I just saw an interview with John Ratzenberger on Headline News - 4/23/08. John you are absolutely on target when you talked about the need for more shop classes in our schools. I have been teaching Technology Education (Shop Class) for 32 years and you are correct when you said students today do not know a screwdriver from a hammer. When are the politicians in this country going to realize that the way to turn kids onto engineering is not by drilling math skills all day and requiring No Child Left Behind mandates. The key is to get students excited about building things with their hands and using their brains to solve technical problems. Once students are turned onto technology they see the need to develop their math skills.

I too saw John, on tonights show. I have always thought shop classes make much more since, than I lot of the touchy feely crap that is pushed on the kids today. Keep up the good work John and producers.
