I joined her and the cast for a few beers and some hot wings. A meal I absolutely relish now that bikini's are but a distant memory Big Grin Anyway, I got home much later than I anticipated but wanted you to know that I will be answering all that posted today-tomorrow. talk to you soon!

If you reeeeeeally want to put thoughts of bikinis even further behind you, I could post a recipe for the most succulent boneless hot wings I've ever tasted, a bleu cheese dipping sauce that's custom made for them, and a 16 spice dipping sauce for fries that will drop you to your knees from sheer bliss. Wink Beer optional.

HelloOOOOOOoooooooooo........forgot about this

again, I thank you Sam.....you are such a delight in so, soooooo many ways......able to "talk-type" to Sam.....(thank you internet).....So I have something I want to share with those here....Nothing to do with "Great Hotels"....But I thought is was really cute and original....This came from one of her episodes on "Great Vacation Homes".....Bet you didn't know that our "sweet little Sam" is quite the poet....She wrote this way back in 4th grade and also won 1st place in some poet contest....4th grade mind you!!!......A Poem about........

"NOAH'S ARK"

Well they said that God had told him, to build a very big boat

One that was very sturdy, and make sure that it will float

Well, Noah got every animal, and it was bigger than any zoo

and when the day was over, he had loaded them in, 2 by 2

So God said to old Noah,

Noah, I'm going to make it rain 40 days and nights

so keep the animals nice and tame
and make sure that door is locked up tight

Well, finally the 40 days had ended of the sorrow and the pain

and God came out briefly and said "OK I'll stop the rain"

but there's one thing I have to tell you

as the animals leaned back and paused

while I was getting rid of all the evil people

I forgot about good ole "jaws" Eek Eek

Pretty cool, isn't it...... Cool Cool

Hey Samantha, welcome back to the tri-state area. I can't believe you just got back, and you'll soon be off to Europe. I definitely think you're contributing the valuable service of providing happiness to all the lucky viewers who get to watch you, and therefore should've been nominated for an Emmy!: ) I was hoping you'd be traveling to hotels in the Caribbean, instead of Europe because you never got to do a show about one of my favorites, the Atlantis on Paradise Island. Some pics from my last trip there are at http://www.hometown.aol.com/ttsubmariner/atlantis2002.html Check them out if you get a chance. When will your new show start airing? I can't wait to see how much you enjoy all that Europe has to offer. The only downside is no more bikinis.lol I still don't know how you kept such a great figure with all those yummy desserts you got to eat. Were you in a sorority while at S.U.? I was a brother in Kappa Delta Rho while I was up there, our house was right down the block from Dellplain Hall. Was Gerry Clark running the Drama department while you were there? I'd love an autographed pic, if you have the time before you're off to Europe. My email address is chris7144@yahoo.com If you're ever in the mood to catch a musical, a play, or even the opera while in NYC, and you have no one to go with, (yeah, like that's going to happen, lol) drop me a line. Wink Thanks for making the Travel Channel so enjoyable to watch. Smile

I live on the island of Oahu on Hawaii, and I especially like watching the shows you do here in the islands! There's two burning questions I've always wanted to ask you -- 1) when you film the little scenes where you are lounging in a bubble bath, are you actually nude beneath all those bubbles? Of course, I understand if you don't want to answer that if it's too personal. And 2) where's your favorite place to vacation in Hawaii?

And may I have an autographed picture of you? My email is <odysseus_54@hotmail.com>. Mahalo nui loa, and happy beach week!

Good Grief Sam, you're REALLY going to be playing catch-up when you make it to the forum. Better do some finger flexing and other ergonomic excercises in preparation.

I forgot to say in yesterday's entry that I think the photo of you (number 4 titled A Sunny Personality) on the Great Hotels page about the Beach Week 2004 Preview is STUNNING! When you write that expose' about travel and staying in Great Hotels, you should use that picture on the jacket cover. Seriously! All the pictures are good. How can one take a bad picture when the subject matter is that fabulous. Wink I also love, love, love the white off the shoulder top. It drapes as if it is composed of gauze-like material. If it's one brought to you by your stylist, buy it! Club Monaco or Theory?

I also want to say how appreciative I am that the close of Season 3 featured smaller more intimate inns on the East Coast. I just loved the Wauwinet and Chatham Bars Inn. Both have been added to my list of places to stay as part of my dream itinerary for our 20th Anniversary next year. Notice I said dream.

Time to go work in the yard a bit before leaving for that lovely daily commute. Big Grin Gardening is a terrific way to relieve stress.

Take Care Sam,
Carol

P.S.'s

Ashley - Enjoy Hawaii and I look forward to hearing about your trip when you return. We'll miss you here, but I don't think you'll miss us there.

