One week is not enough! We flew to NZ in December from LAX to celebrate 2 birthdays and an anniversary. The 12 hour flght on Air NZ was great, even in economy. We booked thru Newmans, and went with another couple (all 55+). We booked our own Waterfalls and Wine tour (highly recommend), and took a tour to Rotorua, which was also great. We stayed within a block of the Sky Tower, which is the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere. The trip to the top gave incrediable views of Auckland. (you can also book tours at Sky Tower) The free bus stopped right in front of our hotel, and we had no trouble getting around. Victoria Park Market was recommended by our guide as the best place to shop for goodies to take back to the family. We took the ferry over to Davenport and climbed Victoria Peak. We plan to go back and do the South Island when funds allow!
