Why on earth would the Travel Channel decide to have a British guy host what is suppose to be
an informative show about popular tourist destinations in the United States? Wouldn't it make more sense having a host who's actually familiar with this country's geography/history? Instead, we're treated to a guy who's unfamiliar with this country's hertitage, regurgitating fun facts and tid bits easily found on Wikipedia? Gangsters gags about Chicago? How timely. It's insulting.

Oh come on.....This guy has been all over the world! Haven't you ever seen "Lonely Planet" or "GlobeTrekker?"
What is wrong with someone British taking a look at the United States through his view? It's called the "Wright" way, not the "right" way. Nor does it follow that if the host was a U.S. citizen that the show would be any more "valid" per se.
You argument makes no sense and frankly, if this is the worst thing you have to complain about? You have it pretty good. Change the channel if you don't like it.

Why anyone wouldn't enjoy Ian Wright is beyond me! He is hilarious and always puts that touch of humor in everything he does! I have watched him for years on Globe Trekker and I sure hope this show is just as entertaining! You rock, Ian!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVE Ian Wright! IMO, who better to really dig into our culture. He likes to have fun and probably knows more about our country than most native born Americans do. So many of us take the US for granted, if it takes a man from Great Britian to open our eyes about where we live so be it. I thought it a little strange at first but given who this man is and how much he knows and who he knows and the way he researches places he tours, he'd be my pick to represent a tour of the US. Knowlegable and entertaining. I'd rather see him than someone like Beckham representing the US.

Ian is a breath of fresh air on this channel.
He pioneered travel hosting and he does it best; loved the Nashville segment! More please!

thats silly. you'd have to be out of your mind to criticize Ian Wright on a travel forum. clearly, this fool is such, as he believes that you have to be an American, to travel America.

I'd be willing to bet my 5th Grader knows more about some of the American cities featured on the show than this imported TWIT. He didn't even realize Chicago had burnt down FCS!! Get past the whimsical accent, quit pandering to him like he's some kind of travel God and listen to the actual content... LAME!!

I'm with all the Ian lovers. I think he is hilarious! I've been watching him on Globetrekker forever. So I'm thrilled that the Travel Channel put him on a new show.

I agree, I was shocked and insulted to hear such a negative report about SeaWorld, when they do so many good things for this area like saving sea turtles and other endangered sealife for many, many years. Also, that comment about the Miami Dolphins? He should be punted over the goalpost for that one. He could learn a thing or two from Samantha Brown. I'll be sure and miss this show next time....Bad call Travel Channel...

Sorry, but Ian is a smug little twit who doesn't do his research - at least for this show on American cities. His Chicago show was a travesty; so much was the same old pap and stereotypes and he got so, so much wrong. He missed a whole lot and he was at times insulting. I can only imagine how residents in all the other cities he's visited must feel about their cities have been presented by him. He's lost the subtleties he showed on Globe Trekker and has gone over the top in his silliness.
I also have to respond to the post by "munizera" that Ian "pioneered travel hosting". He wasn't the first - there have been dozens to come before Ian. Don't give primary attributes to someone who doesn't deserve it.

Who else was featured on US and worldwide television travelling to most of the least travelled parts of the world as a backpacking
traveller; not tourist staying at 5 star hotels
sampling local food and showing us places such as Uzbechistan and Ullanbaatar? I don't recall a trip to the favelas in Brazil being shown along side Carnival in the same show? And where have you seen a show from Ojos del Sal Bolivia?
Oh and this was in 1997, not 2007.
Go advocate for a show you do want to watch.
The British sense of humor is over your head; but it made Globetrekker a classic show WORLDWIDE.

His old show was great. This new program is a piece of garbage.