Captain Tuttle - I am an early riser by nature. When I am fortunate enough to be staying in Carmel or elsewhere along the coast, You can usually find me taking long walks at sun-up. Watching the sunset on the white sands of Carmel Beach is an activity best shared with my husband. I'm still available to show you the sights should you ever decide to come West to visit your professor friend at Santa Clara. Smile

MOther O - If pictures could be transported across this magical medium, mine would look green with envy of your ability to read the Captain's novel. Guess I'll just have to be patient and await it's eventual publication. Work on him will you?

SAMANTHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is so good to have you back online. In January I went to San Antonio Texas to visit my friends out there (they are huge fans of the show I found out) but we couldn't figure out what hotel you stayed on at the Riverwalk...I had seen the episode a while ago and could not remember, oh well I still had a blast. CONGRATULATIONS on the Emmy's that most be so exciting. I can see how you were all nominated the show is AWESOME!!!! Not to bug you too much (with everything going on) but I was wondering if you could send me a picture, my e-mail is PVPanther2003@aol.com. That wouls mean so much to me. During April 3-11 my sister and I are going to Disneyland (I've been there before but its so awesome every time) and I can't wait, I wish we were staying at a Great HotelSmile but my Aunt lives there so not this time; but hopefully during the summer. Well I will let you move on to the next post, it's nice having you back and again congratulations on the Emmys. Hope to hear from you soon.

I've always thought Stan's work was really incredible...not to mention your patience and the editing needed to make it all look seamless. He should receive a special award for his subtle uses of graduated filters alone. Definitely deserves it. Way to go Stan!

oh sooooo many questions!

We have just finished shooting the last episodes of Great Hotels (just for this season-it ain't over) Then, I have some big meetings ahead to determine what we we'll be doing next. The only thing I can tell you so far is it's not Great Hotels and it's not in America. No matter what we do it will have a special forum so we can talk about it. all will be revealed very very soon. I'm doing well thanks for asking. I really enjoyed season three because we got to do some of the hotels I've been wanting to since we began the show like The Greenbrier and The Homestead as well as visit the state of West Virginia. In the first two seasons we concentrated on the big vacation destinations-California, New York and Florida. So it was a real pleasure to be in the mountains and during fall no less. take care

My mom had a blast! thank you for asking. I had her staying with me for 10 days thinking that would be enough. On the 7th day she asked me if she could stay the full three weeks. Her job said they didn't want to see her back until she knew how to Hula! She mainly hung out with us while we shot the show. She would keep asking me if I needed water, or if she could get me breakfast. I was like "MOM! if you don't start acting like a tropical goddess on vacation I'm sending you back to Pennsylvania!" The only job I gave her was to finish all the tropical cocktails I have during the bar, restuarant and pool scenes. sometimes we had her liquored up before noon. Big Grin

what is this article you are talking about in the Jacksonville paper?

I'll ask my producers what i am at liberty to say because nothing is definate and I'm superstitious about these things

The article that Hummingbirdlady is referring has a link which was posted in the Great Hotels forum. Since your fingers are frantically flying from trying to catch up with the fairly daunting number of posts, I thought I'd track it down for you.

My perants and I were visiting Las Vegas on our way to the seattle mariners spring training and got to see the inside of the belagio and the mirage hotels. I told my perants all about you visiting those hotels. You should do a show or two in Seattle, Washington (I call it the little apple).

oh my wonderful Captuttle

don't stick to any New Year's resolutions that I wouldn't want you to keep I thouroughly enjoy your posts and love it even more when you swear it's your last but can't resist just one more.

Playing Viola was my absolute favorite role. Although as a seventeen year old I played Agnes Gooch in the muscial MAME for my high school and relished in the fact that my character's out of wedlock pregnancy sparked a school and parent controversy. But back to Shakespeare. It's a wonderful experience when you get to spend months with one of his plays and realize that the words only become richer with each reading. I had such an intimacy with the text and loved it so much that I would read the play before each performance and then sneak to the back of the audience during the show to watch the scenes I wasn't in. (pause while i answer my phone)

what a coincidence! The gentleman who played Malvolio just called me-I haven't talked to him in over a year. And we both agreed that Twelfth Night was our best College experience.

thanks for letting me reminisce Smile

well it sounds like you have found your paradise. My hats off to you-I've been to Disney so much and know how busy every part of it is. It takes a special person to be able to keep their cool. Thanks for getting another person hooked on the show!

I'm glad you liked that episode. The people kept going on about how exclusive the island is and all the famous people that live there and I was like "big deal-where's that free golf cart?" I would go on little drives every night and loved the fact that there were little parking lots especially for the carts. Grocery shopping was a hoot.
