This month, I'm going back to Monterey, one of the best places for seafood. Whenever I go there, the first thing I have to have is squid & chips. It's their most popular fare. I know most Americans would say "Squid? Yuck!" (which is why we call it "calamari", like we call snails "escargot".) But they taste just like clams. If you like fried clams, you'll LOVE fried squid. And Fisherman's Wharf has several restaurants with view of the bay, where you can watch sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals, & pelikans frolicking. I highly recommend the Monterey Peninsula as great vacation spot & eating adventure.
